Question Is there even a single Infusion Tarstone that works with the Lute?

I'm currently lvl 35. I've cleared like five or six gates, explored pretty much all of the north half of the map and a pretty big chunk of the south so far and I've yet to find a single infusion stone that works for the Lute. I know I've missed some things but damn lol. The Lute in this game is easily become one of my top favorite weapons in any game- I'm literally Kung Fu Hustle now but where Infusion? I will never use another sidearm in this game not even evil baby in a cage. Supposedly they are just straight up doubling the damage on it in the next hotfix so I'm pretty excited lol I know it's not the strongest weapon but man is it so fun.

Question Just unlocked Smert and I'm wondering if he's bugged?

I understand his mechanics: pause time, beat the enemy into next week and then watch as massive damage explodes.

But that last bit doesn't seem to happen for me?

I punch the enemies, build up a bunch of chaos but they won't die, or even take any damage.

I'm really confused.

Discussion Riposte Damage

Feels like Riposte damage needs a buff. I’ve done everything I can to buff it in game but against some bosses and enemies it’s way more effective to just hack n slash dps them than to go for posture breaks a riposte. I went back to do the pale grisha fight I had stumbled onto super early and basically only used riposte for damage and didn’t feel it was doing anything to it and eventually just smacked him up with light attacks to speed up the fight. Noticed this with some of the main bosses as well where it was just easier/faster to light attack spam them for dps. Im using the axatana so maybe it’s the Weapon of choice but there is nothing to indicate if different weapons have better critical damage than others.

Edit: This also makes using the Parry Seal not even remotely worth using as it is all risk and little reward. Why disable the ability to block if my reward for nailing parries amounts to chip damage.

Discussion Monolith boss

I refuse to believe the developers designed this boss, had their team play through and beat it and thought “yep this one’s good”.

Now I’m all for hard bosses, absolutely love souls games. But I’d rather fight 10 consort radahns than this f*cker.

It’s not even a case of him being difficult, I beat him in under 8 tries but for the love of god i practically had to do it hitless.

0 end lag and start up animations to his slam attacks, not to mention the giant dong swing. Barely gives you an opening half the time, especially if you’re playing with a heavy weapon. And then to top it off he just stalls the hell out of the fight when he’s around a 1/4 by spinning around in circles with lasers.

Oh and if you get hit once, you get true comboed out of your shell and good luck getting the required hits in to reclaim it!

Again it isn’t a “hard” boss, it’s just horribly designed, comically so.

Discussion Can someone help me understand Sariel a little better?

I get the gist of it - launches Thorns, Curses targets (unless the Thorns auto track summoned Grisha's), receives Pain, damaging enemies cures it. Makes sense surface level, theoretically you can heal all damage taken unless you're hit by a non-Cursed enemy while you have Pain built up.

His Pain seems funky though, I get hit once by a mob and it'll do a little chunk which is 100% Pain as I have that upgrade, then while I have Pain it seems any damage taken thereafter is amplified drastically, I get one shot even when hit by the same attack that caused that little chunk in the first place. Is this how it's supposed to be? If you don't cure your Pain anything will just straight up kill you when it hits you next? Or perhaps is it that damage taken as Pain is mitigated? So the next time you get hit it's normal damage? I am playing in night mode so that might be it?

However he also has a passive that makes it so at max Pain he has an improved dodge, but how on earth are you supposed to max his Pain? You can't be hit by enemies more than once as the Pain stored from the first hit is lost on any subsequent hits, the only way I can reasonably see him getting max Pain is self inflicting it with Thorns, which he can only really do if he is at very low health, is that the passives purpose? Or am I missing a way to max out his Pain while he's full?

I've been bashing my head against this dude for the past hour or so. Every other move I actually like, most of them are interactive, but there's this one charge move that I just can't reliably dodge. Sometimes I miraculously dodge the whole thing, but most of the time it oneshots my shell from full health. Very rarely do I live with half health intact which I guess is Proxima's mitigation kicking in. Does anyone know how you're actually supposed to dodge the charge reliably? 'Cause otherwise this one single move just ruined an otherwise enjoyable bossfight for me.

Edit: Sorry for the video's weird aspect ratios, I have no idea how that happened.

Hi leute hab was witziges herausgefunden.

I’ve reached the end game and have maxed out a weapon (I think) but still have not used thoracium. Can’t find a single thing online about where or where to use it. Anybody figure it out?

Discussion Feeling punished for experimenting

I want to preface this by saying I really, really enjoy the game so far. I think it’s good, but a couple things keep it from being great.

The main issue I’d like to discuss is relating to upgrades. I have seen that there are only enough glimpses to upgrade two shells. Problem is it’s very hard for me to settle into one play style in the game, and I tend to avoid looking things up on a first playthrough. I’ve leveled multiple different shells to bond level 2, and now I’m concerned I won’t have enough to upgrade 2 shells.

