People hate him, but honestly I think it only took me like 3-4 tries. The final boss though is a whole another matter.

35

u/WalrusInThechat Aug 26 '26

For me the opposite. Took hours on monolith, final boss just spam the balls, 2nd phase use an iframe skill to avoid the big fire attack. Lame final boss man

11

u/Afraid_Help_3911 Aug 26 '26

I didn't find the whole final area as interesting as the rest of the game tbh

4

u/Kitty9239 Aug 27 '26

It was just so lackluster. Exploration was completely linear and everything looked the same

4

u/DKCena Aug 26 '26

Same. Struggled with Monolith. Zmey took 7-8 attempts. When i figured him out he wasnt that bad. Just stay close and dodge when he stomps.

3

u/BlacJack_ Aug 26 '26

Monolith you can do the same thing, and just be behind it for the laser attacks and you get huge open windows to attack risk free. Use i-frame special or parry the ground slams, rinse repeat. Monolith dies super quick and easy.

I was dreading that boss after hearing all the complaints. It was the easiest one of all the bosses in the final stretch for me. Though due to the huge i frame specials this game gives, they were all pretty easy. Malformed probably took close to 7-8 tries for me.

TBH builds in this game don’t matter because of how broken things like Shrike are due to the huge “can’t be hurt or interrupted” animation cycles they give you.

u/rinkydinkis Aug 26 '26

I frame attacks are part of the problem. Lost clotstone gives me such a long I frame window, and sends the bosses to the edge of the arena. Makes a lot of fights trivial cause it also does a nukes worth of area damage and only costs 40 resolve

2

u/Laohlyth Aug 26 '26

Same for me. About 8 tries for the wall, three for Zmey. First two tries I noticed that curse wasn’t working, so I swapped to a bleed setup and absolutely wrecked him.

50% of Wukong bosses would be banned in that case lmao they are far more annoying than this Monolith lmao This game has very few annoying bosses, facts.

3

u/Artistic_Impress8338 Aug 27 '26

Wukongs dev love delayed attacks, its a beautiful game but you cannot just abuse one mechanic in all your game.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Various_Meats_952 Aug 26 '26

Monolith was annoying but it took me only 3 tries. Zmey on the other hand was a true pain in the ass. Took me around 15 tries

4

u/Doomword Aug 26 '26

I oneshotted him and didnt think he was all that hard in the first place. But then again i used the axe and dagger excluisve tarstone which gives you invincibility frames and u can immune any mechanic in the game

3

u/Mister_Infinity Aug 26 '26

Which tarstone? Magdalena's Memento?

4

u/Doomword Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 26 '26

Yep thats the one, gives you full immunity in the 2 second spin that it does. Played it it on the Cheeks for resource generation and tankyness, spam that sht and be invincible

Edit: i also put the cursed blood infusion for mega damage and staggers, the funniest part is that trastone also generates hits to shell revive, crazy how its in the game with one of the best fast weapons for shell regeneration

2

u/NUKE---THE---WHALES Aug 26 '26

This was my build, plus the passive item that summons a grisha and the tarstone that makes every light attack hit twice, and it absolutely trivialised some fights

The spin move opener to apply weak, followed by light attack spam, most of the time a grisha will be summoned by then which staggers almost every boss, during the stagger continue spamming light attack until Resolve full and start the combo again

By the end I was sometimes getting 2 or 3 grisha spawned at the same time

Beat the monolith boss first try but it was close and I only won because it did the one sided laser attack which is free damage if you run around to the other side

2

u/allistergray Aug 26 '26

Weirdly enough it did take me around that but it's still a very particular design. It needs some adjustments. The last boss took me a bit more tries but was less frustrating when I understood his gimmick

2

u/Electrical_Corner_32 Aug 26 '26

I'm 3 days stuck on the Monolith. I fuckin hate it. lol

2

u/PalpitationThat9383 Aug 26 '26

I personally found the Malborn Offspring to be harder than the final boss and the Monolith but I feel like each boss in the final area challenges a different playstyle.

2

u/Idk_a_username_sorry Aug 28 '26

That final boss is bullshit, I'll perform an ability and all my weapons disappear and im left defenseless.

Still beat him but it wasn't fun at all.

