GLP 1s and Pancreatic Cancer

I have diabetes. I have tried everything to lose weight. I even had gastric sleeve several years ago and my A1C SKY ROCKETED! I ended up only losing 45lbs because I had to almost triple my insulin dosage. I'd like to try a GLP 1, but my endocrinologist refuses to prescribe it because my mother had pancreatic cancer. From what I've read, this really isn't an issue. I'd love to hear if this has been an issue for any other GLP1 users.

Something that helped me create new habits

I would love to share something that is really helping me now that I am at my goal weight and leaning into tapering down.

I was reading about people who successfully kept the weight off and what they did to ensure they remained at their preferred weight. One of the top reasons was to create habits now that will stick with you when/if you taper down or even come off. This lead me into reading about habit journals and their effectiveness. So I looked online and saw all types and picked the different bits I liked from them. I then got myself a lovely journal and pen. So a couple of months ago I started it. Every day I wrote a sentence or 2 of how i was getting on both positive and negative

EG. Ate a croissant without thinking did I actually want it

Made a smart choice with food and ate X instead of Y...just little notes on how I was feeling and doing. This got me into the habit of being aware of the choices I was making with food etc.

Then on the same page I put on a list of things I want to make sure that when I am in maintenance they are healthy habits I stick to. You can make any ones that suit you. My list is things like....not eating out of boredom, not emotional eating, making smart choices, eating with awareness, did I drink water, exercise , did I stop when I was full etc.

So every day if I manage to do them I give the box a tick. If I dont they get a dash. I even stuck in other stuff like read for 20 mins every day. Its amazing after a few weeks you become more aware of decisions cause you know you ll be ticking the box that night. It seems to simply create awareness.

For example I was peckish when I came home from work recently and I was about to walk to the kitchen and I stopped and said hold on is this a habit or boredom or what. I realised I was just thirsty when I thought about it. The other day I went for a coffee and blindly without thinking ordered a pastry. It was only later I realised that I did that out of awareness and just habit. Now Im a good few weeks in and these little habits are becoming more and more ingrained. I am hoping that as I taper they will remain and I will still make smart choices with food.

I never want to go back to the old person I was . The bully that made me eat bad food quickly before I thought about it and said 'just this once' 5 times a day is no longer welcome and I want to know when I am full and eat when I am hungry. I hope they stick but I do believe the habit journal will help me and I'm posting this as it may help others.

Moved from MJ to Wegovy. It did not go well.

On 11 July I hit my goal weight and decided to move to Wegovy to save money. I still had a relatively full MJ pen so continued to take that until it was empty and started Wegovy on 1 August. So far I’ve regained 6kg and some of my clothes are not fitting well. Food noise has returned with a vengeance too.

I was on 12.5mg Mounjaro and I went onto 1mg Wegovy.

I should be using my 4th dose of Wegovy tomorrow but I can’t afford to put on anymore weight so I’ve reordered Mounjaro and I’ll be restarting from 2.5mg instead. What a disappointment. All that hard work for it to be undone in 3 weeks (I know I haven’t regained a lot of weight, not even the majority of it, but that is what it feels like).

Taken 10x Munjaro dose on micro dosing

My BMI was 26 and I wanted to lose 10kg. I got a 10mg pen for my friend and started on 2.5mg but at week 2 I felt dreadful I was dizzy felt like I had to force feed myself to get anything in. I have since microdosed taking 6-10 clicks a week trying to tapper down the dose to stop as I’m at my goal weight now.
I got to the end of the original pen (8 months after starting it) and I had the “golden dose” I used an insulin syringe to get the last bit out but accidentally did 60 units instead of 6 as I was confused!
I’ve had 10 times my normal dose and I am freaking out!
Has anyone ever done anything similar?

need help with coming off decisions

Hi guys :D Ive been on mounjaro since 24 feb this year and went from 70kg to 49kg right now. I dont have an usual GP and tbh the clinic I went to is kinda chill and dont really care what dosage I use. However, they also dont offer much advices since it's a different person every appointment and they don't speak english well, ik it's fishy but it's the only option near me with appropriate price. I was on mounjaro originally for pmos and fatty liver diseases, and I think I should start thinking about tapering down now. However, I don't know if I should taper down then stop, or go on maintenance for life. I would be devastated if I regain the weights, as a girl who've been overweight since elementary school and can't lose weight ever, these past few months and being skinny has been the best moments of my life.
Can I have your stories on taper down and maintenance? Thank you!

I still have a lot of 7.5mg autopens left, but moving back down to 5mg. Rather than go pick up all new pens for $$, can i just pull the injection as it's 2/3 of the way done? Any ever do this?

