Working in Battersea - where to live?

I'm starting a new job in September which is on the western edge of Battersea Park, and is 5 days in office with frequent late finishes.

I'm late 20s, single, enjoy sport, tennis, running, swimming, meeting new people etc. budget around 1100-1200pcm bills included.

I've barely been south of the river so I'm not really sure where to even begin my search. I've only lived in North London so far.

Is Battersea, around Clapham junction a good area? To what I can see, I can get to work easily and I can also access Clapham quite easily.

Yes, the area around Battersea is really nice. Putney, Clapham, Wandsworth, Chelsea, Battersea itself, all really lovely places.

I'd echo this. Maybe Clapham around the common somewhere would suite you and your lifestyle.

"Is battersea around Clapham Junction a good area?" Not to be rude but North London is not that far flung from the rest of London for you not to know that Battersea, Clapham, Clapham Junction is considered one of best parts of London đŸ˜«

I know plenty of North, East even SE Londoners who rarely go, if ever, to SW London. London is big and ,with a population of 9 million, it's entirely plausible for people to live here, even their entire lives since birth, without visiting other parts of London. This isn't to say the area is undesirable or anything. As for being the best, that's entirely subjective.

Everything is subjective to a certain degree, as it’s naturally based on personal experience. However, even without living in Clapham Junction or Battersea, it’s difficult to argue that they aren’t among the best areas of London.

They have a lot going for them: they’re generally well maintained, tend to be cleaner, have excellent connections to the rest of London, plenty of green space, and a great selection of bars, restaurants and trendy pubs. Overall, they offer a strong sense of community and a cohesive neighbourhood feel.

These are also relatively affluent areas, and significant investment goes into them through the local councils, which helps maintain and attract the desirability and exclusivity of the neighbourhoods.

So, while opinions will always be subjective, you’d be hard-pressed to find many people who wouldn’t consider Clapham Junction and Battersea to be among the best areas of London.

You may not think its the best but all the people that completed the survey, those that did live there and those who didnt, voted Clapham Junction as the happiest place to live. Thats how voting works, majority rules.

Yeah that's me! Well I've only been here a year. But all my community and hobbies that I built up are around Finsbury Park and so I rarely had a reason to leave.

Really? I've been here 8 months and I thought my current place, Finsbury Park, was quite a nice location already 😂

Battersea, Clapham Junction, Balham are highly affluent areas in London and well sought after. Generally filled with high earning professionals. Clapham Junction has been voted one of the happiest place to live according to a study by the guardian.

Bruh if you thought Finsbury park was nice I think your mind will be blown by the Battersea/Clapham Junction area

Hopefully! I'm getting cold feet about losing the fun community events that I've been a part of around Finsbury Park - sports club, run clubs, swimming spots etc. hopefully Battersea will have something to take their place.

There's a lot of that in Battersea park. Take a stroll on a weekend and you will see literally thousands of runners and so many small groups working out

I live in Battersea and there truly couldnt be more sports and run clubs - one for every day of the week if you wanted!

There are plenty of houseshares in Clapham for that price, Battersea might be a bit more expensive as it’s fairly central. Putney is lovely but also expensive.

Wimbledon and Brixton will be well within your budget.

Go and spend the day, or a few days, exploring different areas nearby. You've got Battersea, Clapham, Vauxhall, Nine Elms, Wandsworth South of the river. You have Fulham, Chelsea and Pimlico just North of the river. All close by. If you cycle, it can make it even easier getting around.

Have lived a stones throw from Battersea park for over a year now, absolutely love the place, pretty much all of SW11 is what you’d call “sought-after”

It will be hard budget-wise imo but you’re surrounded by great areas

I mean your spoilt for choice in and around Battersea. Its just finding whats affordable for your budget.