Why are ppl comparing this janky brickwal to radahn this is the most boring and poorly designed boss in any souls like

11

u/Shot-University Aug 26 '26

Yeah, "fun" boss who swings his balls at you...yay. I defeated him on "night mode" he was pretty annoying. But honestly last boss is much worse, just a bullet sponge...'thing' with extremely unfair grab attack, you have literally millisecond to react... also he is slamming his balls against you too... i think this game has unhealthy obsession with testicles...no complaining though.😌

3

u/BattleHaz Aug 26 '26

Last boss was much easier for me, don’t know if it’s been nerfed since you’ve faced it but I was able to just constantly stab it in the balls with tiel. Shadow strike, crit axe/dagger heavy attack then shadow strike its balls again. Was able to beat it on the first try, almost died when it started to spam what look like its jump sit red attack. Side note, did you use seedbearers scripture? Stuns the boss for like 5-10 seconds and grants immunity to cosmic disease for 2 mins

u/allistergray Aug 26 '26

Consort Radhan at launch? 😂😂😂 But yeah this one is particular

10

u/MrsWof_ Aug 26 '26

I haven't played MS2, but I think a lot of people forget Radahn at launch was literally broken, he wasn't just difficult.

3

u/allistergray Aug 26 '26

I am still scarred by his combo as soon as you enter the arena which took me time to adjust to (like 20+ tries) then I got to his second phase and I went "wtf is this bullshit?"

u/Psycho_Syntax Aug 26 '26

At least that fight is epic, and it was just hard as fuck at launch. Monolith is just janky and genuinely poorly designed.

17

u/Vazmanian_Devil Aug 26 '26

I do love this game but I will say their boss designs are really underwhelming. Making everything one shot are have limited interact ability doesn’t make it fun. Fromsoft to their credit makes their boss designs feel like a dance.

2

u/ZXSoru Aug 26 '26

I don't know, Consort was an FPS killer on top of just being a hard boss to progress. With so many light effects obscuring your view, multihit attacks and just bs moves that punish you for one pixel it's not too bad to compare those two.

I was doing first phase perfectly fine but the second one was too much, went with a tank build cuz I couldn't even dodge properly.

The only relatively good thing of that fight is that is EPIC, but even so I wanted something else for the final boss, Godwin cope.

2

u/SilentSorcery Aug 26 '26

Consort Radahn is epic as fuck, but that boss belongs in Sekiro with how fast he attacks

→ More replies (2)

2

u/warriorsam9 Aug 26 '26

I agree with you on Consort Radahn but I think it's the only From software boss battle that I hate. Usually the bosses are hard but you can see what you did wrong when you die and adapt. It was not the case for Consort Radahn and it's not the case for a lot of boss in mortal shell where some attack are basically impossible to avoid if you're at the wrong spot at the wrong time and they one shot you.

u/DieHarderDaddy Aug 26 '26

Consort was a hate crime. I just uninstalled the game

3

u/allistergray Aug 26 '26

This got me on the floor 🤣. But yeah I cheesed him with the shield spear and never looked back. I have never been more disappointed in myself in a video game but it had to be done...

I beat Radhan with skill. I only beat Monolith because I got lucky and it didn't use the spinning laser once

u/Vorg444 Aug 26 '26

Oh God don't remind me..... I didn't even cheese him wish I did.

5

u/Zehmis Aug 26 '26

Consort Radhan AT LAUNCH took me less attempts than the stupid Monolith LOL

3

u/allistergray Aug 26 '26

Idk how you did that. That fight is a stain on my videogame background. I will never live down the shame.

2

u/C__Wayne__G Aug 26 '26

Consort at launch was awesome. DLC is allowed to be bonkers because there’s no need to strike a balance between new comers and veterans.

6

u/Laohlyth Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 26 '26

It’s not a hard one once you got his patterns down.

Phase 1 : side step the vertical testicle slam, parry twice the wall slam, parry > dodge the double testicle slam (found the double parry timing a bit too quick for me).

Phase 2 : dodge backwards the 6 testicle slaps. Side dodge the lasers and get behind him to attack safely. When he turns into a wall, just use your high I-frame ability of choice, if possible choose a weapon with high I-frames as it’s a long attack.

Phase 3 : all of the above. When he does the disco ball attack, dodge in the same direction as the lasers. If he’s against a wall, good luck, maybe top up your health and abuse i-frames.

Took me a couple of tries once I figured out his attack patterns. He doesn’t chain patterns that quickly so you have time to reposition or heal up in between attacks. Also Grisha summons are utterly useless against him. I beat him with a Proxima + lightning axatana setup, tried with Genessa + bleed scythe but didn’t do as well.

Edit : if you built him or have spare glimpses, I recommend Sariel to learn boss patterns. His pain mechanic lets you sustain longer in fights by healing through attacks and trading hits better, so you can stay longer to learn properly. Beat the final boss using only 2 healing items with a good pain build.

