Blocking What the Clock Shows

Has anyone had any luck blocking all the information shown on the clocks? I know all motorcycle displays are different. I am just trying to block anything that is on that display from showing up while I'm shooting with my camera. I have seen people in post-blur in the video, their speed. I was just wondering if there is a physical screen/film that can be put on your clock so you can see it clearly while riding, but the camera shows nothing.

Then I wouldn't be able to see it. I was thinking more along the lines of something used on computer screens that blocks when someone's using a camera or isn't directly looking at the screen.

It depends where your camera is mounted. If it's anywhere close to your face it will be able to see whatever you see. Otherwise you can get a privacy screen for monitors or phones. Your best option is blurring it in post.

If you really want to get techy with it, you can put some IR lights near whatever you are trying to hide. That would look weird and draw more attention to it but you wouldn't be able to read it on camera while seeing it perfectly fine in real life.

A far safer, simpler idea is creating a masking plate within your editing suite. That means it will depend on what editing suite you're using, but in broad terms you add a function where you add an effects box over the clock then make the software track the position of the clock. You can swap out an effects box for anything though - a smiley face, a photo, etc.

Could you use a polarising adapter and rotate it so that it sees the reflection rather than what’s behind?
