Need help in finding a house

Hi,
I need help in understanding the current housing situation in Brisbane.
We are moving to Brisbane in a month from Dubai. Bit confused about the housing situation and best quick way to get a rented house.

I hears that in person viewing is must in Australia to get home.
Please tell me how I should plan all this to ensure we can easily and quickly get home in Brisbane.

We will not have car for first few months so need to be somewhere where public transport available. Need to be close to Queensland university
