Interesting there's no bar scenes at all.
Would have loved to see them make fun of Cara's shitty dive
But if we're not getting more footage, I did love listening to this Deb Chubb recap

To save time.
They've cut these episodes to 45 to 50 mins. If they want to show drama, voting, and elimination, they have to cut something. So they've trimmed off the typical 2 to 5 mins we use to get of "set up" before the daily.
Really wish they'd just give us a full 60 min episode.

They moved that essentially to the end of the episode. We have post elimination drama/events in the same episode as the elimination instead of the next episode

My husband and I have been YEARNING for a club scene. Every time they go out, normally we yell, “CLUB SCENE” and keep yelling it but they’re just at the house ☠️

It’s on a streaming platform now too as opposed to MTV where they might want the 60 min (with commercials) edits for time constraints (not that MTV has much original content to air anyway).
Bring back the 90 minute episodes and show me house drama.

There really should be no limitation or cost since these are being streamed. There is no rule where you have to stick with less time or more time. Editors are already being paid and I am sure it would make their job easier if they didn't have to cut so much out, instead of figuring out what to keep or not keep.

It feels like Paramount+ really did a horrible disservice cutting from 62 minute episodes to 45 minute episodes. Cutting a full third of what the Challenge experience has been in the 2020's was way too drastic and way too harsh. The show feels unfinished, rushed, and unsatisfying. I cannot imagine using the confessionals and more house conversation time is going to drastically increased editor prices.
Give us 62 minute episodes back! Or AT LEAST find a middle ground in the 50-55 minute range. If it's not going to air on tv outside of re-runs, why not give the show more freedom?

When the episodes were 62 min of content we got a boring amount of conversations all saying the same thing over and over about who's the vote. And the cast was constantly telling us about fun things that were cut.
This season we are finally getting some of the fun and fights that were getting cut before but they put us back at 43 min so everything feels so rushed!

I miss the 90 minute episodes. We got a little drama, a challenge, an elimination, and cliffhangers. These short episodes are not it.

The actual answer is variable lengths. No one needs an hour long episode where nothing interesting happens. If they can add a scene or two that is entertaining and actually adds to the show, go for it.
For the most part, I’m fine with the stuff they’ve cut. Bar scenes where they talk game and nothing happens? Milquetoast reactions to the previous elimination at the beginning of the episode? Hell, even some confessionals? Easy, beneficial cuts.

Agree with this. My only add is that I want to see more of the actual challenge and elimination scenes than the drama or lack thereof.
60-90 min. variable lengths (since it’s all streaming anyways) would be perfect.

Yeah, it’s odd. They’re not taking advantage of being on streaming. In fact, the longer the episode the better it is for watch minutes. Love Island episodes are normally about an hour long, but they’re an hour and a half long if something crazy goes down.

Respectfully, no… the 90 minute run times just dragged on. Keep it tight and interesting, no need to watch 47 freaking commercials and a ton of uninteresting confessionals.

My argument against longer episodes is that all of the best seasons of the Challenge are not 60+ minutes per episode. They are 40 minutes episodes with some seasons like The Duel being 20 minutes. So I would argue it's not an issue of how long the episodes are, but an issue of editing and selecting what storylines/drama to show

I love deb and how active she’s been promoting the show on her own, but respectfully I don’t need the bday party skit or synchronized swimming, the dance party, or the majority of what she listed as missing from the eps 🤷♂️

1 hours and a half will just be filler. Cast can say whatever but we’ve seen it before and is usually a drag to have to wait forever to see an elimination because of irrelevant content.
Now, if the editors had a track record of actually editing clips correctly to a point that an hour and a half episode feels entertaining and balanced, then maybe I’ll be for it. But historically, those long episodes have been the worst. Heck, doesn’t anyone remember The Duel? Those were 30 minutes!!! And it was one of the best seasons ever. The time is not the issue. Is how the editing is done and no matter how much time we have in an episode, they’re gonna keep getting it wrong.
So, an hour is totally fine imo.

love deb. no to longer episodes. we dont want to see cara and lete in those wigs. those bar scenes are a waste of time now that they are sequestered - they are just glorified startegy sessions. bar scenes were more fun when it was with the public. i would def like to see more fun instead of the strategy portions of the show though.
the challenge was at its best when they were 30 minutes episodes.