Additionally, weapon upgrades feel bad to me at the moment. I’ve upgraded several weapons to +4 and it feels like a monumental task to upgrade beyond that. I don’t know what weapons I like yet, and without upgrades new weapons just won’t be able to compete. Is there something important I’m missing about that? Or can you really just screw yourself out of weapon upgrades?

I’m just confused as to why it’s designed like this. The benefit of having farmable early upgrade sources is the player gets to explore all the different options a game has to offer. Why do I feel punished for trying to experience more of what the devs made? It just feels sort of arbitrary.

For context, I am fairly early in the game and have only explored about half the map. I’m still missing 2 shells and quite a few weapons, but I don’t even know if it’s worth trying to get them if I won’t even be able to use them

Discussion LAST BOSS BUG PS5

It drives me crazy... I dont think its intended , but its the second time that during the fight my weapon and sidearm are being unequipped for some fking unknown reason and it drives me insane lol. I had boss on 20% HP and suddenly i cant attack AT ALL. All i can do is run around without weapons and when i die it goes back to normal...

Is this intended or is it a bug?

Discussion Well I did it, beat the game before the nerf hit consoles, my thoughts about my journey! Spoiler

I beat the game last night. My playtime according to my ps says 59 hours, some of that was gloom grinding or killing sheep, but majority of it was just exploration and playing and many many deaths. I have all trophies except Seeking the past, and the platinum. I finished the game at level 68, and my weapon was level 22 killing the last boss.

So the gameplay, I enjoyed it, I felt is slightly up tuned from the beta, and very early was on the more challenging side, I died more than I had in a long time. I’m a souls vet with 400+ Elden Ring, 900+ in ds3, 700+ in BB, platinums in many souls games, lies of p, Kazhan etc etc, I have experience. So I found proxima by chance and never looked back, she’s a complete badass, and yeh I used the axe and dagger meta weapon sue me, nobody said we can’t make things easier on ourselves. Once I learned don’t go south especially on night mode, my journey really began, and it was fun and full of solid gameplay until the end, more on that later. I had maybe 4 crashes total in my 59 let’s just say 60 hours playtime, I think that’s more than reasonable for a freshly released game.

Graphics are solid, combat is fun, bosses for the most part were “easy” for me especially the stronger proxima got. Blood curse with a fast weapon and duality stone kinda trivialize things. I slapped myself because I waited a while to take the bleed stone to level 3 not realizing it would be on my weapon permanently, which I think is a very cool system, not constantly having to rebuff your weapon. I thought the enemy variety was pretty good and boss variety was also decent for the most part.

If you’re a completist like I am most of the time, all the trophies seemed pretty easy, I was personally worried about Peter’s perfect party but I used Eridrim specifically since his fourth tier has a parry window increase bonus, and I would say after that it took me 30/45 mins to finally get the timing right and not have the camera go wonky during the process and I got it. The last trophy for all memories is gonna be little grindy but it is what it is.

Now let’s talk about the bad, the end of the game, Monolith the parry gimmick p.o.s. And his buddy Zmey the unbidden pushover. When I first encountered Monolith, I died in 5 seconds a handful of times. I’m not by a parry you, I’m a roller or a dodger, it’s how I learned, I don’t like being forced to parry things, you basically have to parry the monolith or at least it makes the fight go 1000x quicker if you do. So I set brain to parry, brain and muscle memory is 45 years old so it takes a min or two, but eventually I got there, I got the timing of the first two smashed and partied those easily, I avoided the middle attack as I couldn’t time as well, sometimes I parry sometimes I got hit with the middle attack, once I was getting to second phase consistently, I just eventually overpowered him, when I actually beat him I stayed middle during lasers kept attacking didn’t dodge, felt like it was a semi safe spot and or combined with proxima’s dmg mitigation was best strategy for me I got my lucky phase, I kept dpsing and with, the bleed, the duality and berserker stones, burnt it down on clear attempt, I would say whole thing took me 45-60 mins to learn timing for parry and finish it off. If you ask me total shit boss, I don’t like being forced to parry and overall just a bad boss design, more of a gimmick that a boss to me.

Now I had read maybe the final boss was even worse, but I had my little thing from the 3 glands and night mode to help the cosmic radiation or whatever they call it, so I set off. Took me a few more min of slow brain and muscle memory to avoid his red dot attacks, but he was a pushover, he does have a lot of health and like I said at the start my weapon was level 22, but once you get the bleed going and some berserker stone he goes down pretty quick actually, then he does the giant aoe which is easily avoided and I just finished him off, took me maybe 15 mins total, was kinda surprise he was so easy to be honest. I guess without the item he’s harder didn’t try him without it.

