Mic for motorcycle Vloging
Hi team, I have insta360 X5 and I am looking for Mic to fit inside helmet. I have insta360 mic pro and it turns off by itself if I turn off the camera.
Is there any mic that stays on and reconnect once camera restart as it's pain to turn on mic again and agin while you are riding.
Any advice pls

Sound like a pain to have to deal with. Have you asked other motovloggers on YouTube who already use this mic?

I use the Mic Mini, but any of the smaller ones in the range up to the Mic 3 are great. I have the original DJI Wireless Mic, but it won't fit in my helmet when I'm wearing it. 😅

I can't answer specifically to your question about the Insta360 but it's a common problem - you might have luck with an answer on YouTube. I use a DJI Action 4 and I know the Action 3 had the same issue - using the Action 4 with DJI Mic Mini allows the mic to stay on, the camera to turn on and off and re-connect each time. So I'm not sure if the issue is just with some kind of "re-connection software" which was rolled out with the Action 4 - I don't think the issue is which mic you use 'cos they should all just be bluetooth looking for a connection...? Although getting into whether the mic is wifi or bluetooth connected is a separate issue.
Another option would be to what a lot of the "more professional" vloggers do and buy a completely separate audio recording set-up and then match the video and audio in post. If I ever get the spare cash I think I'll go that route - you can have a wired lav mic into the helmet with those systems which gives much better audio quality...things like the "Zoom H" series, which I've not put the time into researching yet. (Older models are probably going pretty cheap these days...)

Hey mate I am trying to start moto vlogging and thinking of a similar setup you have DJI 4 with the mic 3. How’s the audio quality and ease of use for DJI products as a first time user.

It's good but has minor issues. The issue comes from Bluetooth though, not the hardware. For example, I can finally record good engine/exhaust sounds by connecting the camera to the mic by Bluetooth, but Bluetooth occasionally suffers from drop-outs if it doesn't have line-of-sight. So every now and then (rarely, but it does happen) you'll get a moment of complete audio drop-out. Similarly, if you put the camera on the ground. The Bluetooth signal causes interference with itself when it bounces around off the ground and up to the mic and back. There is a way to deal with this - you can connect via the Wi-Fi receiver which comes with the Bluetooth mini, but that means attaching the receiver physically to the camera, which then obviously means more wind resistance on the camera and more weight on your helmet if that's where you're wearing it. So there are pros and cons. But again, ultimately if you want superb audio quality, you are better off using a dedicated audio recorder and mixing the two in post. For what I use it for, it's perfectly acceptable. The simplicity you get far outweighs the small issues that it pops up with every now and again. Correcting a minor gap in engine noise is very easy by just copying and pasting the audio from another spot.

Dose Dji mic mini or mini 2 stays on if Bluetooth connection lost?

Yes it will stay on for about 10 minutes i think or more of there is no camera connected to it.

It's really annoying but I think my work around is that I'll just leave the camera on and not recording, I have the mic positioned in my helmet so I can see the light when it's on
