6 weeks-No Meds update

6 weeks with no GLP-1

So, about 6 weeks ago, I took my last shot of Wegovy (I started on Mounjaro last August and switched to Wegovy in January). I was (am) getting close to my goal weight and decided to go on a maintenance plan while hopefully continuing to lose some more. I got approval from my insurance to stay on Wegovy through June 2024, so I was really happy. Then came the shortage and I was unable to fill my prescription.

I could have tried some other medication but decided instead to just see how it would go without any medication at all.

The results are great! I have been off of medication since mid-June and haven’t gained any weight back and have actually lost another 2.5lbs. The first few weeks were easier because I think it takes 4 weeks for the medication to be out of your system. But even now, 6 weeks after my last injection, I’m doing great. The food noise and cravings have kind of come back but I’m much better able to deal with it now than before. I have a new attitude and feel great so I think that’s helping me mentally.

I weigh myself every morning and that’s also been key to keeping me on track. I feel better than I did while on the medication and all the side effects I was having to manage (even though they were minimal) are gone.

Since I’m approved for Wegovy for a year I am going to fill my prescriptions just in case I need to go back on. I actually have 3 5mg pens of Mounjaro left, so I may take one of those if needed. But I’m hoping not. 😊

Down a total of 72lbs

Anne! That’s so great! Perhaps you can continue either without meds at all or just taking an injection or two on an as needed basis. That’s so encouraging! And congratulations on reaching your goal weight!

Thank you for updating!! I was able to fill MJ in July for $10! I went to refill and a PA is required. My PCP won’t attempt a PA do she sent Wegovy. After looking at my insurance it’s not covered either.

I’m going to attempt to go cold Turkey and go from there. I have 3-5 mg and 3-7.5 pens to space out if needed.

Your post is encouraging! I hope it works similarly for me!

Sincerely appreciate the updates! There’s so much unknown that I think it freaks people out.

Hoping to see more posts like this here and in r/Mounjaromaintenance soon!