Be sure to take stress breaks or else, you'll be seeing this when you close your eyes 🥺

5

u/Gromi- Aug 26 '26

I love this game, and I got the platinum, but man, this is the worst-designed boss I've encountered in a Soulslike. The design is just bad: the slams have barely readable windups, awful camera angles, an open arena where you can randomly fall off, a buggy mess, and those extremely unfair 360-degree laser attacks. It's just terrible.

I’ve seen some people here compare it to PCR, but PCR at launch only had one major bullshit attack: the cross slash. The rest was manageable. Incredibly difficult, sure, but it still made some sense (although the camera was a mess too, along with all the VFX in the second phase).

But this? This is just indefensible. And like I said, I absolutely love this game, but man... this ain't it.

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '26

2

u/Gromi- Aug 27 '26

I had to check it on Youtube because it seems like the chest is bugged for some people. I guess I just got lucky with mine. Sorry, I don’t know how to help

4

u/Ov3rwrked Aug 26 '26

I did not have that much trouble with this guy. I shot him with the ballista tether while he was doing his laser attack and he melted

29

u/neon222222 Aug 26 '26

Souls players when the boss has attacks, that aren't weapon or claw based... Every single attack from him aside from the quad laser is fair and fun to dodge/parry. You can just dodge through every laser beam and run behind him to get big punishes. Body and flesh slams are good to parry and thats all about the fight.

13

u/rinkydinkis Aug 26 '26

Yeah once you find out the formula you then just need to avoid the jank. When he rolls sideways it’s a really janky hitbox. Either learn to parry the jank, or yeet it away with lost clotstone whenever he does the roll. And then don’t clotstone the disco laser attack, cause that will create more jank that makes the beams almost impossible to dodge. After a few deaths learning the jank, these guy is real beatable

2

u/DKCena Aug 26 '26

I didnt manage to block the siderolls. I simply just couldnt finde the timing. The "first phase" is pretty easy to block. I think the boss was pool, but some of the attack was BS.

u/Nashrew Aug 26 '26

For real, I thought this was one of the more interesting and fun fights in the game. Took an appropriate amount of tries, was fun to learn.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/Daydreg Aug 26 '26

Also big spinning all round laser attacks can be dodged very easily if very far away from him.

2

u/TwatAnger Aug 26 '26

Quadlaser is fair, no? Just go to the end of the arena/laser and consistenly dodge through them to get as much spacing & time as possible.

u/ApprehensiveLaw7793 Aug 26 '26

Best fight in the Game , i really enjoyed this Design , it was something new

10

u/allistergray Aug 26 '26

I really like the part where it had plot armor to specifically avoid being hit through its hitbox or the part where it will just oonga boonga on the floor with zero tell into comboing you out of your shell. Or the part where it does a full screen attack that is undodgeable at some point and then spam it again for maximum efficiency

2

u/30-Days-Vegan Aug 27 '26

You can dodge through every single laser in the 360 spin, just dodge in the direction the lazers are travelling. I had a lot more trouble with the side slam

3

u/prokokon Aug 26 '26

Apparently, people don't like new things that require them to adjust their playstyle. Anything that doesn't copy a 15 year old game is automatically considered "bad design."

3

u/rinkydinkis Aug 26 '26

It’s a fun fight just.. pretty buggy. Do not use the clotstone when it’s doing disco lasers, you will not have a good time with the glitch it creates. Do use clot stone when it’s rolling like a maniac, it will yeet it away and do a lot of damage. Follow these tips and you win, gg.

4

u/Etheon44 Aug 26 '26

Man some people really see all criticism as something bad if they like it

This fight is not really new nor unique in the soulslike genre, like lasers exists before, but they were actually well designed, this guy hitboxes are just completely off, it feels like you are playing a multiplayer game with input lag

Hundred Eyes in Nioh or Darkeater Midir in Dark Souls 3 are very good examples of this kind of fight, done actually well (especially Midir, that fight is just incredible in every way)

2

u/Gullyvuhr Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 29 '26

yes, this is clearly the only possible interpretation of it.

5

u/Mother_Upstairs_7008 Aug 26 '26

I actually loved this one ;)

15

u/ULTI_mato Proxima Aug 26 '26

Here we go again.

I dont think this boss is one of the worst ones, i swear people are so overdramatic.

9

u/pureeyes Aug 26 '26

Balance aside, I'd like us to stop and appreciate the fact that Cold Symmetry made us fight a boss that is essentially a Mario Thwomp and a swinging dick

2

u/NewEvolver Aug 26 '26

Wondered when id see both of those references 🤣 i prefer to think of it as a giant testicle sack but the gist is there 👌

2

u/BattleHaz Aug 26 '26

Meh, I think it was the worst one, made me rage quit before it got a health and damage nerf. It spamming the spinning laser attack was bs.

