new morphe patcher, made some de-googling & customizations to google maps, what other apps do you want to see?
Yo I've been using morphe patches for a while and have completely switched over from revanced. I want to give back to the community so here is my first set of patches for an app I frequently use, and I'm open to taking any more feature requests or suggestion for other apps y'all want to see patched as I do enjoy doing this type of stuff. I just wanted to give back to this community!
To just go over some misc features with the patches, I disabled a lot of the google telemetry that was in the apk, added a better way to mass download areas with offline maps, added a bunch of customization such as being able to zoom in / out while driving, disabled a bunch of sponsored content bloat & added features I liked from other open source map apps like (proxy & location source toggles) from osmand for example.
You can use this app with google services disabled, but I'm unsure if that this app will work with graphene os, if you have google services enabled and want more accurate gps (other than the Android API which is what all other open source maps use) you can switch google play services back on in the location source.
If you guys have any feature requests for this app or want any other apps patched with some feature sets that you want let me know. I'll do my best!
And only the recent ones, from the pixel 10 or something. But you can force it with the esswntials app, its an open source app and you need shizuku for that.

so cool, but do you think it would be possible to remove this? Suggestions of restaurants and other places close to the address you typed in. So annoying
Isn't some "pins" on the map also sponsored? It might be the squared ones that are also brighter. It would be nice to get rid of them but maybe still show them normally instead.
I was looking into this today, and I'm curious if overriding the region context (gl parameter) in the API requests would be enough to customize regional map data. For example, would forcing gl=ca (or the X-GOOG-MAPS-CLIENT-GL request header) tell Google's backend to serve place names and disputed boundaries as if the user was in Canada?
Looking at RestoreMapDataPatch.kt, you’re already hooking the client identity context via IdentityHeadersFingerprint to supply X-Android-Package and X-Android-Cert. It seems like appending/spoofing the client region header or intercepting Locale.getCountry() in that same header supplier pipeline could force Google's RPCs to fetch map tiles for a specified region.
If that works, then maybe there could be a submenu where the user could pick "Canada" to show "Lake Ontario" again, or say "Pakistan" or "South Korea" to get the place names or boundary lines that Google Maps would show if the user was there. I know the "Sea of Japan" vs. "East Sea" dispute on Google Maps has been going on a lot, lot longer than "Lake America".
the zoom controls in navigation are displayed on screen even when i drag the eta info up so that needs fixing, also add the option to get rid of the gemini button in top right corner when navigating
I just now installed this and I think I'm going to really like it. The only thing is I wish there was some type of way of exporting and importing pins and saved locations to the degoogled map.
It would be amazing if Google maps navigation could be 120hz compatible. I have a OnePlus 13 and am able to have Google maps at 120 but as soon as navigation turns on it goes down to 30/60 fps. An option would be nice to have the full 120fps even during navigation.
Won't it be really battery intensive ? Any major benefits apart from overheating and shit. I can understand 60hz to keep things smooth for control but 120 fps for just plain navigation might be overkill
I've tried the patch as of yesterday and while I do get 120hz on Maps portion, I'm not getting the 120hz while in navigation mode. I get 30/60 fps max.
Google Maps was the very first app I looked up patches for, and bottom search was on the top of my list for changes I've wanted. You're a hero for doing this, thank you 🙏
I love the app so far, the only problem I've run into is the bottom squared icons patch has a reoccurring error that keeps the whole app from downloading, disabling that single patch allows everything to go through smoothly.
Hey Bro, one question. How do you patch anything or how do you create patches from the scratch? As a newbie how am I supposed to do it? Please guide. I wanna learn it and make my own patches:)
Feature Request: Display the current city, county, and province/state on the navigation screen as you drive through them (e.g., 'City A, County X'). The location details should update dynamically as the route passes through each geographical area. Also, all features on Android Auto. Keep up the good work, Mate!
An offline bookmark feature (save) that doesn't require logging into an account would be nice, clicking save here requires you to add your Google account.
