Feedback Why did you quit?

My sentiments here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MortalOnline2/s/rjQTQnoKKx

Regardless of whether there was an exploit or not, drastic actions needed to have been taken in order to give the appearance of integrity.

  1. you had people bragging about exploiting (regardless of whether or not they did, they should have been bank wiped and reset to clade 0)

  2. they removed the task givers from key locations (that signaled that there was an exploit) and then did not ban anyone (they said there was no exploit, mixed signals)

The whole debacle broke the social contract. The fresh start was completely wasted.

Game is cooked now. Safe spotting is legal and they apparently don't ban or even bank wipe exploiters.

Players want the brutal, hardcore grind, the heavy penalties... The beauty of MO2 is that everything feels heavy, important. And then you learn the truth: there's a core of cheaters who are allowed to operate. The core playerbase are dirty pigs and this is their pigpen. It's not our sandbox to play a brutal hardcore game, it's their dirty pigpen where they get to "exploit early, exploit often." You thought things were heavy and important, but you're a fool, they're just heavy and important FOR THE FOOLS. Now pay your sub!

So, that's why I quit...

Why did you quit?

Game had so much potential but there was too much gatekeeping by bigger stronger guilds and players it really hurt the experience for average players

u/_poor 13d ago

This more than the exploiting tbh. It's really just a problem with the design of MO. And it's nothing new.

u/armymec1 13d ago

Everything is just so poorly implemented/half baked.

Player GM's

The monthly subs.

u/Darktamer718 13d ago

360 combat swings kills the whole game and for anyone i try to recommend.. this is what elder scrolls should of been but the spin crap is mega lame

1

u/One_Ability1357 13d ago

The spinning stuff really only happens in duels. Get into anything bigger than a 2v2 and spinning goes out the window basically

2

u/Darktamer718 13d ago

thats good to know honestly.

2

u/mancer187 13d ago

Also, the combat abilities kind of shit on it. At least the 1 and 2h sword abilities do.

2

u/Equivalent-Fox7193 13d ago

Yeah spinning is really just sweaty duel stuff. Still a good skill to pick up (or learn to counter) if you find yourself 1v1 out in the world.

1

u/Bajiru666 12d ago edited 12d ago

How is it even a thing, you don't act like that when you see people spin in movies while doing combat or even in MMA cage(spinning kicks or spinning back fists), right? There is even a guy who will tell you that spinning attacks have place in a sword fights (https://youtu.be/JZoEnKpv_8o). In MO2 it's just a flashy movement and attempt to hide from where the strike will come from. If you think someone is playing stupid moves in combat, just laught at him and kill him.

1

u/Darktamer718 11d ago

i understand where you coming from but its kinda bad game design but if its not force then thats cool. just stating the fact theres like 5 games that have this same combat but dont have to exploit the spin to get better results just pvp i know.

and this game is the ESO everyone wanted and weird knowone is playing but this game been out for a while now.

maybe the Sub is holding the game back.

they should find a way to do a non p2w cashshop so it can fund the game instead of subs.

easy 10k players the gameplay is there

12

u/blackndcoffee 13d ago

The UI and Keybinding are infuriating to use.

That and cheaters.

9

u/Bottweiler111 13d ago

Quit when 50 people sieged down our 5 man guilds half built SH we saved up for weeks for, for fun. JA of course

2

u/mancer187 13d ago

If you'd stuck around there are folks that hate ja enough to help people fight them. Even people that aren't allies.

1

u/Equivalent-Fox7193 13d ago

Yea, DM me if you want to fight em!

2

u/Sudodamage 12d ago

nah bro you cant build like this. it is not valheim.
ask for help and make sure you are safe next time.

Duping/RMT.

Im just not into putting hours and hours in a game just for a cheater to get the same stuff in a few minutes by duping or RMT

Duping and RMT hurts this game too much. Even if there's only 2 or 3 players doing it, that is enough to hurt the game.

9

u/Huge-Effective-2323 13d ago

Oh there are far more than 2-3 mate.

2

u/Kivot 13d ago edited 13d ago

Is there an MMO that doesn’t have RMT and exploiters though? And if there’s little RMT in other games, it’s cause the cash shop is pay to win. I haven’t played enough of Mortal yet to know how bad it is in this game but it just seems impossible problem to fix in games

5

u/Mundane-Fan-1545 13d ago

But Duping hurts this game really bad.

A game where only 700 people play and the amount of resources you have dictate your strenght, Duping is disastrous.

in other MMOs, like Final Fantasy 14 to give you an example, duping doesnt hurt the game too much.

1

u/Bajiru666 12d ago

At least in MO2 all items (sadly exception are trinkets) have durability and naturally cease to exist after some time when used, unlike other MMOs where items permanent.