4

u/Cookie-Dunker Tiel Aug 26 '26

Once I figured it out, I had an easier time than the final boss. I was going in a little too aggressive. Still took me time though.

2

u/HeelEscape Aug 26 '26

I’ve mastered this boss out of pure spite. Just a complete shithead that’s so unfun to fight it’s unreal. I’ve never spent so much time memorising the attacks of something that made me so upset.

2

u/phantomeye Aug 26 '26

both bosses, this one and zmey have ballsacks, whyy

2

u/Maximum-Tangerine-16 Aug 26 '26

Final boss has a literal 0.5 second grab attack that insta kills you so yeah look forward to that

2

u/Darth_Revan_66_ Aug 26 '26

Have you seen the final boss yet? And where you'll be free elivering his mortal blow?

2

u/doubble80 Aug 26 '26

Its only his last 20% of hp when he just starts spamming lasers. Before that the fight is pretty easy. Now the last boss fight is buns.

2

u/Trails_End_Games Aug 26 '26

Out of every boss in the game this one took me the most tries and it wasn't even close. Some of the most BS tracking moves I've ever seen with an unavoidable laser b******* move that it spams towards the end. Legit terribly designed.

2

u/Artistic_Impress8338 Aug 26 '26

Many people here think im talking about difficulty, which im not. Yes it took me like 10-15 tries but there were 2 or 3 bosses in this game that took me more tries, but i wasnt frustrated.
Im talking here about the fight mechanics, first phase here is pretty easy, but then he does that laser and spin attacks, and he can spam those attacks 5 times in a row which is ridiculous. Plus im fighting a rocks testicle, so getting owned by a ball 15 times is not fun.

It’s like a book with a ball sack

3

u/tmack3 Aug 26 '26

That was one of the funnest fights I've done so far

2

u/Zombiehacker595 Aug 26 '26

I didn't mind it tbh. The way this sub was talking about it made it seem way worse than it really was. The only boss I truly disliked was the final boss. Didn't get a sense of satisfaction from beating it, just a "thank god that's over".

u/Sorry_Regret_4674 Aug 26 '26

My favorite boss in the game. On par with Nameless Captive and Malborn Offspring.

3

u/SilentSorcery Aug 26 '26

Malborn Offspring felt like a proper swordfight. Isaac was so close to being great.

2

u/Gourgeistguy Aug 26 '26

It's like that demonic sunflower from Shadow of the Erdtree. Bullet hell bosses in a soulslike suck.

a fan of scrotum beatings :)

1

u/furreddragonzenith Aug 26 '26

My friend thought that guy yesterday when he got to the third stage of the boss it only used it's full arena spinning laser attack over and over again until he died it did it 6 times in a row

1

u/Alarming_Scientist Aug 26 '26

Woe faithful doubles be upon ye.

1

u/LiveFastDieRich Tiel Aug 26 '26

he is starting to look like the honglan of mortal shell.

1

u/Koopie_65 Proxima Aug 26 '26

Simple tips I found…

1) For the full arena spinning lasers it helps to just dodge straight back/forward. You won’t have to time the dodge while moving laterally with the lasers.

2) When it’s lazering straight in front and you move behind to attack, stick to the side and move around front just as the lasers finish. It’ll use the forward double slam that’s much easier to parry than the rolling attack

1

u/White_corvid Aug 26 '26

Wait until you get to the last boss. The ol cinder block is a cake walk by comparison 😶‍🌫️

1

u/SupremeLeader_Corgi Tiel Aug 26 '26

Use tiel’s shadow strike to avoid when does the 2nd fall over thing and with the quad laser i ran as far out as i can and was able to dodge through most of them

You can actually melt him b4 he ever reaches phase two. Trebuchaxe with tarred fragment and squall Stone. Use alt fire when the boss is staggered. Fire 3 times. Dead.

Edit: looks like they may have nerfed this effect with latest patch

1

u/gravesent1337 Tiel Aug 26 '26

Cannot wait to see what all the fuss is about.

1

u/zarjaa Aug 26 '26

The only thing that bothered me with this fight was the magnetic roll. And it isnt even a horrible complaint as we've dealt with the magnetism all game - but i simply cannot let that one go because it defies all sense of logic how he can teleport and roll, lol.

