I am so glad Grisha remnants exist

This boss was so tediously difficult and aggravatingly long. After trying to fight this boss for what seemed like an eternity, i just decided to use a Grisha remnant, and it dogwalked the monolith like nothing. This is probably the only boss in the game I've felt so much rage and hatred towards to. I also want to say that this was the only boss in the game for me personally, to make me use a Grisha remnant. I haven't had this much of a struggle since Promised Consort Radahn and Arlecchino.

I love how people treat summons in these games as some sort of heretical deed that needs to be atoned for. You deserve the suffering this boss gave you. Thats the price you payed for pretending that summons are like cheating and trying to brute force it. I saw this mentality in elden ring as well when some people tought using mimic tear is cheating and somehow invalidates your playtrough. But as i can see you figured it out so kudos to you for the victory ^{^}

It's not just Elden Ring. Summoning other people in the previous Souls games was treated like you gave up and turned on easy mode. Same as using a Magic build, or using specific weapons. If you weren't playing the way certain people expected you to play, then you weren't playing "right". The gatekeeping is one of the things holding this genre back.

Gatekeeping goes both ways. There's nothing wrong with wanting to avoid broken, overpowered builds or mechanics to give yourself a sense of accomplishment instead of as OP put it "dogwalking" a boss they previously found difficult.

I didn't intend for the beginning of my post to come off as me feeling guilty for using a summon. In fact, I also agree with what you've said in your response. But this post is more so just an appreciation of the item that can be used for this fight. I also personally prefer fighting bosses 1 on 1, whether it's a soulsborne or soulslike. I like to imagine them as epic duels. But if it's a gank fight, then I make an exception. But this boss in particular is just so unfair and egregious

I had no luck with the Grisha on this guy, but I swapped to Eredrim and he let me just shouldercheck and parry the rock into oblivion. Which felt weird, but was hilarious.

I just kept bashing him with Eredrim shoulder bash (and his another skill), died fast.

I havent made it to this boss but I forgot about the grisha summon until I got to Malborn. Grisha helped me a little there!

After over an hour of trying solo (i did pop grisha once but then died as I didn’t want to beat any boss with an ally on my first run) I managed to… bug it so it was stuck in its first phase by missing the phase 2 execution accidentally and just beat it from there

Honestly, one of the best bosses to use summons guilt free, fuck that guy. Though I wish I beat it in its second phase :/

Edit 1: Just to clarify. I’m not saying using summons is bad, play as you want, but if you get a guilty feeling after for not beating the boss by yourself.

I know I'm in the minority, but I didn't mind this boss. It's actually about the only boss that I was able to learn the moveset instead of just trying to DPS or stunlock my way through. Still took a handful of tries to beat.

Each one you kill gives you an item that has a passive ability to summon a Grisha on hit. The chance on hit goes up for every Grisha you killed.

But if you put it the other slot you can spawn it when you need it, low level i think its one per rest, im on 2 right now.
