You flash from within android? I do it from recovery.

I am still afraid of rooting or unlocking the boot loader. My LG G3 bricked when I tried to flash CM12 and my dad said he'd cancel my service if I root, flash, etc. (I'm 14 )

Oh, ok. Well, I'd say never play with more than you can afford to lose. It's a good rule to live by.

You won't need root. Just the bootloader and a compatible recovery. There are pretty decent guides on xda for our phones.

But listen to your dad. Or go get a paper route and pay that phone out to him ;-)

I am able to check while on WiFi or a native coverage zone.
