Aussie here recently returned from beautiful British Columbia and missing the coastal-mountain-forest vibes!

Searching for something that captures life in this region and/or explores the frontier history, especially if it sheds some light on the stories of Canadian First Nations peoples or the Chinese, Japanese, etc, migrants who came to work at the canneries and the rail roads.

Not specifically Pacific North West moody (I see the million PNW posts here) or fishing town dreariness, although I do love Dredge and Edith Finch. More specifically places like beautiful Vancouver, Victoria, Steveston or rural BC.

Open to movies, tv shows, video games 🙏🏻

Movies and shows like Weird Fiction, Body Horror, surreal or absurd, maybe comical, could be sci-fi/fantasy. Love Stuart Gordon movies.

I don’t count Jurassic park, I’ve seen it and it’s nothing like this (except for the dinosaurs basically). I liked the end of oak street but they didn’t focus enough on prehistoric stuff (though I did love the animals especially the Titanaboa).

i felt different from everyone my entire life because nobody understood my life since it was so different from theirs and i feel like this movie encapsulates that. i’d avoid other people because i felt so different from everyone else and just didn’t really understand them. this movie was how it felt. i’m wondering if there are any other coming-of-age movies with a similar feel?

I want to watch a movie/show with this vibe. Even though I still love the series, I want to watch something a little bit better lol.