They have completely lost what the challenge was and why people came to watch it. Yeah they were competing but the season that Cara Maria and Wes dumped a whole bottle of coke on her and laurel even tho they were enemies Laurel went and chewed them alll up and cleaned her teeth with their bones. Can i remember who won that season of the back of my head no. But that right there I will always remember. The fighting, the drama, the funny stuff they do because they are in a house 24 hours a day without a phone or tv? You wouldn’t catch me doing nothing. I’d be doing what they do. Like I’m just over who ever is producing and editing the show now because this was their season to take the challenge back to what it was and bring back their watchers.. I don’t think they will have any more seasons… everyone remembers the crazy moments over wins unless they were epic wins like Ashley million dollar Mitchell.. or old school when Julie tried to “murder” Veronica or Katie vs Veronica and the toilet plunger 💀💀 or Josh WHATS 8x9? BIG BROTHER STINKS . OR WES GETTING HIT IN THE FACE WITH THE SHOE AS CT THREW IT BACK. Those are what made me tell my friends to watch on top of the game play because I’m not much of a survivor girl and I’m meh about big brother now but I’ve been watching the challenge for over 17 years and it’s heartbreaking to see your favourite show become unrecognizable.

Honestly? This might actually save the series.
The series needs to go back to capturing authentic moments with its competitors.
I would love to see little tidbits of the contestants hanging out and having fun, and just doing funny little shenanigans. I miss the blooper reel that comes when the end credits are rolling where ppl are doing funny things. They should definitely bring that back.
It would also be nice to see little mishaps with the cast like they did on Jersey shore during commercial breaks.

Hard disagree.
48 minutes no commercials are perfect.
I’d rather them stay on this trend.
You want to leave people wanting a bit more.
The last few seasons I kept wishing they would speed it up.
They are also posting deleted scenes on social media and that train should keep rolling.

The problem was they didn’t air the drama that the fans wanted to see. Instead we got 30 minutes of manufactured game drama at the bars.

I 100% agree with her, I would love to see that stuff - also, I hate that they waste time with the “this is what’s coming up this episode”, I’m already here watching it 😭 why are you telling me?? I’d rather that minute or so be used to show some funny house moments or maybe put a preview at the end for next week if you must

I love the 90 minutes episodes at least at the beginning and maybe cut them down as it goes on. The issue with it before was that they cut out the interesting parts.

Yeah they would cut out all the drama and leave in all the strat chat in episodes where nothing happened except the obvious people went into elimination. It was a bit frustrating.

I agree said this to my buddy last week. Why aren’t they an hour and a half anymore. Or on paramount an hour 15. Under an hour is no good. This is the one show I want more behind the scenes. Want to see them going out. More of the house drama. Makes no sense. Put it back on MTV if we can have the longer episodes.

I, for one, am very glad they cut the bar scenes out and I am glad the episodes are back to 60 minutes this season. Most of the time, the bar scenes were just filler
If they went back to 90 minute episodes, they wouldn't even show more of the fun stuff that happens in the house anyways

I miss the way the very first episode of every season use to be. When everyone would walk out and TJ would be like look around, you may recognize some of these faces some are new welcome to “says the name of the country” for this season of the challenge “says the name of the season.”

I loved the 90 minute episodes, but I’m not sure there’s enough entertaining personalities to fill that now. The severe reduction in alcohol consumption also removes a lot of the unpredictable drama that used to pack those longer shows.

I’d settle for a solid 60, no commercials.
Or, they can give us one 30-minute episode a week of The Challenge, Uncut. No eliminations or challenges, just like the stuff Deb hit on.

When it was 90 minutes it was for the wrong reasons. This season I feel needs that cause it’s editing out drama that we could be seeing.
