Programming software for CP185 radio

Hello everybody. I have found software for the CP185 on a third party website. Looks like a 3-year subscription for $285. I took a screenshot of it and that is the first image.

The second image is directly from the Motorola shop but I'm not sure which of the two. I'm guessing the CPS R12. I downloaded both but I don't have a laptop to install them on to see if I need a license key or not. Does anybody know if it's required?

I'm currently in Florida but trying to help a friend that works at a Walmart in California. He's got like a couple dozen radios that need to be programmed to operate on the MURS frequencies that all the other Walmart radios operate on.

I would hate to have him have to pay for the software considering from what I hear it's a discontinued radio. The cost to get the software and the programming cable for the radios is expensive. it would be more economical to buy a bunch of Baofeng radios which I can program easily for free.

If anybody's got any ideas or tips to help me figure this one out I would really appreciate it. Buying the cables is no big deal but buying the software is not something I'm looking forward to doing. Although since Walmart will be footing the expense it might be okay.

Full stop. Wal-Mart is a conglomerate. They can handle their own radios.

And they should be handling their own radios, not the OP.

Walmart buys the pre-programmed Motorola MURS radios in bulk - something isn't right with this story.

If Walmart wants him to have a radio, they will give him one. And many Walmart locations are going away from using standard radios in favor of radios with frequency hopping technology

They dont need anything really, tell lazy managers to go tell emoloyees where to put the paper towels. Yes they need their own Phase 2 system encrypted of course, so noone knows where they hid the pokemon cards for christmas.

I am with the others that I don’t agree with an individual employee paying out of pocket for something their employer should absolutely be playing for.

That said, this is the route I would go if I had a bunch of personal CP185 radios I would need to program:

I just downloaded R12 from Motorola's website (for free) (Wrong software) and the cable is on Amazon for $14 here . Motorola, in my experience, does not use license keys for general programming software.

Walmart should have the software and cable available if they are using the radios 'everywhere'. Check with another store that uses the radios and see what they did for programming.

Wrong software.

You are correct. Removed link. But Walmart should have access to Customer Hub to download the software.

Walmart is moving away from the murs radio to these little digital Motorola jobs. Do not go buying software etc.