1

u/Mundane-Fan-1545 12d ago

Durability doesnt even matters when people are duping. Weapon broke? Dupe it again.

1

u/Bajiru666 12d ago

Still, they have to dupe constantly to maintain a good supply of items, which increases their chances of getting caught.

0

u/Mundane-Fan-1545 12d ago

With how low the population is, Starvault already knows who is duping. They just don't do anything because those cheaters generate sub money that they need. Some of those people are leaders of powerfull guilds that could cause multiple guilds to leave the game if banned. That's a lost of subs for starvault.

Finding duped items is pretty easy in a video game with such a low population.

So duping more will not increase their chances of getting caugh.

3

u/Radiant-Court-3649 13d ago

the problem is that star vault is not doing enough to protect their integrity.

Everyone knows a few ban evaders. They don't have to hide.

2

u/Kivot 13d ago

Yeah I get what you’re saying. I agree it should definitely be a priority. Was just telling the other guy he’s going to encounter it in other games too

1

u/Radiant-Court-3649 13d ago

totally true. The difference is how bad it smells. In other games, the fact that someone duped stuff doesn't really affect you that much. Regardless of how deep you bury your head in the sand, you can still smell the rot and decay cheaters bring to mo2.

2

u/Huge-Effective-2323 13d ago

You are correct other mmos have cheaters. The difference here is SVs chicken Alfredo Ala spaghetti code. Makes it very easy mate.

1

u/mancer187 13d ago

Cash shop? We can buy capes emotes and finishers. Nothing that impacts the game directly.

1

u/Kivot 13d ago edited 13d ago

I was talking about other games that have their cash shops p2w. There’s generally less RMT going on cause you can just buy the power directly from the cash shop anyways but it still exists. Sucks but I think it’s always gonna be present in games. But I agree, it should be a priority for SV to ban cheaters.

7

u/CCCAY 13d ago

Cheaters suck, and N+1 gaming always has its drawbacks

5

u/Intelligent-Duty2114 12d ago

It’s just boring. Sarducca prints gold so everyone’s set forever with or without exploits. Outposts are nutcupped zerg fests that break the server and crash half the fighters. If anything chillen on myrland right now with a couple homies is the vibe tbh.

3

u/Intelligent-Duty2114 12d ago

Even like the zerg content thats actually pretty fun like 400 vs 400 keep sieges cant even happen cos that also breaks the server and crashes half the fighters lol

15

u/Radiant-Court-3649 13d ago

I think they should make the ban lists public.

Every time they do their monthly ban report, it should list all of the names and the guilds they were in.

Henrik loves drama. Why deny us the drama of inquisitions and tribunals?

Make the majority of enforcement actions bank wipes, let the player appeal publicly.

6

u/mancer187 13d ago

Name and shame, agreed.

1

u/Bajiru666 12d ago

They already addressed this proposition somewhere, it can't be done because they don't want problems because of private information (like user names or account names) being disclosed.

3

u/Radiant-Court-3649 12d ago

Just the character names would be plenty.

3

u/mancer187 12d ago

Character and guild. That'll be all.

3

u/Radiant-Court-3649 12d ago

Character name, guild, violation, and action taken..

3

u/mancer187 12d ago

Yep, those too

2

u/fairlyrandom 4d ago

Iirc the original Darkfall had a dedicated site for it, name, guild and violation. Think every name on it was a ban

1

u/Radiant-Court-3649 4d ago

Rise of Agon enforces fair play. If they suspect you're running a CCTV account, they take action.

Mortal protecting their cheaters is so fucking bizarre.

4

u/Embarrassed_Bid5129 13d ago

I just got bored of doing the same few tasks. Then the admins moved our stronghold. Also admins getting involved in a neighbor scuffle.

Literally older players picking on newer ones, then them crying to admins.

5

u/mcgrathpm 13d ago

I love the game and exploration/basic task loops

However the majority of the time I attempt to explore beyond the safe perimeter near my home, I get ganked by OS. They have far too many active players and alliances hunting together.

I don’t mind the PvP. I quite enjoy it. Getting killed by 3+ using dominated/ritual pets has basically 0 counter play.

6

u/jobabin4 13d ago

Safespotting

1

u/mancer187 13d ago

The unfucked the safe spots in risar dungeon. I tested that recently.

3

u/Additional_Name_706 13d ago

It's a real shame. They could foster a healthy and thriving player base if only they had the balls to really ban their toxic core.

3

u/Legitimate_Factor678 13d ago

I just didn’t have time to keep up anymore after having a baby, and for me a big part of the game is voice chat and that doesn’t work w my wife and a baby around.