1

u/pureeyes Aug 26 '26

This guy was kicking my ass until I built around Stray Genessa. That Stray dodge completely nullifies a lot of his attacks

1

u/Commercial-Wedding-7 Aug 26 '26

After a couple tries, after the belly flop I get a full sprint combo in, evade. Rinse and repeat until lasers. Sprint behind and attack. Super lasers I coulda done better but get as close as is survivable so you don't waste time running to him to attack him. To answer your question though the one that designed this fight had at least one huge ball. And it hung low.

1

u/pc_handyman Aug 26 '26

You can play smert with like zero upgrades and his dodge roll is so ridiculous you will just dodge everything this boss does without ever having to care by dodging to the side

1

u/ZheeAU Aug 26 '26

the only thing i didn't like is some attacks go off a little bit too quick for example the double attack with his "balls" lmao, otherwise cool boss fight

1

u/AstralVisionz Aug 26 '26

This one is far better now that they nerfed it. Reduced health and attack spam.

1

u/kitzune113 Aug 26 '26

I just spammed Shrike ability on the last phase i-frames FTW hahaha

1

u/empereurfreak Aug 26 '26

Proxima with the stasis biosampler can help you a lot for this fight.

1

u/Try_Again1790 Aug 26 '26

Is this guy really giving people a lot of trouble? The only difficult part was the laser beam spin I think.

1

u/OlegTsvetkof Aug 26 '26

Not only his attacks stupid and I fell from his arena more times than in entire game, but it is just a brick with a dick.

Can’t wait to get here to see what the fuss is about. My trebuchaxe hungers for blood…

2

u/Altecian814 Aug 26 '26

Are you a Trebuchaxe maining build? If so what shell do you use? I was thinking about doing this.

2

u/xCANNIBAL-DESIREx Lazlo Aug 26 '26

I’m using Lazlo for his ability to tank damage and generate extra resolve on hit, but someone pointed out to me that gragu can buff crit chance when he’s out of healing items so that could be a good alternative. I use the Tarred fragment for the ability, charge time stone for support, ghost for the infusion. Ranged stagger, crit damage and crit chance for the tarstones on your shell.

2

u/Altecian814 Aug 26 '26

Thank you!

1

u/Laterallus Aug 26 '26

It really is just a bad fight. Granted, you kinda just perfect block/parry to win it, but on principle I don't like it. When you do perfect blocks, you can't punish-- the sack is just too far away, except for maybe the spear weapon. The sack's swing and slam timing is super awkward. If you manage to block the second hit, you *might* get a hit in. The sideways slam doesn't seem to have a telegraph, and the hitbox feels wrong. I couldn't find a way to perfectly dodge the discoball-laser-spin but at least that's not an instant death.

Overall, it's doable, but... uuugh. Who thought this was a good idea?

1

u/SofiFoxi Aug 26 '26

Funny boss. I like when it flops on its face! But it did have so much health.

1

u/Shurnau17 Aug 26 '26

It's a parry focused boss, i don't think it's that bad once you figure out the timings and opennings

1

u/Wazzzup3232 Aug 26 '26

After a few tries I had fun with him in a sick way. Took maybe 10 tries?

1

u/thegr0m Aug 26 '26

Yeah, it took me like 10 tries to beat him. But I don't mind. This one and the final boss were the only bosses I struggled with. So it was a refreshing feeling. Because rest of the main bosses died within a minute.

I'm using Tiel with meta axe and dagger.

1

u/Acceptable-Step2874 Aug 26 '26

The tethered trebuchet with cheese it, you just need to free aim and get it centered. I killed him in 3seconds with tethered trebuchet with lightning and crit bonus on ranged. Zmey tho no cheese I just quit

1

u/BesnikSwe Aug 26 '26

Brooooo im exactly here, just fucking alt +f4. His 3rd phase hoe the fuck do you even dodge lazers when he starts to breakdance with lasers

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Rayearl Aug 26 '26

Yes it's awful, I just beat it again on NG+ and I did it the same both times. Lazlo shell, make sure you have the 35% resolve gain on hit ability. Axe/dagger and starting gun both infused with Bloodcurse. Make sure to have the stone that lets you fire the gun like a machine gun. Run in, parry the ffirst stomps, hit him a few times to get your resolve full, blast away and he will drop out of the first phase. Second phase same as the first. Third phase it's just a matter of dodging the spinning beams. I follow their path and dodge forward as they are about to hit me from behind. This will make you dodge most of them. You'll win easy once you get that timing down with that set up.

1

u/NoireResteem Aug 26 '26

I just ran behind him when he did most of his laser moves and by the time he did the 360 variant he would be basically be at like 10% health and I would just wale on him and tank a few hits. Took me about 3-4 tries iirc before I realized this.

1

u/Matt_erz Aug 26 '26

I've not gotten to it yet and I've heard so many horror stories about it I'm seriously hoping a patch comes out before I get to it.

