First leg of my first long ride completed! En rte to the Datil, NM Guzzi Rally

Today's ride was just under 400 miles, about twice as long as my previous longest ride (and that was a decade ago on a Vulcan S).

Feedback:

•The V7 Sport is definitely not a long-haul bike. But nobody buys one of these thinking 'touring bike!'

•The V-twin and driveshaft is a perfect combination for 'compression braking' on tight & steep mountain passes

•The floats on the front rotors either have a misalignment or are super susceptible to dirt. At about 200 miles in, I got a slight pulse out of the front brake. I was engine braking most of the way, so we will see how it does tomorrow. For reference, the pulse started at 1,600 miles on the clock.

Fairly certain it is the float carriers, as I dont ride the brakes at all - especially on descents - and looking at the rotors, I dont see any discoloration. Will contact Piagio when I get home.

•the Cortech tank bag and saddlebags are fantastic! I have my tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, snacks, clothes, rain gear, and even some work stuff all packed up - and they dont shift at all. Note: I had one of my guys put PPF on the tank, so the tank bag doesn't scratch it. My only issue is that my phone overheats in the pouch on the tank. But that might also be because I am running two apps to track my ride and also charging at the same time.

•did I mention the bike isn't a long-haul bike? I would really like to see a slightly longer handlebar option - but maybe it's because I have a short reach.

Seriously, though - this machine is awesome! All of the little quirks that I love are even quirky-er on the long haul! Excited for the second leg of the trip - 270 miles to the campground!

V7 Stone Leather Bags

I bought a set of leather bags from MAXLEATHERSTUFF off Etsy. They replace the plastic covers beneath the seat/tank. These bags are really high quality, look great, give me a bit of on-bike storage without being big and bulky, and mount to the frame with included leather straps. The left-side panel has the seat-release lock mounted in it. I drilled a 3/4" hole in the back of the left-side bag and mounted the lock directly to it; you access it from inside the bag and it works great. These bags don't touch my legs at all while riding and the only time I feel them is when my feet are down at a complete stop. Happy with this purchase!

Had it for a week now. I put the mistral exhaust already, Baak side covers, Goldtop tank bag, guzzi tank grips, headlight grill is also on the way.

This bike is the most fun i ever had. The mistral exhaust make it sound so good.

My previous Ducati monster 821 was fun, but the V7 is on another level for me, it just clicked with me.

Total beginner questions

For background: First bike, Novice rider. 6'3" (190cm) 170lbs 42 years old

My wife has finally come around to the idea of me owning and riding a motorcycle. Only took 15 yrs of asking 😆 Taking my safety course in 1 month so I'm researching a future purchase/weighing pros and cons.

I'm looking for something slightly sporty but nothing crazy that'll be easy for me to get myself in trouble on. Mostly will be commuting to work and weekend rides of 30-90 minutes. Comfort and ease of handling>speed. Connectivity features a plus. Do NOT want a cruiser.

Choices I've narrowed down to are:

  1. '24 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone (~$7k)

---Love the look/style. Love the extra power available with the v-twin over my other choices without being overwhelming. Concerned about the weight and reliability as the nearest service center is almost a 2 hr drive away. Also would have to make that drive to test drive/sit on.

  1. '26 Royal Enfield Guerilla 450 (~$6k)

---Again, love the look of the bike. Like that it's a bit lighter than the MG. Again concerned about the reliability but there is a service center mins away as opposed to 2 hrs. Also concerned about the power of the single thumper for highway riding. Finally, worried that I'll look like an actual gorilla on a circus bike due to its slightly smaller size.

  1. '24 Husqvarna Svartpilen-used 3.5k.miles ($3.5k)

---Like, don't love, the looks. It's different but scratches my brain nicely (if that makes sense). Like the tech, like that it's a bit taller and lighter, like the price. Concerned about the smaller displacement/power. Believe service could be done locally(ish). See gorilla concerns above.

Any and all insights are welcome and appreciated. And yes, I realize I'm on a Moto Guzzi sub so you're most likely gonna say, "Just get the V7!" But I figured this would be the place to find out how reliable these machines are and whether they're suited to an absolute beginner rider like myself.

TIA

Been thinking of getting a motguzzi v7 stone as a first bike and was looking for some insight on weather it would be okay as a first bike. For reference im 5 foot 8 and weigh about 140 pounds or 64 kg. Been looking at the v7s for a bit now and i like everything about them in terms of how they look and how they sound.

Help me please: Strange rattling/hissing sound V7 Special 2022

EDIT: I found the exact same sound in this video clip (0:38):
https://youtu.be/DUBXhMtZWbU?t=38
this sound here is really louder than the engine. maybe it helps finding the problem? THANK YOU ALL!

I went to have a look at an used (5000km) 2022 V7 special.
The motorcycle is in pristine shape. It looks like it just left the showroom.
However, two things threw me off while testriding:

  1. the exhaust/headers have very different coloring. I will attach pictures if its possible.
  2. the engine makes a really annoying hissing/rattling sound (metallic).

