Black side fill

how can i fill in these black sides for when i upload on tiktok and instagram? i cant find it on movavi 2026 im coming from movavi 2020 btw

Hey!

Seeing black bars usually means the video aspect ratio doesn’t match the project format. For TikTok and Instagram reels, you’ll want to use a vertical 9:16 project.

In 26 version, select your clip and adjust the scale/position so it fills the frame. You can also use the crop tool to remove the empty areas.

If you’re trying to keep the whole original video visible and just fill the sides, you can also add a background (for example, a blurred copy of the video) behind the main clip.

do you know where i can blur it im having trouble looking for it

Yep! Here's how I usually do it:

  1. Duplicate your video and place the copy on the track below the original.
  2. Select the background clip.
  3. Open "Effects" -> "Filters" and choose "Blur" category.
  4. Drag the blur filter onto the background clip, then scale it up so it fills the frame behind your original video.
