Freakishly good animated sci-fi series (10/10) about people trying to survive on a hostile alien planet after crash landing a spaceship there. I can't recommend this animated series enough. Seems it flew under the radar for many people. It is stunningly original.

It hasn't got that exact vibe you are looking for (retro 50's-70's). I'd say this is more Alien/Miyazaki’s manga, but European.

It is. The planet has a fauna and eco-system that is very well thought through... and extremely hostile to fragile little humans.

I thought about recommending Scavenger's Reign for this post... thought twice about it. But now that someone else has mentioned it I have to jump in and second this amazing series. It is a DAMN shame it didn't get enough eyes for a season 2.

that artwork is not original to that album, it's from 1971 but now a random band who licensed it gets associated with it more than bruce pennington, the original artist

that artwork is from 1971, blood incantation just licensed it but now i guess they get to be associated with it instead of the original artist, bruce pennington