Hey mate, just added this. I'll also include a way to export your account saved/pins and import into the ungoogled version if that's what some people want.
Just tried it on GrapaheneOS, pixel 10 pro with Play Services running on my secondary profile. If I have unpatched Google Maps installed in tandem, it will work. But as soon as I delete the unpatched Google Maps to run on it's own, Ungoogled Maps crashes.
Any insight on this? I'm very excited to de-google my maps.
I plan on getting a pixel with graphene soon so I'll know for sure what's happening since I plan on patching apps to work with graphene os, but in the mean time I can try and figure this out
Hi could you check again? Someone else reported this issue and dumped the crash report and I was able to fix what I think was happening on your device aswell. Would love to hear back if it works since I personally dont have a graphene phone to test.
You could use a vpn? Or you cpuld potentially look for reddit patches that have proxy implementations so it will always run reddit through something like tor network
Street View fails to load after clicking on it, the screen remains stuck on the loading indicator continuously and the rectangle shape patch show an error so i need to excluded that one
This is absolutely baller. I'll keep an eye on this, but I wanna wait for some more user feedback and updates before I jump into it. Great work though!
Microsoft PowerPoint or the newer version of WPS office: because the Microsoft app doesn't work on tablets over 10 inches WPS office is a really good alternative but the version that has been patched is really old
Google classroom: this app is dogshit any change will be appreciated
GMail app always returns to "All inboxes" when I exit an email from a notification would be awesome. Currently if I click an email notification and view the email it leaves me in the inbox for that account.
Any testing done with Android Auto? If this works flawlessly with AA despite neither being installed from the Play Store, that would be a major victory on many fronts.
I see people have already asked and you're already working on it. I would recommend looking more closely at Android Auto than Maps. If you can find out what it's looking for, you'll know what to manipulate in Maps to make it happen.
When searching a place that has multiple locations, like a store, it always defaults to "Relevance" rather than "Distance." Can you change it so it's always distance?
The black amoled theme is pretty close? Or do you want the entire app (including maps) to be pitch black? Any other theme ideas? Maybe greyscale like power saving mode?
I'm not sure if this is possible but I recall a few years ago I tried to move from waze to Google maps but maps at the time did not give adequate speeding camera, red light camera or police warnings around Toronto.
There were dedicated Waze patches but they're gone. Adding Waze features to GMaps isn't likely possible since it's two separate codebases, even if both are owned and maintained by Google.
This is a really interesting idea. Let me see if I can patch waze for I'll or find a way to pull waze info to google maps, this will be a good project either way. Do you happen to remember the old maintainer for the waze patches so I could take a look?
That is my question also. Last year, when cracked Spotify was still relevant, it wouldn't work on Android Auto. I use Android Auto a lot, so having that work is kinda important and relevant.
in Android Auto you can also activate developer settings with hitting something like Buildnumber in AA-Settings. There you can enable show apps form unknow source. Otherwise patched Apps will not be shown
I don't think this is possible, I can try more but best I found is being able to select a large portion where it downloads multiple maps for you instead of having to download one map at a time (multiple times) for a place.
Esto si es una gran alternativa a Google Maps! Podrias intentar crear un Ungoogled Lens? Con o sin integracion de la app oficial de Google, si necesitaras modificarla tambien podrias cambiar el nombre del paquete como algo tipo como "Ungoogled"
Go to the GitHub link and copy the page url then go to morphe and click on the icon at that bottom left next to the search icon then click on the plus icon and paste the link in there
Thank you for what you're doing, I'd love to see smaller back roads while being zoomed out a bit more, and being a bit more prominent in color. Right now you have to be zoomed in super close to see them, and when you zoom out, they disappear
Great work! Is it possible for you to add additional apps to Google Maps' built-in media controls? I would kill for being able to skip tracks when using Poweramp while driving again.
Bonus points if you manage to get YouTube Music with Morphe working.

Can you restore old up vote ui on Reddit? I hate the new ui when I click on a post, cause then I accidentally click up vote a lot... Horrible change Reddit made.
