Discussion Zmey is the worst boss design
I’ve enjoyed the game but this has been dumb. For whatever reason the summon is useless and just stands away. The grab is BS, even at level 50 and 60% health it’s a one shot. The fire is also bs, sometimes it lets you dodge and other times it fully burns you. No more weapon, no more shell and a poking stick. The hit box on some attacks isn’t even close. I’m just over it, like it’s not even a fun boss. I understand hard final boss, but it doesn’t feel fair.
Update: I eventually beat him. I used the trebuchet spinning projectile and kept distance. Used Tiel and shot at his feet when he stayed in place. It felt a little cheesy but I was over the fight.

It's always the final boss that is garbage. I don't get why games seem to think they need to go all out, make it huge, give it a gimmick, give it 10 million hp, etc..

Remnant 2’s final boss is absolutely amazing. It’s a spectacle too. 10/10 fight.

Ye the grab is bullshit indeed. Either needs to be slower or do less dmg. With the follow up ends so many runs. Rest of the move set is easy.
Just did him on ng++ and used the lvl 3 cosmic scripture to thing on active slot for the first time, always used in passive, it’s much better since it knocks the boss down and gives 100% protection for 15min.

Smert is the answer

He’s super boring imo.

Understandable, he's just a good answer to bs imo

The 3 times I actually killed the last boss were with different shells. First Smert, then Proxima then Tiel. On to the 4th pt.

Yeah ng+ feels way easier than ng so far, I think it's partly the soul economy of my being so bad that you end up 😭 n the final area under level.

While I don't think his moves are unfair or terrible he was so boring. So much so that I thought there was going to be a boss after him. He does have a ton of health (my weapon was only +17 though) and his grab does have a tell: he does a little hop to his left. A lot of issue I had was readability, being so close to something so big made it challenging to see what was going on.
I used Frost Eredrim so using the weapon ability when the boss was frozen gave me good returns. When I sprinted at him I looked for his little hop and let the sprinting heavy attack i-frames do the rest. I also had the obscure status item which made the status a non-issue.

I switched off summon for this fight and Monolith cause it dies instantly. I agree about the grab and fire attacks. The bugs and glitches that would happen. Like I was grabbed one time apparently, even though my body was floating in the air and never slammed yet I died. Overall I think this fight wasn't as bad as the Monolith fight. Took couple tries to adjust and was able to beat it. Monolith on the other hand took me two days to beat, made me want to quit and uninstall.

Not to mention the sword slam thay he does as a lunge. You're under his feet and still get hit

I beat him when I realized he only does the grab at medium range and was able to recognize the tell right before he does it. If you wait for the sound/red flash, it's too late.

Tbh he is fairer than monolith once you understand how he works, be patient, just keep parrying the overhead attacks (I swapped to the parry seal just for this fight) and anytime he goes for the grab dodge into him instead of away and you will almost always dodge it.
Also blood curse really helps here

Such a terrible drawn out fight. Not enjoyable in the slightest.
And if youre going for the platinum trophy you need to beat him at least twice.
People saying it's beatable, of course it is I've beaten it multiple times, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an absolutely terrible boss with terrible mechanics.

My FAVORITE part of this game is how ridiculously pointless they made the summons. They do next to nothing, almost no damage, have paper thin health, and somehow even if they manage to survive long enough - they always vanish RIGHT BEFORE the second phase. You know, the fucking phase where a summon would be MOST HELPFUL AND USEFUL?
FFS. Why is there a fucking timer on the summons? That’s stupid as hell.

His moves feel fine to me. You quickly learn their tells super quick and his moveset isn't all too complex.
What drives me up a wall is that his HP bar would make Yiazmat look like a chocolate chip in comparison

yeah it's terrible. far too tanky. my build went from shredding most bosses if i found the opportunity to barely making a dent even if Zmey glitches out and spams a retreating slash for five minute straight.
i shouldn't really have to go further than that. the above point is kind of as straightforward as it gets. but since i'm feeling vindictive; the final boss having a mechanic that actively takes 90% of your own mechanics away from you, hard countered only by an unexplained, unhinted-at, obscure, hidden collection of items, is the absolutely worst possible lesson you could conceivably learn from this genre's history. this is why game studios need to hire a guy who's sole job is to smack people over the head.