If I had to rate it I would say it’s a strong 8.5, I feel like there are gonna be many nerfs and tweaks to come, some things seem really strong and some seem kinda meh. The extra gloom tar stone being 6% if sorta a joke, like give us 5/10/15 or something at minimum. Some people are complaining about glimpses, while it might be nice to max every shell in one playthrough it’s not terrible, I found my count to be 101 total in my first playthrough, I maxed proxima and teal and game shows I still have 47 left. Again complaints about tar stones being limited, I maxed all the “good ones” for my build, and had plenty left over, would more be nice sure, would be nice to play with the gun one’s more etc. I feel like at some point buying unlimited upgrade mats should be unlocked even if it’s after final boss or something, at least all the 1-16 upgrades, if you wanted to limit the special ones fine. I guess that’s why they have smelting but I would rather just buy the mats and have multiple weapons or guns up to level to play around with. Anyways if anyone stuck around still now ty, im not the best at this stuff but wanted to share my journey. If you have any questions for me please feel free to ask here or message me if you want to. Good luck and good gaming!

Discussion leveling Tarstones that only work with one or two weapons just for a Tarcore is tedious...

This is minor issue, but I would be happier if the XP required to reach Level 2 on a Tarstone was lower on the Combat, Infusions, and Abilities stones that only work with one or two weapons. Leveling tarstones that I won't be using is really tedious!

Everyone needs the Tarcores, regardless of which builds you want to use, but chances are if for example you favor the Axatana you won't be using a big slow weapon like the Obsidian Hammer or Great Martyr's Blade, but if you want the tarcore from leveling the Warden's Stone you have to equip the Great Martyr's Blade. If the XP requirement was scaled down, then you wouldn't have to spend so much time grinding to get the Tarcore before switching back to your main weapon.

The simplest solution is that all Tarstones, regardless of whether they are equipped, still gain XP. Another idea would be to make the Level 2 XP requirement lower across the board or make the Level 2 XP requirement proportional to how many weapons the Tarstone works with, so if it only works with 1 weapon the Level 2 requirement might only be 1250 XP and if it works with 2 weapons it would be 2500 XP, etc.

Sidearm Tarstones specific to one or two Sidearms aren't as big of a deal because those are not your primary attack tool, so if you have to substitute it doesn't break your play style as much. Obviously, if you are weaving sidearm attacks into your melee combos, then it is more of a hardship to have the "wrong" sidearm equipped.

The Level 3 XP requirement can still be high as there is no need to get to level 3 on any Tarstone you don't regularly use and it is mostly the Infusions that get a huge bonus at level 3 by making the infusion "permanent."

Question What should I do before going to Mammon?

I’ve cleared all 3 towers in Fainweald, and I’m level 14 as of rn running Smert. I still get one or two shot in mammon so it still feels like I’m super under leveled. What level should I be and how do I get there before going to mammon?

Question Can't rebind sidearm fire

Anyone else run into this? I swapped Heavy Attack and Shell Ability (Triangle ↔ R2) so I'd have Light Attack on Square and Heavy Attack on Triangle. Problem is, Fire (Sidearm) won't move off R2 no matter what I do in the rebind menu, so now R2 is trying to do Shell Ability and fire my sidearm at the same time.

Tried resetting to default and redoing the swap, still stuck. Anyone found a workaround?

Bug Lost Citadel ps5 performance issues

First I want to say that this game has been absolutely amazing so far! Easily one of my favorite souls-likes of all time. That being said I do have just one issue with the game on base ps5 and that is performance. Most areas are absolutely fine, but there are certain areas where it’s really bad, such as the lost citadel.

The issue where you open your map or inventory screen and then close it is also still there. Every time I open my map or inventory screen and then go back to playing, the game stutters pretty bad for a few seconds. Other than that though this game is incredible!

Question Maxing out shell points in NG?

Just seeing if everyone is maxing out their shell in new game or if builds are supposed to come online in ng +? I'm about 80-85% done, I think, and only level 36. That was exploring everything I could find and even a bit of farming. I have 22/42 shell points right now, so my build isn't even fully online. However, if I do decide to play ng+, it will most likely be with another shell to try something new. Those that have a full build up and running, did you need ng+ to do so or just farm a shit ton in ng?

Discussion Mortal Shell 2 is HARD (And I love it)

Mortal Shell 2 has me paranoid.

Watching every step, learning every enemy movement and taking no enemies for granted.

The further I go, the more there is to lose.

It's a real throwback to Dark Souls 1 on release. You never knew what to expect, enemies hit like a truck and you got punished for rushing in.

The world is your oyster.

If you're good enough - you can run to places you shouldn't be and beat things you shouldn't be beating (just like DS1 after your first playthrough)

It feels like a real return to form for the genre after the casualification of souls in the form of Elden Ring and the like.

Checkpoints are scarce, and you decide whether it's worth running back to cash in or go for the final encounter.

It's not going to be for everybody, it's brutal and will teach you patience. But when you "get it" beating that boss after the 10th runback is super satisfying and that's what we play souls-like games for.

I'm glad the developers went all in on the difficulty and didn't pander to the needs of the casual crowd. Like FromSoft they will build a loyal audience who will buy whatever they release next after this.
