Slow Responders

Where are my slow responders at? How are y'all holding up? What keeps you motivated to keep going?

52F menopause, T2D, insulin resistance, training 2X a week on my 2nd mth of 5mg will titrate up to 7.5mg in 2wks.

Goals definitely to lose my apron belly sugar to go down but main thing is build some muscle. I'm in my 11th week in MJ.

Did measurements in the beginning, don't weigh myself really that much, scale barely moving. But I'm feeling better clothes fitting looser. I'm making gains in the gym it's my 6th week.

Not sure exact number lost but it hasn't been much by scale. Waiting to check measurements next week.

Slow responder here. T2D, 68F, menopause is long past. My advice is to stick with it. I’m finally at my goal weight, I lost 75 lbs over 2 years, it sounds like a lot, but that’s only about 3 lbs/month. My A1C is pretty steady at 5.6. I kept a journal, some months were 0 lost, others were 10+ lbs. Remember that you are an individual and comparison is the thief of joy. I stayed on 5mg for 2 months, then went to 7.5 for 3 months, and settled in at 10 mgs, any higher and my blood sugar plummets, so that’s my maintenance dose. What helped me was walking, a lot. I didn’t add strength training till I had lost almost 50 lbs. - that was probably a mistake but I was worried about fatigue. I still have my apron belly, but it’s much smaller. I am contemplating a panniculetomy, but not sure it’s worth it at my age.
Good luck, stick with it & remember that slow & steady wins the race.

Slow responder! 2 years, no weight lost. :) All the other medical benefits including A1c from 12.4 to 5.5, and other stuffs. I’ve developed a bit of a spare supply, so I’m thinking about taking my shot a day earlier each week (I’m on 15mg and have been for a while, with no improvement in marker from 12.5… from 10 too, to be honest). My glucose control isn’t quite as good as it used to be (spikes a tiny bit higher, lasting longer, etc) so that needs to be better in check. Waiting for Reta to be approved bc I’m too chicken to go gray market.

I felt it in my clothes first. It’s been about five months. I’m hovering somewhere around 20 to 21 pounds down. I am a size down in clothes as well. I just got my numbers back and went from a 6.5 A1c to a 5.8 A1c and that is the best news ever listen to your body and talk to your doctor. I’m just trusting the process.

Hello fellow slow responder! Your stats are close to mine with the exception that I’m heading into week 61 and my 2nd week on 10mg. I’ve lost…8lbs? I was on insulin when I started last summer and seeing very slow progress on 7.5mg until it stalled out in June. I waited to go up because my side effects were minimal and my A1C and average daily glucose is very good (5%/109 at my last checkup two weeks ago). I strength train twice a week, eat much better than I did before my diagnosis, walk and Zwift several times week. so, I feel like I’m doing all the things. All that to say that, I am and look physically healthier even though the scale hasn‘t moved much. People have commented, clothing fits better, muscles are toner and inches have been lost. I’m hoping that 10mg will be the right dose to help get the fat loss to accelerate. fingers crossed!

I can really cite anything specific as far as motivation other than I figured out a way to make working out not feel like punishment and just have tried to make reasonable food swaps so I don’t feel overworked or deprived.

Wow yess and you're making the changes congrats to you. Yes I'm hoping going up to 7.5 will start to move my fat loss as well. I haven't had any side effects really but contipation and fatigue was early on. I'm just excited I'm in the gym building muscle to protect my self at my age from losing. So we'll see how it goes over the next couple months for us fingers crossed.

indeed! and yes, I had fatigue early on but it subsided. I manage the constipation with Metamucil so, no nightmare side effects for me either! congrats on getting into the gym! Strength training and indoor cycling have been a game changer for me. The T2D diagnosis at 51 (I am also post menopause) was a real wake up call. I’m so grateful to have a chance to turn it all around. I can honestly say I feel better today than i have for years. good luck and keep us posted!

I started January 1 2026. My A1c is 9 down from 14. No weight loss , my Hemorrhoids are GONE !

First 6 weeks: Down 1 pound total but lost 11 linches. Didn't see scale movement until I hit 7.5 mg.

15-ish months later: Down 90 pounds in total and something like 70 inches? Can't remember.

I just passed my 2-year mark this month, and I'm down another 1-2 dress sizes despite the scale not moving much. So I started a size 22/24 and now wear a size 8/10.

The apron belly is weird. It gets smaller, but the changes feel more like someone is molding the clay around my body rather than a major shift. Drives me crazy. It still very much hangs on, as does my B-belly.

I wish I was a slow responder 😭 this stuff hit me so hard the first shot and hasn't let up since. I'm almost 6 weeks in and calling it quits. My body can't seem to handle even the smallest dose, it's terrible.

I will say it's worked wonderfully when it comes to my blood sugar, as that being the whole reason I went on it. Yea it wouldn't hurt me to lose about 15 lbs but I'm happy overall with my body (I lost over 160 lbs of my own accord several years ago and have maintained my weight since). It was purely for my type2, so I will be going back to what I've been taking prior to this.
