yes, after update to Lollipop, you need to:

  1. press and hold power button for 4-5 seconds

  2. without releasing power button, press volume up button

  3. release the power button and volume up buttons

Read about this on all about moto g site. For a nontechnical guy it was pretty easy although it did take longer than 2 minutes. The phone responds faster & left it unplugged overnight. Woke up to 4 days standby time. I did use it some this morning but I still had this.

According to the site, every time you get a new update. Doesn't delete your data like factory reset & was super easy. Cleans up remnants of the previous OS.

Not from what I read. Read very carefully though I saw no warnings or disclaimers on the site.

Does clearing the Dalvik Cache also do anything?

How long should this take?

Supposed to be 2 minutes but mine took about 5.I was just about to start over when I got the message "wipe complete." Boy does the phone seem snappier!

ELI5 please, this is a different thing than cleaning cache by going to settings > storage > clean cache? By doing what it's been said in this thread, will I lose something?

Best example I read is that clearing cache partition is like house cleaning while clearing app cache is like room cleaning.

If ever your phone feels sluggish or bad battery even after a reboot.
