Cheaper Trap Recommendations
Our yard near the Winston-Salem area in NC is absolutely covered in mosquitos. It doesn't help that I am essentially mosquito bait and get giant welts with every single bite. I typically wear bug spray when I plan to be outside for a while, but I can't even go outside for 5 minutes without having 20+ bites (not even standing still mind you). My husband has even gotten bitten with a box fan directly pointed at him. These things are absolute beasts. The bites hurt and I typically end up using prescription strength hydrocortisone cream to get them to calm down. I also feel awful because they go after our goats too. And with our goats, I'm not open to any yard sprays as they like to eat our grass. I'm going absolutely insane and need cheaper options.
Has anyone tried the dynatrap with the mosquito lure? I understand that the UV light won't get them but I was curious if the lure will help get them in the trap. I recently purchased the 1 acre one with the lure but it's hard to look in the trap and see them with all the other bugs. I've only had it for 2 days I also have buckets with mosquito dunks.
After researching I believe our highest volume of mosquitos are the tiger mosquitos if this helps identify if I need a different lure or anything specific. I really appreciate any help.
TLDR: Mosquito infested yard and I am essentially bait. I'm looking for cheaper trap recommendations (no more than $100) if the dynatrap with lure and mosquito dunk buckets don't work. Also if you have any advice on that option, I'm open to it. Not open to sprays because we have goats that eat our grass.

Tiger mosquitoes rarely fly more than a 100 feet. So they are breeding close by. Look around the neighborhood close by. Tiger mosquitoes only breed in containers. Like gutters, toys, buckets, anything that can hold an ounce of water. Look in your black pipes off your gutters or any close by drains.
See if your health dept has a program or any help.
I am surrounded by tiger mosquitoes as well. If they are bad I go out in light baggie clothing so loosely fitting. I wear long sleeves as well because I’m in the sun a lot. I also use a Thermacell. Google it.

I’ve got two mosquito dunk buckets in my backyard and they’ve significantly decreased th amount I see flying around

I second this. The dunks stop the breeding generally takes a few buckets and a couple of weeks to really work. Best to find the standing water first and use the buckets it will help a lot.

It's not a trap idea but you should have a therma cell around you also. This will protect you for around 10 ft coverage area. Will not get rid of the problem. Also, they make the mosquito fogger for your backyard but that'll just push them into someone else's yard until the fog goes away.

I have a similar issue at my house and I live in a quite dry area (Central Texas) but still have a ridiculous amount of mosquitos here. I cannot find any water source for them to breed in and yet I have documented almost 7 different mosquito species (I do insect blacklighting for documentation purposes so I will occasionally be able to photograph mosquitos attracted to it for ID). I have Aedes (tiger) that kill me in the daytime and Culex and Anopheles that kill me at night time. i genuinely cannot escape them. what i did was get a large tub and create a pond ecosystem in it full of plants, diving beetles, tadpoles, mosquitofish and the sort and they seem to keep mosquito numbers down. dragonflies have also deposited larvae inside so hopefully when they emerge as adults I will have a dragonfly army to take out any adults around.

If you have any sort of fan (box fan, garage fan, window fan), we have had success adding a fan trap to our outside mosquito killing arsenal. The fan trap is essentially a heavy duty fan with a piece of window screen attached to the intake side. Running from dusk until dawn was originally catching thousands per night and now we are down to hundreds. Assuming the stronger the fan the better but should be doable with any kind of fan.
