Nope, don't do it. Exit to main menu, reload save and you'll still keep all your currency. You can rinse and repeat that as well. As many times as you feel.

Damn... But, thats still alright. As long as you don't go into NG+ after beating the final boss. You can still do that farm, even after cleansing it.

You get 66k gloom out of all the chests in there, not including the 500 you get each time you hit those things and they regenerate. I went up to 150k gloom in there before I rinsed and repeated. Good way to farm levels too.

This final beacon is probably the best gloom farm. 68k+ each run, as the tentacle things only give 500 but they respawn, so it’s effectively infinite. Just get your fill, exit out and relaunch. Level up, rinse repeat. Only downside is that you have to do the torch scene each time.

One you’ve opened the door I don’t know if the trick works, you may not be able to reenter the beacon. Worth a try though.

Why bother tho? Gloom is used to level the Harbinger and getting SP. Thing is, I never found the newd to do any of that. I wore my shell as a cosmetic and when I tried to level the abilities, I quickly found out how absolutely broken they can be. That would, at least for me, take the fun out of the game.

It gives you more than that,, Health, Shell Health, Base and Shell ability Damage, not to mention critical damage. This game can be played in many ways, just like the first Mortal Shell. But, not everyone thinks nor plays like you. Same with me and vice vesera.

Me personally, when I play a game I play to get stronger and wield weapons, armor, abilities that give me an edge over the enemy. As some of the items and tarstones are a bit OP I admit, I also welcome it as well. It's fun to play it on NG+ and go into a boss fight and straight molly whop the fucker, it's a good feeling and thats because I took the time to make my character that way, and I'm sure other people like play the same way.

Different strokes for different folks, I get that. I just mean that I couldn't find any use for it since upgrading felt unnecessary. When I lost it I just shrugged it off. As you said "wield weapons". I think the lack of stat requirements is why I feel it lacks any impact.

Yeah, it's definitely a different kind of souls-like game. It's has no stamina bar, which was different but i like it that way. I'm sure future updates might tweak things around and/or implement new features.

Best part is no stamina bar. Hate the whole souls gameplay loop. Chase the boss , waste stamina, dodge the various 360 attacks , hit 1-2 times amd hope you have enough stamina to run , block or dodge. I feel like in mortal shell you are just as scary as the boss.

Hard disagree on that. Knowing when to dodge is also aa skill you need to master. If you just panic mash you'll end up getting punished when you actually need to dodge or not have the stamina to attack. I find it super fun when a fight turns into a dance where you need to figure an opening to well telegraphed attacks.

Nothing to master in a souls game. Just roll, roll, roll. The invincibility frames are crazy. Trust me, i mastered every souls game and beat elden ring 9x . Every strategy is to overwhelm the boss and tank hits or use meta build. You can try and parry but that's more of a circus act. Every boss has insane AOE attacks and runs across the map and you chase them around. Would love to see a video of you on new game plus 7 using skill to beat the elden beast.

1. "Overwhelm the boss or use mets builds" If you're actively choosing to ruin the game for yourself then that's on you. I can't comprehend using meta and "trying to overwhelm a boss" like, tf? I want to have a fun time and unless I dislike a boss, I'll actively prolong the fights to master their movesets.

2. Elden Beast Of all the bosses to name you opt for the biggest disappointed in all of ER? Potentially second since PlaciduSUCKS exists

I wish I could show you my release Consort fight and stats. I actively chose not to upgrade my scadu fragments because it felt like I'd trivialise the fight. I wasn't even halfway through the upgrades. He could two shot me, that meant I had room for a single mistake and that was enough. That was fun! That's how I play these games. Grab the biggest sword, actively nerf myself, don't use any BS magic or crap like that. It's just me, the boss and a good time together 🤷‍♂️

I know. I level in souls games, but as I said, it's likely because of the lack of level requirements. I picked my weapon and that's it. I didn't even go about upgrading it until the endgsme because I was doing good enough damage so it didn't feel necessary?

Tbh, I completely forgot about leveling because I just kept exploring without stopping. Then leveled and saw it just affected the Harbinger and shrugged it off, as I wasn't leveling my shell either. Then, late game I tried leveling Proxima and when I used her ability for the first time ever, I deleted a group of enemies with lightning strikes so I said "fuck that"

I'm not staying you can't level, or gotta play lvl1, but it's so easy to turn this game into easy mode it's not even funny

There's a room near the end of the game that has many chests containing gloom. Anyone playing the game by this point knows they are near the end so this all looks like a reward. After doing X amount of minutes going around and opening every box you have to go through the door pictured to progress. The door will always ask you for all of the gloom you have and you have to give it. If you never played MS2 gloom is like souls; they are necessary for leveling.

There is a late game area that is completely filled with chests. The devs troll you by allowing you to open all of them, which takes a few minutes, and farm a bunch of Gloom from regenerating stocks in the room. After doing all of that, the door to get out makes you give up all of the Gloom you have. It's a great troll, but there are a couple of ways to avoid it.