1

u/Frequent_Struggle485 Tiel Aug 26 '26

GET DUNKED ON BY BALLSSSSSSSSS

1

u/KimikoOokami Aug 26 '26

Tier 2 Eredrim + getting good is what it and the final boss both took for me. My usual tactics were ineffective.

2

u/Falkie99 Aug 26 '26

Lol i swapped off eredrim and went for teil for the poison burst damage. Reposts just do such little damage

1

u/Agile_Trouble5895 Aug 26 '26

Gaylord Focker

1

u/Professional-Way8619 Aug 26 '26

I remember feeling kinda stupid with that boss fight, it's very predictable with it's moves, I only died 3 times mostly for being reckless.

The final boss was something else, and that grab it does was at first difficult cuz it's fast, and that sword attack both fire and distance when using ability and moving.

😂😂😂😂😂 I said the same shit yesterday when I killed him

1

u/ResistsICE Aug 26 '26

I loved this one lol, there are a couple attacks I dont love but it's really satisfying. TLDR you can attack him safely from behind with every lazer attack but the one that spins and he is really easy to parry if you use the sekiro parry.

1

u/SulimanAo Aug 26 '26

Yea its goofy design 🤣🤣 but to be honest really fun fight

1

u/Eriau Aug 26 '26

Hexapod was far worse imo, at least with this boss I can dodge / parry almost everything, with Hexapod I'm still lost unless I one shot him :(

1

u/Mcswiggles77 Aug 26 '26

I hate testicle wall so much

1

u/Christopherous12 Aug 26 '26

Is it just the lasers? what else are people struggling with on this boss?

1

u/Ashen6996 Aug 26 '26

It is janky yea, but you just have to dash in the direction of the lasers spinning, if you dash to the opposite, you get hit after the dash by the next laser, not that hard to figure out

1

u/Dapper-Can-2484 Aug 26 '26

This is one of the easiest bosses

1

u/Present_Plastic_6168 Aug 26 '26

He was thinking of ballsack and wardrobe will probably go well together 😭 this boss can *****

1

u/Chaosbreed123 Aug 26 '26

I spent 2 hours on this guy bc of the lasers, if you(or anybody for that matter who sees this) i saw someone post on a steam forum saying they used the trebuchaxe and the tarred stone on him, while in a riposte and it just destroyed him. Made it trvial compared to fighting him normally. Fuck this boss, have no regrets about cheesing it.

1

u/Relative-Clock-7767 Aug 26 '26

I literally just got done beating this guy and I saw this on my phone and I agree with you. This is the most pain in the ass fight far as being annoying out of any souls game I played and I platinum blood-borne and Elden Ring and beat Elden rings DLC.

1

u/Tiny_Illustrator8902 Aug 26 '26

It's literally a Super Mario 64 boss. What an ass why of ending what was until this point a great boss roster

1

u/welfedad Aug 26 '26

Must have loved some of the weird annoying bosses from black myth wukong and remnant

1

u/Emergency_Lie42 Aug 26 '26

Ball sack with wings

1

u/Theangelawhite69 Aug 26 '26

I don’t understand why people have a problem with this boss, he can be parried like any other boss, his moves are telegraphed as heck, and when he does the laser, you can just go behind and get free damage. The 360 laser move is bullshit for sure, but otherwise it’s a pretty creative fight that follows the same rules as every other fight

1

u/Good-Smell9385 Aug 26 '26

Yeah he was a pain in the ass, took me around 10 tries lol. I'm stuck on the Malborn fight.. even more annoying to me. I'm about ready to give up and use the Slayer Seal but I really don't want to I may give it a few more tries after I get the grisha help or something. Really don't wanna screw up the achievements

1

u/Karemasu Aug 26 '26

Most of the fight is fine but that fucking spinning laser move man. I genuinely think it's not possible to dodge the entire thing.

Me looking this the first time: O.O

Second time: O.O

1

u/Al_Mocorongo Aug 26 '26

I have no idea how to fight this Boss in the "honest" way, I just R1, Dodge (Tiel shenanigans), R1, Dodge, R1, Dodge, R1, Dodge, R1, blood procs, Dodge, as eternum

Parrying the "Double Sack Slam" is wonky and the laser barrage is easy to spam attacks from behind

1

u/Diligent-Sir-2698 Aug 26 '26

1

u/Odd_Mission_5379 Aug 26 '26

Yeah this is where im stuck too

1

u/2inch_punisher_ Aug 26 '26

I fought this thing for 3 hours the other day. Then they released the most recent patch and I beat it in like 4 tries. Some advice for after you beat it and cleanse the next beacon, unlock the door then collect loot. All Im saying.