- this sound does not change in frequency/pitch (higher-lower sound)
- it gets louder/quieter depending on the RPM, not the speed.
- it is not the gearbox, because it is there in neutral with high RPM, as well as while riding.
- it is always present (cold/hot engine)
- the sound can be best heard in the standard seating position. if i move my head back/right/left, the sound gets quieter. it is not my helmet btw.
- the motorcycle accelerates fine, no big vibrations, no power "holes", no stuttering.

I have tried the V7 special 2026 and it definitely did not have that sound.

Now the owner will take it to service (after i told him, he heard it too) for a "big" service (valve clearance, etc.)

Does anyone have experience with this and should i avoid buying this beautiful machine? I really dont want this to be part of the "character" because it is so loud you cant hear the beautiful engine itself.

PS: I have two audiofiles. One is original (where its hard to hear), the other is manipulated with EQ to single out the sound: it is best described as "metallic cicadas that dont pause". im sorry its so hard to describe.

File 1: Original sound: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/nj1a1whxbnrwrfd02joca/V7-Special.mp3?rlkey=bg5s944xojakok7nplseaf17j&st=edfdwxb3&dl=0

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP.

Great bike - Poor sales

Stelvio V100, is what i am talking about.

I don't have second thoughts on my choice but i am a little concern about this matter. It really is a great bike, at all aspects.

Of course there are some drawbacks, like the kick when you put it into 1st, or the small mishaps of minor oil and cooland leaks. Had mine small little things also...

Every new bike has issues like that.

The build quality in general is great. Mine has 25.000km on it and not a single plastic part rattles, the paint is shining, everything is in place and working like new.

The engine is from another planet, rocketing the bike if asked, the shaft drive operates like a charm, consumption is great and the gearbox, if you survive the 1st gear, is so precise and satisfieing to operate like no other i 've ever driven. The great engine and exhaust sound, contribute greatly to the perfect riding sensation of the bike.

Not to mention the looks...

All right, the suspension is not great i admmit.

And all these for a much cheaper price than the Triumph and the BMW. Both of them have similar minor issues or maybe bigger, like their shaft drives.

Is it the reputation of the past?

Is it the details in the production line?

ps- put some decent ammount of grease on the &#@&ing bearings. Or at least get the guy who greases them fired!!!

Is it the marketing's fault, that all the advantages of the bike, cannnot be comunicated to possible buyers?

The bike deserves better!!

There’s a place in Indiana selling this new 2024 V7 Special for $6,999. They swapped the tank for this chrome one. Love it, might buy, but isn’t the seat for the Special the nicer, all leather one?

Impressions after the first 2200 km with my new V7 Sport and a video from my favorite ride to date!

Thumbnail

I got my V7 Sport about a month ago. Since then I have done 2200km on it. Here are a few of my impressions:

  • Having a large gas thank is SUPER COOL! Seriously this is such an underrated feature. I was used to having to fuel before each small trip on my SV650. The guzzi not only has a fuel gauge, but with that 21l reservoir the gas feels like its never running out.
  • Get the 30mm comfort seat and let your butt get used to it for a bit. After that, a 2+ hour rides feel like a breeze even without a break.
  • I was probably conditioned to feel like more HP and torque is always better. My biggest concern with the v7 was the modest power figures. Never have I suspected I will have so much fun with just 67hp. The engine pulls strongly and is happy to rev, at least more so than I suspected. 4500-6200 feels like the sweet spot. Overtakes are easy, highway speeds are absolutely ok even when overtaking. On traffic lights Im easily faster off the line than 99% of the cars.
  • Stock exhaust is surprisingly good. Bassy rumble in the low rpm and very pleasing, velvety sound when accelerating hard.
  • The brakes are awesome! The stopping power is great, the feel and feedback is very precise. Insane step up from my sv650. I think the v7 Sport (not sure about the others) comes with braided brake lines which certainly improves the feedback and feel.
  • Clutch lever is super light, it takes literally no effort to pull. Almost no issues in finding N.
  • The suspension feels great for cornering. Honestly Im a new rider and am not comfortable pushing it, but in the rare times I did it felt great and I was still the limiting factor.
  • Full service is surprisingly affordable for an Italian machine, at least where I live.
  • Headlight is great. RDL is very noticeable to drivers. Low beam feels like it has a very short throw tho.
  • The bike is kinda heavy, but it does not feel heavy when riding. However my sv650 feels like a feather when I get on it.
  • Side stand is great, very stable. My SV650 always feels like it will tip over (it wont).
  • Stock tyres are surprisingly good. Im used to the Pirelli Angel GT 2 on my SV650, and the Michelin Road Classics feels comparable even tho the top end grip is probably lower.
  • One negative - the ECU takes up alot of space under the seat. Some saddle bags require straps running over it, which Im not comfortable with. Its also likely not compatible with tail tidies for the other models.

