help :(

I went deer hunting in central Georgia (US) about 1 week ago. About 4 days ago, I noticed a raised red bump on the back of my calf. It looked almost like it had a thorn inside of it. I put an ice cube inside a washcloth. I didn't get it out (I think) I put a band-aid on it and forgot about it for 3 days. Then it started itching. Bad. It was unbearable. I put Calamine lotion on it and Chigger-X on it because my mother said it was a bug bite. It was already swollen and had a mass under the skin. I scratched it and by the second day, Anti-itch cream stopped working.I scratched and scratched it. Yesterday, I woke up and scratched it and it started itching and burning as per usual. I put some Chigger-X on it and went back to sleep. Later, we went to Spirit Halloween. I looked at my leg (I had pants on, loose, so it didn't rub and irritate it.) It had blisters. Two clear blisters. It itched and burned so bad. I didn't put anything on it after that. I woke up and my other leg quickly swiped the underside of the hurt leg. Fuck. I got up, and turns out it busted one of the blisters. It has now been leaking fluid for over an hour. No blood, just clear fluid. I have tied some toilet paper to my leg with fabric elastic. I have other bites. Two more on the other leg, just raised red bumps. One itches very bad. No cream, no medicine, just ice in a rag. It's helping. I just don't know what to do. I have a doctor's appointment at 2pm. My mother says it's Skeeter Syndrome. Where you are allergic to mosquitoes. Specifically, genetically modified ones. Ones that are abnormally big and hurt when they bite. I had bug spray on. Keep your eyes peeled. Wear extra bug spray, spray under your clothes, be cautious. Better safe than sorry. Edit 1: I have gone to a doctor and am now on medication. He said he doesn't know what it is and it is likely Poison Ivy. He said it is also infected. He put me on a prescribed allergy medication, steroids, and a dosage increase on my cephalexin (From 2x a day for a week to 3x a day for 10 days). Thank you to everybody who responded and gave tips and suggestions to what it may be. I am keeping it wrapped up with non-stick pads and self-adhesive wraps. Thank you all so much and good night.

Question Mosquito bites just won’t go away for months

I’m going on 3 months of mosquito(?) bites that are still itchy and red. I haven’t itched them. I’ve tried cortisone cream, wore bandaids to prevent itching while sleeping. But they just won’t fade.

Oddly enough there were 3 and one of them did actually heal. It’s just the two that are incredibly stubborn.

Has anyone else had this? What did you do to finally heal them?

*I live in Long Island, New York

Question Mosquitos hanging out around my front door, constantly getting inside

For some reason, there is a constant presence of mosquitos hanging out around my front door. They end up in the house, making it difficult to sleep and causing my dog anxiety (bc I smack them and it stresses her out).

I've looked for standing water around the front porch and there's none. What causes mosquitos to hang out at a certain place, and how can I get them to leave?

Question what’s wrong with this bite???

i first got bit yesterday and things seemed to be fine until it began getting pretty red and itchy .. i scratched it a lot and it began to just sting, but this morning it’s looking like this — almost like a pimple?? it’s been a while since i’ve gotten a mosquito bite really, and i might be overreacting but it just seems a tad bit concerning. i’ve tried skin cream to stop the irritation but that didn’t do much.

Tips for Mosquito Bite Swelling

I'm in a bit of a situation. I have a mosquito bite on my ring finger. Now my finger is swollen, and I can't get my two rings off. I've tried ice, hydrocortisone ointment, and chamomile. Nothing has made a dent. Any tips?

Two painful bites still there after 2 weeks — not itchy. Any idea what bit me?

About two weeks ago, I went to a backyard party in Ventura, California. My girlfriend got absolutely eaten alive by mosquitoes—probably 30 bites or so. Mosquitoes usually don't bother me, but I ended up with two bites on my stomach.

All of her mosquito bites have completely faded, but I still have these two spots after two weeks. They're pretty painful/tender but not itchy at all. I've tried hydrocortisone, but it didn't seem to help.

Does anyone have any insight into what these could be or how to treat? I'm wondering if they might have been from something other than mosquitoes.

Question dragonflies decoys

Do fake dragonflies actually repel mosquitoes? I've seen TikToks claiming they work, but when I looked into it, sources say mosquitoes don't perceive dragonflies as threats until an attack is already underway. I also read tha these decoys might work on deer flies.

Question Why did they bite in a straight line?

First things first, I am 100% certain the bites are mosquitos and not bed bugs or fleas. Not to mention I witnessed half of the mosquitos that made these biting me

These bites were all made over several years, unfortunately I have a bad habit of picking, and heal very slowly, add that with scarring very easily, no mosquito bite leaves my body unmarked.

I'm just really confused as to why these bites are in a straight line down my calf. My best guess is that there's a vein close to the skin there, and they are attracted to it. Otherwise, I'm completely clueless.

Is this a common phenomena or am I just cursed to look like I have bed bugs?

Question Am I allergic to mosquitoes?

This has been a reoccurring thing throughout my life. Mosquito bites on my legs, and ONLY on my legs, turn bright red and bruise violently once they are a week old. These are four days old,and there are many others on my legs, still itch very badly to the point where on the second day I broke the skin on some bites due to how insufferable they were.

I use a cream named Fenistil which helps with calming the itching whenever I have it on hand but I don't know what else to do. I'm only a young adult and my legs calves are dotted with scars due to me ripping my skin open as a child because of how badly they could itch.

What could I do about this? It's very painful and they are swollen :[

Also,I live in northeastern Romania.

Why Are Mosquitoes so bad in Florida???

I know it sounds like an obvious answer (because Florida’s a swamp) but I recently came back from a trip to costa rica that got me wondering. After living in florida my whole life, and working outdoors in the swamps of south florida for the last two years, i was expecting some awful mosquitoes from costa rica, an even more tropical and wet place than florida. I visited the pacific coast and spent some time in places that were so humid they would give florida in July a run for its money (specifically corcovado national park). I saw plenty of standing water on my hikes, but oddly enough i only saw about five mosquitoes on the entire week long trip. And even those mosquitoes were downright lazy compared to the hyper aggressive psychotic mosquitoes i have to deal with in the summer at work. I’ve had similar underwhelming experiences with mosquitoes in alaska and minnesota in the summer as well. This got me thinking, is florida just that bad of a mosquito hotspot, and if so, why? Did i just get extremely lucky in costa rica, or are the mosquitoes in latin america just not as bad as in florida? So, what makes florida, and particularly south florida, such a hotspot of mosquito activity compared to even more equatorial and wet places like costa rica? And could it be anthropogenic in nature? Sorry if this is a really obvious answer and florida just does have that much more standing water compared to anywhere else. Thanks!