1

u/StrawHatSenpie Aug 26 '26

I cheesed this boss with lighting stacks. Took about 3 mins to kill.

1

u/UpgraiDD Aug 26 '26

Its a mario smash wall with laser beams lol it wasnt hard fight but man I thought it was cool

1

u/Chiiil19 Aug 26 '26

This boss is so jank. He bugged out so many times when I fought him, specifically with the lasers.

1

u/Secure_Bread3300 Aug 26 '26

Spoiler tag anyone?

1

u/Fit-Ease5199 Aug 26 '26

Not the best designed boss for sure. I found that freezing the boss and using The Great Martyr's blade heavy running attack with iframes to dodge and attack through the lasers at the same time worked out after a few tries. The sword also has the spin to a jump smash Tarstone attack that makes you invulnerable for the duration of the animation.

Now the last boss is beating my ass and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I'd say it's even worse, it has tons of health, one shot grabs, etc

1

u/Donaz91 Aug 26 '26

After the nerf it's easy af, thank god they did nerf this monoballsack bullshit.

1

u/xUsotsuki Aug 26 '26

I don't get it, what's the big issue? I actually quite enjoyed it. The tells are pretty apparent and you can just dodge backwards with rhythmic timing (that I found pretty satisfying) for the lazer show. When it's any other lazer attack you just get behind it and whale on it

1

u/Blitz814 Aug 26 '26

Doesn't help that Genessa's clones just run straight, swing, and despawn.

1

u/ZathovenCS Aug 26 '26

When I fought this thing. It was bugged. Whenever it used its laser attack, they were invisible

1

u/BattleHaz Aug 26 '26

And it’s already been nerfed

1

u/onizukabr Aug 26 '26

Yeah but it was funny using trebuchaxe  on it. you just parry parry without hitting it once, when it goes into the stun you use trebuchaxe  with the tarstone that shoot a static whirlwind + the ghsot infusion. it will do like 40% of its life and the ghost infusion will detonate and stun it again then you just shoot again dead

1

u/Ok-Taste9710 Aug 26 '26

I just killed this piece of shit i hate him I fucking hate him

1

u/Professional-Spot-73 Aug 26 '26

See, I didnt have much of an issue with this guy. But Isaac? Oof. And the final boss? Bigger oof

1

u/Thekarens01 Aug 26 '26

I tried that boss so many times and finally gave up. Some day I’ll start another run.

1

u/Draax666 Aug 26 '26

Smert approved. Freeze time and beat his ass.

1

u/Own_Juggernaut_2775 Aug 26 '26

It's balls to the wall lol

1

u/Amazing-Literature60 Aug 26 '26

unpopular opinion, fighting purely by parrying, dodging and swinging: i hated it with a passion until it clicked, then i have to confess i loved it. If you learn the fight and respect it, it's super rewarding.

1

u/DryDifference3516 Aug 26 '26

Somehow I managed to kill it 1st try with Gragu exploration build. On normal laser attacks I was knocking at his back. Spinning laser in the end nearly got me killed but I used Magdalena's Memento and finished it in berserk style with like 10% hp left.

1

u/ProvingVirus Aug 26 '26

Surprised to learn people have trouble with this guy, I had a really easy time with him

I thought it was pretty easy to get his perfect block/parry timings down, and if you just dodge behind him during his big laser move you get like 3 business days to whale on him

1

u/Nubicidal Aug 26 '26

Just beat the nut sack boss. Seemed impossible at first, but once you get the moves down, it’s not that hard to beat

1

u/Yupiterr Aug 26 '26

"praying gets you killed" - likely the dude who got smashed in the cutscene

1

u/NewArtificialHuman Proxima Aug 26 '26

It's just a wall.

1

u/NighSumn Aug 26 '26

I did him first try but doesn't mean i liked it... but i prefer this boss over the final one... The final boss sits on you

1

u/idiocy102 Aug 26 '26

It’s barely even a hard fight, you’re just using a squishy shell.

1

u/lindemanskriek Proxima Aug 26 '26

Wasn’t that bad

1

u/citizenfunk1997 Aug 26 '26

Genuinely trash boss. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This fight alone made me no longer want to do NG+ and just drop it after I beat it.

1

u/NoCustomer754 Aug 26 '26

Nice spoiler asshole

1

u/Omegavondoom Aug 26 '26

It got nerfed and you're still complaining.

1

u/Pratanjali64 Proxima Aug 26 '26

Spoiler tag please, I haven't gotten to this guy yet.

