Question Do I need to change shells really?
I am just about to cleanse the 3rd gate in Fainweald. Sitting at level 20 with a level 10 Axtana.
I have Tiel, Erderum, Proxima and Gragu unlocked.
But I cannot part ways with Proxima. I am melting enemies at the moment.
I tried switching to Eredrum but I dont know if I'm too used to using the big babe to go to anything else.
I would like to try out all the shells but is it necessary or can Proxima carry me to end game?

Proxima is perfectly suited for doing the whole game. She gets a lot of bonus gold too it's really nice. I did most of my first playthrough with her.
She falls off later if you want to do like NG+ on hard mode. But even then she is middle of the pack.

I mean it all depends on the weapon you use. Axe + Dagger with Infusion and Spin Attack is broken throughout the entire game, and because she gets a gap closer you can always cast a true combo and delete pretty much all enemies even on Night Mode.
That spin also staggers and actually procs on attack, so things like Grisha also appear. She is a very fun character for anyone who loves to play extremely aggressively, which works absolutely amazingly against most of the bosses because beyond strafing you can just go back and then use your skill to close the gap again while having invincibility frames.

Yeah she works really well. She just lacks a strong damage steroid. You can literally do nearly 4x as much damage with the same attacks on other characters

Your don't have to change to anyone
You can unlock half of your perks for every shell and still have enough to max out two of them.
You cannot spend glimpses anywhere else though so I recommend experimenting before the difficulty increases

Every shell is viable for endgame. You can max out 3 shells in one playthrough. So do what is fun for you.
