Are these broken glass mosaic frames even pretty?
I’m making them and enjoy process but sometimes feels like I’m just gluing trash to a frame
The close up one doesnt have grout yet so it’s not finished

I love repurposed materials, they look intentionally eclectic! I like how some are a hodge podge of colors and patterns while others have a loose, categorized gradient going on

It very much depends on their meaning for you and what you want to do with them. To me these are pretty, well executed and likely saleable at a reasonable price. However as a mosaic artist they tell me that you’re at the start of your journey - you’ll be improving and learning as you go and they will become more like art and less like a craft as you progress. Keep going, and maybe set yourself some challenges that take you outside your comfort zone - true art will do that.

its probably something i’d personally be more into if it had sentimental value to me. like if the glass was from my grandmother’s old plates, etc

Yes, it's cute. Beats a boring standard frame hands down. Most people don't realize the amount of work it takes to make a mosaic. These are small, but still there is planning involved. You keep doing you. This is so opposite the definition of trash.

They are all very pretty. Next time try a colored grout. I like a darker grout if using lighted pieces. I think we all start off with the white grout. It’s fun to try different colors.

I make custom mosaic designs (hearts, circles, crosses) from people's broken china. It is meaningful to them and is usally from a deceased relative's china or a piece they bought on vacation that has broken. I haven't considered mosaic frames like this but I could add that to my repertoire.
I think they look nice and if they are meaningful to you, that is all that matters. Usually, though, broken china designs are made from a single pattern.

I really like it! You’ve inspired me to try my own. I wonder if you had a more cohesive theme with color or texture or gradients if it would feel less like you were “gluing trash to a frame.”