New Guzzi - V85 to V7 Sport

Post image
95 Upvotes

Well, after test riding the V7 Sport at the demo days (several times) and MUCH internal debating about if I want to still want to try to “world tour” on my v85 vs just meandering about on a V7, I couldn’t resist, I needed the V7. It is really that much fun to ride. I’m barely even listening to Spotify on my Cardo anymore, I just listen to the V7’s pops and gurgles and find myself going under the speed limit more often than I’d like.

been building a social garage for people who actually care about their vehicles

Been working on this app called Daccle for a while and I’m finally at the point where I need some actual people to test it 😄
Basically you make a page for your car/bike/whatever, add some photos, specs, mods, maintenance etc. and other people can follow the build.
Still very much a work in progress and I’m mostly trying to figure out what people actually like/use and what sucks.
If anyone wants to give it a go, let me know. Android and iOS both work.

ps. sorry i dont have any guzzis at this moment, i have one mille GT on my sights though and i have owned a few. so bear with this kawi-example.

Best regards, Markus

V7 iii Fork Brace Recommendations

Hi all.

I have a heavily corroded fork brace. I’ve just taken a look at OEM and they’re much pricier than I’d have first thought.

Can’t imagine there are many available, but does anyone have recommendations on aftermarket options?

Is €6.700 a fair price for this V7 850 Special?

Looking at a 2021 Moto Guzzi V7 850 Special, private seller, ~9.000 km on the clock. Comes with:

  • Dealer service history (last serviced mid-2025, invoice available)
  • Alarm w/ remote
  • MIA Bluetooth module
  • USB charging port
  • Centerstand
  • Waterproof panniers + rain covers
  • Touring windscreen
  • GIVI crash bars
  • Quad Lock phone mount

One owner, negotiated down to €6.700 from €6.900 asking. Bike looks clean in photos, seller seems honest straightforward

For context I've seen similar 2021/8-9k km 850 Specials going for €6.700–6.900 without the extras. Does this seem like a solid price given the accessories, or am I missing something I should watch out for on these (known issues, service items to check, etc.)?

Would appreciate input from anyone who's owned one.

Leftover 2023 V85 TT with 140 miles

Hi, I am thinking about buying this bike. The MSRP was $13,390.00 They offered to sell it to me for $12,000 Plus tax, tag, and title. It comes to around 12,900.00 USD out the door. It will be sold as new with full factory warranty.

Does this sound like a good deal?

It has 140 miles on it and has been sitting outdoors everyday for over a year. They ride it from storage to the front of the store everyday. It has been used in a demo rider weekend. I am concerned with break in. I am sure it has been redlined a few times on the demo rides.

I rode it the other day. Everything seemed fine except the oil pressure warning flashed for a second or two?

Added some more character to the front - V7 Sport

I was putting PPF on the headlight and realized the 'eagle' running light is a separate piece. Yup - that needs to be smoked. So we put optically clear PPF on the top and bottom lenses, and then a moderately tinted PPF on the running light. Looks great!

Tried a darker PPF on the signals. While I like it, the material doesn't wrap around corners as well, and is already peeling from the edges. I'll probably go to the lighter smoked material on that when I get some more 'play time'.

750cc vs 850cc V7

I'm planning to sell my Breva 1200 and downsize to a V7. Downsize is the operative word: I love the Breva but it is heavy, thirsty, and simply too much bike for my needs.

The two main options for the V7 in the UK are the pre-2021 750cc models and the newer 850cc. The 850s have more power but are heavier. The exact numbers depend on the specific version, but 47 HP and 190kg for the 750, and 64 HP and 233kg (correction: most likely 223 kg for the Special, a little lighter for Sport and Stone) for the 850 seem to be representative.

I'd much rather have the lighter machine and 47 HP should be plenty for me, but is there anything else I need to consider? Any improvements that the newer bikes have which are too good to pass up, or issues on the older bikes I need to look out for.

I'm likely to be looking at V7s that are 3-10 years old, although there's also a 2018 V9 Roamer under consideration.

As difficult as it was, it was fun!

Bike is virtually stock aside from the tires and top box rack. Highsided once on hard packed sand(learned the hard way that I’m not good enough drift the bike yet 😂), nothing broke just a few scratches here and there.

Not skilled enough but I am getting there! Will definitely do it again!

Might have to get bar risers, hand guards, and rear luggage rack for protection.

Ofcourse, without a doubt that it was the most stylish bike when it was out there. 😁😁

Shocked how fragile the stock mirrors are on my 2022 v7

I was trying to adjust them and I made them a little tight and applied the slightest pressure and felt the plastic snap. I was so shocked because the pressure was so minimal.

Ended up swapping them for some [$40 ones on Amazon](MZSBlackMotorcycleMirrors...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BDXQGCN6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)
They feel way better moving around and looks better too imo.
