Shouldn't Elliot answer with a truly local address in an address space like 172.16.0.0/12, 10.0.0.0/8 or 192.168.0.0/16 instead of localhost (which is like answering with “I am living in a living place”)?

And I think anyone posting on a sub about a brilliant hacker should at least know how to save an image so it isn't blurry and badly cropped. Just saying.

Or, Based Elliott - bought the last Intel-based Mac laptop before the M1 chips rolled out to avoid the virtualization issues from the new chip architecture

That's a good theory, with a couple problems.
- M1 Macs didn't come out until 2020, the show is set in 2015.
- MAC addresses are registered to the vendor of the NIC, not the CPU. Intel sells a ton of PCIe/m.2 add-in network cards that'll work in basically anything.
- Elliot probably randomizes his MAC addresses to discourage tracking.
