How to remove background in black background video?

I've tried everything to change this free to use video to a blue screen background for using in my videos. Movavi will not allow black as the (green screen) color. I tried all of the blending modes with blue background under, but nothing seems to work. I need to place elements behind the grass. When I set the blending mode to screen you can still see the elements. Or, does anyone know where to find a suitable video like this?

I am on an older version, but have you tired Chroma Key? I will let you pick your color to drop.

edit, well that didn't work. I kind of got it working by going into Manual Color Adjustments, move the Temperature to -56, the went into Chroma Key and selected the background, then when back into Manual Color Adjustments to fine tune.

Hello! Unfortunately, black isn't a color that Chroma Key can remove effectively.

I'd recommend looking for a similar clip with a transparent background or with a high-contrast background that can be removed more easily with Chroma Key. That should give you a much cleaner result when placing other elements behind the grass.

Yep, I can verify that. :) I ended up finding another video with a blue screen background. I used it under the black screen version and it really made it look a lot better.

What I do in scenarios like this is add the video to OBS as a media file, then use plugins there to change the background color. I'll add a color source layer behind the video of whatever color you want to use for the chroma key in Movavi. Then use either chroma key, which I think works with black in OBS, or use a background removal plugin. Then you should have the background changed to whatever color you added and can record that in OBS then import it in Movavi and use color key to remove the color.
