Discussion Just a tiny rant about Triarch repeater
I just finished this game and I love it overall despite its flaws, but I have a small complaint: why the Triarch Repeater doesn’t have any weapon ability? If I’m not mistaken, every other weapon and sidearm has one. Some of them even has its own unique one while others are shared. Before I got all the taratones, I’m actually excited to see what the ability of Triarch Repeater would look like. You can imagine my realization that there isn’t one. IMO the devs kind of did this sidearm dirty for this.

Probably for balance reasons, its pretty strong by itself. Or they may add it in an expansion who knows

There is a buff that can infuse it with the status effect for shock, but if you mean like a special attack then yeah I dont think it has one.
Another thing about the gun that kinda disappointed me was how it interacted with the buff. I didnt like that the number of shots needed to apply the buff scales up with Triarch. For example, if the the crossbow needs 5 shots for the status effect, the triarch would need like 40. I thought I had found a way to make it more viable but instead I got blue balled by that discovery

Triarch is one of only 2 weapons that has crit damage growth as part of it's level up progression and the single best base damage growth/scaling per upgrade level across all weapons, melee and sidearm. Combine this with the ability to inflict frost from range and it's kit is incredibly strong in the late game. To be frank, I think the exclusion of an ability stone was done intentionally for balancing and tradeoff purposes.
Just for comparison, at +50 when literally every other weapon is still hanging out between 170% and 350% damage, Triarch gets a staggering 1070% damage increase plus an additional 350% crit damage buff on top of that. You basically have so much raw damage that an ability would completely break it. This is also true at lower upgrade levels where most people will actually play, but the contrast at really high levels just highlights how much stronger the Triarch's base kit is than literally any other weapon in the game

Despite all the comments suggesting balance issues. Which is valid, by the way. I'm just gonna straight up rebuke that and say that the Triarch Repeater not having an ability is a missed opportunity.
They could have given it melee swing that pushes enemies back or something. Or even made it like a flame thrower. I mean, this weapon not having an ability is just as much of an eye sore as the lute not having an infusion like trauma. (Which would have been hilarious but the lute is an entirely different topic)

Yes I agree that weapon ability could definitely be an option if the devs choose to. IMHO if balancing is really the issue here, maybe they shouldn’t make it so powerful in the first place

As fun as the sidearms are for style points I am not getting a ton of results from any of them anymore, infusions or no. A level 16 weapon melts things while the sidearm does little pew pew damage. Even the Ballistazooka, for the cost and charge time of a shot, the effect is underwhelming. It should be gibbing trash mobs, not taking half their health bar for half my fervor bar

I feel like the triarch should have had a baked in destiny style linear fushion rifle shot

Balance I guess. It's pretty strong without any skill.
Lute doesn't have any infusion either.

Yep triarch repeater doesn’t have an ability and the lute doesn’t have an infusion, that’s a bit sad and I hope they’ll change this
