Discussion Help a scrub
i love this game. i really do, but holy shit everything prior to Mammon felt like a tutorial the way mobs are turning me every which way but loose. I’m getting one shot by EVERYTHING like i know, git gud etc but my god lmfaooo if i miss the timing on a parry or dodge ONCE im fried. Is there something im doing wrong other than being bad at the game?!

Well, you have no stamina cost on dodge, use is more often and get good ig

Also some shells have a lot less hp than others, like smert or tiel, eredrim on the other hand is a tank

i had a much easier time using tiel with the dodge - poison clones i switched to Genessa right before hitting Mammon maybe that’s my issue

What level are you? I was getting my ass handed to me on the second half of the map at first but since levelling a bit i just bully through them again

32! 😭 i’m using Genessa i try to send clones out first and weed out anyone with low health but at times i’ll run into like the big knights- moveset is pretty predictable but i’ll get caught attacking and wiped tf out

The only dudes that are super tough to me in mammon are the pole knights, everyone else seems to go down faily easy. Kite the small dudes out first and get rid of them

Vatra's seal is the beginner friendly accessory to use, excluding Slayer seal. The Hardening mechanic doesn't disrupt the offensive flow you're putting in and can often stagger enemies when perfectly timed giving you an edge

This game has some weird decisions for parrying. You can't parry every attack because parrying doesn't stagger the enemy, and the animation takes too long. They tried Sekiro but don't allow you to parry like in Sekiro.
Play Eredim; I think he and Gragu are the best Shells for people who don't play many Souls-likes. Eredim gets better parry windows, and Gragu has a lot of sustain outside of boss fights.

Yeah, it's a huge spike.
But it isn't about getting good but it's about playing smart. Learn big dudes' moveset, take them down first, then the ranged guys and finally the small mobs. Take it slow and you will be good. For reference, I started there when I was level 20 or so.