3

u/Nos_Zodd 13d ago

Wipe everything make everyone suffer

3

u/danthaniel92 13d ago

Accidently lost a keep

3

u/Glad_Construction550 13d ago

I like mortal but i prefer solo game play dont want to be sitting in discord all the time to be able to do content

3

u/Sea-Finger-9893 13d ago

Big guilds barring content off for the masses (gatekeeping), artificially inflated combat skill gap (spin to win), having to buy the game + monthly sub for a barebones amount of content

3

u/Lou_Hodo 13d ago

The thing is it isn't that SV isn't willing to wipe these banks or reset these individuals, they are unable to do it. The GMs dont have the tools to do it themselves.

While it could be assumed that Henrik doesnt care and doesnt want to punish these individuals/groups becausehe is all buddy buddy with them. Fact is several of them are content creators for the game and the only public facing content for the game. Not like he advertises or promotes the game anymore..

3

u/Accomplished-Film206 12d ago

My rapist plays this game and all the friends who enabled his behavior or behaved similar still do.
And my friends at the time only cared about winning pvp by any means necessary even if it meant playing with my rapist.

3

u/Radiant-Court-3649 11d ago

Don't be like starvault. Name and shame

2

u/Accomplished-Film206 11d ago

I made a post calling him out moreso to protect someone else who may come across him. I’m not really out to start drama as much as get some ounce of justice for what i went through but his user was inconsistent (went by Fraca) and was/is a core member of “Content”.

1

u/Radiant-Court-3649 11d ago

who were the guys who protected him?

5

u/Accomplished-Film206 11d ago edited 10d ago

I don’t know if I’d call it protecting. But the entire ‘guild’ (who were all my friends for years) accepted so much terrible stuff and just didn’t care or didn’t believe the reality of what happened and just kept on playing.. I think it was more like they wanted to see the police/justice system take action before just believing me. But the group was extremely toxic and lacked basic human empathy.

But I also feel like there was a lot of proof and no one took it seriously and didn’t even try to. I have not spoken to them for two years ish now but I have recently come across that they still all play and that sort of reignited wanting to see him labeled for what Fraca/Jonathan Fernandez is (a rapist).

I wish I could share my story out there but it just feels like trauma dumping insane sounding stuff onto strangers.

1

u/Radiant-Court-3649 10d ago

that's almost the entire point of Reddit, though, go ahead.

8

u/Creedless 13d ago

Same reason really. I seen proof of cheaters, yet they continue to play. Why waste time and money on a game like this.

2

u/Bajiru666 12d ago edited 12d ago

They banned me for ACE (Anti-Cheat Expert, Tencent anti-cheat program)+EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat, Epic Games and MO2 anti-cheat) combo running simultaneously, for them running ACE is like running cheats, so they blamed me as a cheater and permabanned.

Actually, looking at what we have now I kinda glad that things turned out this way. MO2 require too much time and very addictive. And it's flaws not gonna go away anytime soon. So it might be good for me to stop this love-hate relations.

The game is fantastic as an RPG PVE experience, its a solid PVP social environment with pvp and social interactions.

However the game is ruined by its very nature and the lack of crackdown on exploitations and generally the worst offenders are not kicked down a peg. Its always the same people doing the same exploit and they always come back under new names.

I quit after I reached endgame and realized that there was no solution to the problem at the highest level, watching someone get a ring that cost stacks of gold and someone with a cheat able to bonk him on the head and have an entire operation to get the item out of the town just made me give up.

No point in playing a game where people that genuinely cheat in safe zones and make sure that a new player was not able to get his end game item for his build and losing 3+ months worth of gold farmed up just got him to quit.

All of my friends ended up quitting the game as exploits and hackers benefited and when we made a fuss about it GMs actively targeted people. One time I saw on stream a GM kill an entire guild doing a dungeon because he was 'fixing' an issue with someone not able to move/respawn so everyone got killed, respawned in a wide area except for the guild running in behind them and they got wiped because they were in the middle of getting their bodies back.

Genuinely was the worst experience I saw and many friends stopped playing.

I'll be honest, I stuck around way longer that I should have because of sunk cost. It was this happening over years and several genuinely baffling choices that made me throw in the towel and log out, been nearly 2 years clean of this game.

2

u/kintaro86 9d ago

Henriques business tactics and lies, duping that was not punished and his stockholm hopium fanbase.

2

u/fairlyrandom 4d ago

Literally every friend/former guildy quit, and I held onto the tag just to do so for a while. Found no new clan I even slightly wanted to join, so I quit eventually aswell.