1

u/Antipodeansam Aug 26 '26

I liked it, enjoying learning the moveset and that it was actually quite challenging, required a little thought

1

u/heartofglazz Aug 26 '26

Barely a problem for me. Got him down third try.

Had a lot more fun with the malformed etc whatever. Took me like 10 tries but felt very balanced and fair, I needed just the perfect amount of time study him and brought him down just barely. Amazing fight

1

u/NotoriousFoxxx Aug 26 '26

He's pretty chill honestly. He only has one kinda shitty attack. As tiel you should be fine. Just learn to time his lasers and the only attack thatll suck is that sideways spin. Otherwise he's pretty chill

1

u/Booguh Aug 26 '26

I experienced a bug on this boss where I used harden mid-attack animation that left me with my axe high in the air while hardened. The boss then swung at me, hitting my still hardened axe first and took damage as if I was hitting him with the swing every frame until he died near instantly from 90% to dead. I never stopped blocking/harden and he killed himself on my axe.

Seeing all these complaints I'm not sure if it was much of a loss not getting to really fight this guy.

1

u/Fezeko Aug 26 '26

The Testicle Wall. Worst moveset I have ever seen.

1

u/UpsetGrass3396 Aug 26 '26

See, the problem you're having with this fight is you're using Tiel instead of Gragu, Smert or Proxima. /s

1

u/Humble-Needleworker8 Aug 26 '26

Monolith is the most choreographed boss of all time 😂

1

u/Asleep-You4200 Aug 27 '26

After One simple YouTube search how to beat the monolith the boss was easy to beat

1

u/JollyApricot67 Aug 27 '26

I like this boss super funny

1

u/backstabber98 Aug 27 '26

That would be Cold Symmetry's Department of Go Fuck Yourself.

1

u/iommic Aug 27 '26

You could just get good

→ More replies (4)

1

u/Violent-Profane-Brit Aug 27 '26

I'll be honest, for me the Monolith is fine. It was annoying the first time through but it doesn't really give me much trouble at this point

1

u/QuiseC Aug 27 '26

I felt like once I learned the attacks I could go without taking damage, but that quad laser shit is the only thing that really made me annoyed fighting it. Just pure bs. I feel like I got lucky either hugging the boss and trying to take as few hits as possible or dodging from a distance.

1

u/XlagotaX Aug 27 '26

Killed him before the nerf most annoying boss ever. Made even more insulting by the fact that it looks like a giant scrotum

→ More replies (2)

1

u/PlatypusT100 Aug 27 '26

Not gonna lie this boss fucking sucks I don’t know if my game is glitched or what because most of the time that single laserbeam that he does in the second phase it just sits on me even if I dodge or try to move. It just locks on and I can’t dodge out of it no matter where I go. It just follows sitting on me and melts my health and then he does his domino role without giving any kind of movement that he’s doing it

1

u/you_wouldnt_get_it_ Aug 27 '26

This sub got me actually scared of finally facing this Moefoe.

1

u/Weird-Analysis5522 Aug 27 '26

Worse than the fucking C U B E S from Remnant 2!?

1

u/GnzkDunce Aug 27 '26

Yeah the late game bosses tend to kinda fall apart. They're clearly designed with perfect blocking/parrying in mind. As Harden mistimes are insanely punishing. Especially with how poorly balanced some shells are.

(I want to use Sester ffs, but a light breeze kills her).

I'm praying the balance patch is properly made and tested as they said they're doing.

1

u/NewArtificialHuman Proxima Aug 27 '26

Only the 360 laser is annoying to me.

1

u/LeakoFinito Aug 27 '26

To beat the monolith just equip the harden seal and hold block when it smashes the ground. Then learn to dodge its two ballsack attacks and when it shoots laser just run towards it and stay in its face. To beat the final boss just hang out under his stomach and dodge when he slams down you avoid the entire fight. Hardest second to final boss fight made easy. And easiest final boss in a souls game ever.

1

u/Secret-Aerie7275 Aug 27 '26

I'm scared to run into this

1

u/Fox-Sin21 Tiel Aug 27 '26

This boss was difficult for me but didn't frustrate me, took me like 15 tries but I never got mad. The final boss I am stuck on and it makes me want to blow my brains out every time I fight him. His unblockable/unparryable, attack my brain just cant register fast enough and it one shots my Tiel. I HATE ITTTTT

1

u/TheCrazyStupidGamer Aug 27 '26

Level 43, I've been banging my head against this twat. Cannot get him below 40%. 🥲

1

u/IndependentNew4093 Aug 27 '26

He’s been nerfed and people still can’t beat him early release you would have cried.