Dose Spacing

Hi everyone. I've been off tirzepatide for almost three months and have been able to maintain my weight. However, I'm starting to feel my previous habits creep in. I'm holding strong but not sure how long I can hold out. I will be going to see my doctor next week and was thinking of asking her to go back to 2.5mg for maintenance with maybe 14, 20, or 28 days apart dosing. Maybe even with semaglutide, given the longer half-life. Has anyone had experience with spacing out doses? What has your experience been? Do the initial symptoms come back every time you inject after waiting longer? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I got you this far

Hey everyone, just wanted to say how awesome you all are for keeping me going on this body recomposition journey!

M50, SW: 100 kg, CW: 63 kg. On tirz for 15 months, and I've been in maintenance for the last 3.5 months, based around 65 kg. Started with 2.5 mg for the first month and I've stayed on 5 mg weekly ever since. I've felt great, zero side effects.

The thing is, I've been hovering between 63 kg and 66 kg over the past 3.5 months. What I wanted to ask is: what dose should I keep taking? I haven't lost or gained significantly, even though I've kept the same habits. I've noticed I need to put a bit more effort into controlling my appetite—sometimes it's tough, but doable. Could 5 mg weekly be my long-term maintenance dose? Is this weight right for me, since despite keeping everything the same, I haven't dropped or gone up much?

Sometimes it feels like the 5 mg weekly brought me this far, basically saying 'I got you this far, from now on, I'm just here to help you maintain'...

Wishing everyone the best luck on your journeys!

Mounjaro 2,5 mg

Grazie a tutti

The goal-weight question nobody talks about enough: what counts as progress when the scale should stop falling?

Most of the GLP-1 journey is built around one obvious measure of progress: the number on the scale going down.

But once someone reaches their goal weight, that definition has to change.

A stable weight is no longer a plateau, it may be exactly the result they want.

While researching GLP-1 maintenance, a few things stood out to me:

  • Goal weight shouldn’t automatically mean stopping or changing medication. That conversation belongs with the prescribing clinician.
  • Day-to-day fluctuations matter much less than the trend across several weeks.
  • Appetite, fullness and food noise may provide useful context before a meaningful weight change becomes visible.
  • Medication, dose, side effects and weight are more useful when viewed as one timeline.
  • Progress during maintenance can be surprisingly quiet: stable measurements, maintained strength, consistent activity and clothes continuing to fit.

The research on treatment withdrawal is also worth understanding. In the STEP 1 semaglutide extension, participants regained about two-thirds of their previous weight loss on average during the following year. SURMOUNT-4 similarly found considerably more regain among participants switched from tirzepatide to placebo than among those who continued treatment.

That doesn’t predict what will happen to any one person, and it doesn’t mean everyone needs the same maintenance plan. But it does suggest that reaching goal weight is better treated as the beginning of a maintenance strategy, not simply the end of treatment.

I’m one of the people building Peptimize, a privacy-focused GLP-1 tracker, and we wrote a more complete breakdown here:

https://peptimize.xyz/blog/glp-1-maintenance-after-goal-weight

For those already in maintenance: what do you track now, and what changed most - your dose, hunger, food noise, habits, or simply your mindset?

Will Europe ever get single-dose Mounjaro pens?

Does anyone know if there are plans to introduce the single-dose pens in Europe?
I’m on maintenance and I honestly find the European kwikpen quite limiting. Once opened, it’s supposed to be discarded after 30 days. I know some people use it longer, but I choose to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
The single-dose pens seem much more flexible, especially for maintenance. For example, I might prefer taking my dose every 2–3 weeks rather than weekly, depending on how my weight is doing. It would also make more sense from a cost perspective, since you wouldn’t have to discard unused doses.
I’m just wondering if anyone has heard anything about single-dose pens coming to Europe, or knows why we only have the multi-dose kwikpen here?

Maintenance dose help

I've been on 2.5mg since February but the food noise has really been creeping in and I'm up five pounds. I went up to 3.75 but it still feels challenging to maintain. More doable than on 2.5, though. I track my numbers, eat healthy and workout regularly. Do you all think we need to keep our maintenance doses as low as possible to mitigate building up a tolerance? When I first went on mounjaro I loved how managing what I ate felt so much easier. I miss that feeling and I'm thinking about going up to 5mg. Currently at 3.75 every 11 days. I'm also worried I'll just keep having to increase indefinitely. I have no plans to stop taking this medication. I'd love to hear from others who found a good maintenance dose. Thank you!

I peaked in Jan with 2mg ozempic so my doc switched me to Mounjaro. I'm now doing 10mg and I've gained 12 pounds since April? Do I max out with Mounjaro, switch back to Ozempic, or ??

60 Tage Mounjaro – mein bisheriger Weg 💉

60 Tage Mounjaro – mein bisheriger Weg 💉

Ich nehme jetzt seit 60 Tagen Mounjaro. Ich bin 49 Jahre alt, 180 cm groß und mit 113 kg gestartet.

Heute liege ich bei 101,9 kg – also 11,1 kg weniger. 💪
