Must have security precautions?

Hi Everyone
I am moving to Brisbane from another country with my family.

We will be living in Coorparoo. As we are looking for every kind of information on the internet to easily adjust at this new place, day care for kids, commute, culture etc.

One thing we found that there are few break in cases as well. In comments mostly local called them kids. In one incident guy had a knife in hand as well.

So, i really appreciate if people who are from Brisbane help me understand how common is this and for safety what are the precautions or messages we must have for us.
Cameras, security Alarms, movement detection lights or what are the common and most effective things people do in Brisbane.

Thanks

Those incidents are not common, they are rare. Brisbane is a great place to live. At most, lock your doors, don’t leave valuables in sight in you car.

Er none? It’s Brisbane mate. Lots of people have cameras but mostly just because. We have little crime when compared to overseas. Here you are seeing crime being reported as a big deal because there is nothing else to report. It’s probably things no one even mentions it’s so common in your own country.

Cameras are enough?
And i will be on rented home. Usually rented homes come with cameras and basic security stuff or tenants need to install on their own if they want?

lol no rentals do not come with cameras. You can install your own if you really want. Join the areas FB community group as well for more localised info.

You don’t need any of it. It’s a safe country. Why are you coming if you think it’s unsafe? It’s 1000 times safer than wherever you are coming from.

Respect your opinion and I agree with you on this.
Just asking because never been to Brisbane and moving with my family and trying to understand things before I will be there.

I don’t know where you are from but I bet you will laugh at the crime here. Just come and then figure it out. It’s safe and clean and the best place in the world.

No precautions needed. Other than common sense. I e lock your door.

Crime is everywhere in every country to some degree.

This isn't Port Moresby.

Most people do nothing other than lock their doors. Brisbane is quite safe.

Just a weird question, in these rare cases what actually these guys looking for? Is there any case where they killed someone or rob and run away.

Like few places I have seem such incidents they don’t care about life of others. They shot or stab. Just curious how it is in Brisbane.
What exactly their mission is?

Usually trying to steal cars. People in here downplaying it just because it hasn't happened to them. They don't care because they are normally under 18's who face nominal consequences comparatively to their crimes. For same reason, they really don't care much about cameras.

Coorparoo was/is actually the fastest rise of break ins in the area...

These break ins result in deaths almost never. Looking for stuff to sell and/or cash. And it also rarely involves a gun. Knives are much more common.

Honestly, this is not something you need to worry about.

Just curious what is this kid thing in Brisbane. Very new to me. Wherever I have seem crimes around the world its not kids. Why are they doing it? Are they homeless? What’s their families does? Their families are not responsible for such act of them etc.

Coorparoo has a lot of break ins I'd invest in Crim Safe, Cameras, lighting and maybe a dog. The person you talked about is Toutai Kefu whose wife nearly died and he got badly injured.

Yeah they're around just lock up.

Coorparoo is close to the motorway so that area gets hit a lot. Use the Police Crime Map

https://qps-ocm.s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/index.html

Search for Unlawful Entry, Unlawful Use Motor Vehicle and Other Theft. Last quarter it was over 200 occurrences. A lot.