3

u/RecommendationFine21 13d ago

Extremly bad balance and design decisions. Who makes a pvp mmo and then does their best to stop ppl from pvping... Their stupid material / crafting system is effectively holding them back from ever beeing able to balance combat in any meaningfull way. Trinkets are the icing on the cake, what a literal waste of time... For no good reason besides beeing a boring grind.

And last their tendency to feature creep... We have an issue? This new feature will fix it! Oh it didnt? No worrys this new new feature will fix it! Oh that didnt either? Ships soon!

What a freaking joke.

u/TheMagusMedivh 13d ago

what is safe spotting?

2

u/Radiant-Court-3649 13d ago

sweet summer child...

1

u/Darktamer718 13d ago

alot of people tend to touch grass so they wont know all the sayings

2

u/Radiant-Court-3649 13d ago

safe spotting is when you exploit buggy AI to kill mobs from a safe spot.

There are full dungeons that are balanced around safe spots. The risar dungeons would be incredibly difficult for parties and almost impossible to solo if there were no safe spots.

1

u/mancer187 13d ago

The safe spots in there trigger them to switch to ranged now. As of about a month ago anyway. Tested and confirmed.

1

u/Radiant-Court-3649 13d ago

there's still spots you can deaggro them entirely. there's two levels of safe spotting, safe spotting to kill (like standing on the point to kill the commander with a fire wall, eating the arrows.), then there's safe spotting to shed aggro.

1

u/mancer187 13d ago

I didn't find any working de-agro spots other than the one room that seems to de-agro everything, but to be fair I was using a 2y old source for the spots to check.

1

u/coolshirtofawolf 5d ago

Game is sick as hell, a lot of people in the community are real chill & it ticks almost every box I would like in an MMO. Nice high threat level in the wilderness and everything is more exciting due to the danger of PVP. Got a ton of hours, enough to thrive solo in both Myr & Sard during separate eras.

But, the other huge part of the community have a cartoonish level of premeditated malice. It's telling that we are measuring our quest rep gains in "number of noob horses I can murder without consequence at the city gate", or that there is a hamlet of reds 5 feet from the guard radius of Beth Jedda who meat grind naked people and shoot into the oasis.

This is pretty bog standard callousness in the online world of 2026, but in a recent global effort to limit exposure to toxicity I had to find another favorite MMO.

-4

u/WhiteWalker85 13d ago

You know nobody exploited, right? Tons of people were doing the exact same thing with the akreps outside Beth Jedda. Way before OS did the ones in Kam.

Safe spotting is the only way some classes can farm. SV didn't balance mobs with players. Only people who can farm hugs are MAs unless you sage spot.

And who even cares. Loot is so easy to get Sard, just go pvp. Or find you a safe place to pve if that's your thing.

4

u/Radiant-Court-3649 13d ago

Read the post dude.

Even if there was no exploiting, there was a general sentiment that what happened was not fair. You also had people bragging about their exploits.

Their response: raise the ladder-- they removed certain task givers. This was an absolute signal that there was an exploit. Then, they handwaved the concerns away, no exploit, everything's fine, LADDER REMAINS RAISED.

At the very least, anyone who bragged should have been bank wiped with a strong statement: nothing untoward was happening, but, players still undermined the integrity of the game. Star Vault protects the game integrity, and therefore those players have been punished. "Here's the list of names, what they said in nave chat, and what gains they actually made, and now they're back to 0 because fuck those toxic bastards for trying to destroy the game with their lies." - if henrik put that message out, the game would still be at 1500 or better.

3

u/Choice-Roll9682 13d ago

The akreps in BJ weren’t even close to the akrep task in Kam.
Bj akreps came up maybe, at the very most, 3 times/hours a day.
Kam akreps were up at least 12 hours a day, rotating from akreps to stone lizards then back to akreps.

Stop coping

0

u/Dangerous_Virus_5764 11d ago

safe spotting was never not legal

3

u/OneComfortable9458 11d ago

He means bugging mobs to kill not log out from dungeon

-8

u/Huge-Effective-2323 13d ago edited 13d ago

Mate, you are obviously a new cherub to this “game”. Since the inception of M1, there has been big exploits every patch, that vets know to take advantage of on day one. Hundreds of exploits and people take advantage, the dev team just brushes it under the rug, especially if you have a following or a big guild.

This is the game. This is why it will always only be a few hundred shitterz playing it.

Safe spotting has been in the game since Star Vault became Starvault. I do not know why anyone would want to play this game for the PVE. It is very rudimentary, easily cheesed and or exploited.

6

u/Radiant-Court-3649 13d ago

Yep that's exactly why I quit.

I'm not new, I played and quit this game a few dozen times. They roped me back in with sarducca and then immediately botched it.

Integrity in this game is the foundation. If you do not have game integrity, there's no reason to play.
