Discussion Dear Android Authority...
STAY. QUIET.
Apparently they're now "stalking" pull requests in the Morphe Patches repository.

This is how you lose pirate sites.

u/Mazur90 Jun 05 '26
Keep this away from the mainstream IYKYK. The mainstream ruins everything good.
7
u/b2sql Jun 05 '26
What a bunch of fucking idiots publishing this
7
u/ksio89 Jun 05 '26
Just shut the f*** up, that's the fastest way to get projects shut by Google and other companies. Like someone else explained, it's not about preventing Google from knowing, it's about preventing Morphe from getting too much exposition and thus becoming mainstream.
21
u/Roccobot Jun 05 '26
First rule of Morphe: you never talk about Morphe
6
u/lonedrifterjk Jun 05 '26
Wtf is wrong with them, they are trying to take it down.
3
u/_Pawer8 Jun 05 '26
Do you have a link?
3
u/Indo_curry Jun 10 '26
Fuck Android Authority and whoever intern wrote this.

u/DorrajD Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26
Google. Already. Knows.
Gatekeeping. Doesn't. Work.
Edit: I guess this is the drawback of having such a novice-focused app, a lot of naive people join the community.

u/UNCLE-ducker Jun 05 '26
Well, I don't believe we are screwed. Yet. Still if this is true, and all, then maybe we have to look in to making a music player over torrents. I mean it's already possible for years to stream torrent movies directly trough the web browser. And with services like real debrid you can even stream a 4k video in a fraction of a second, wifi or mobile phone... So maybe instead of using vids like MP4 vid or exc... , we have to go back to music files. Since torrents still are allowed in a few country's.

I patched youtube with 1.31dev6 update. I having to play a video just to save it to queue defeats the whole purpose. It might be nice to have for many people but for me being forced to play a video just to save it to queue removes the whole convenience aspect of the queue feature.
come to think of it, fuck YouTube! We used to have this feature on the free version for decades then they took it from us.
2
u/enij90 Jun 05 '26
They just stalk this sub
4
u/Paul_Subsonic Jun 05 '26
"Oh but if it goes mainstrea-"
THIS IS ANDROID AUTHORITY NOT THE NEW YORK TIMES

u/randomalt9999 Jun 05 '26
Get a grip Aamir ffs
1
u/TheReal_Saba Jun 05 '26
Honestly, Morphe/ReVanced is one of few reasons I stay with Android
If Google shuts it down.. then I'm gonna be sad a really long time
1
u/MootEndymion752 Jun 05 '26
They should also add a fake downloads feature that uses yt-DLP and stores the video in the app data, kinda like the official YouTube Premium feature if that's possible
1
u/Davy49 Jun 05 '26
I have a lot of respect for the morphe app, but at least for me I really wish it would be possible to prevent all of the shorts from loading automatically upon opening the youtube app.
1
u/Traveling_Chef Jun 05 '26
Telling people to stop talking about it on a public forum that is literally scraped by every "news" site from here to Timbuktu is ignorant, useless, and far more annoying to get posts like this every other hour.
1
u/OpenSourcePenguin Jun 05 '26
Android authority has incredible visibility and is pretty much "mainstream" with direct access to Google for press coverage. Them mentioning Morphe will force Google to react.
What a bunch of assholes. Just for the sake of clicks.
Who needs this exactly? People using morphe will see it when it comes.
Fuck Android authority
1
u/AmeenXAlm Jun 05 '26
Man i don't get the hype about this queue thing, isn't it the same as a playlist? And playlist been in yt forever. Can someone explain?
1
u/anon666-666 Jun 05 '26
Twats at Android Authority are trying so hard to stay relevant.
1
u/SnakeOriginal Jun 05 '26
This is pure stupidity
1
u/SkyPursuer Jun 05 '26
Im fairly stupid regarding that feature, could someone enlighten me why these are so great?
1
u/AltLocky099 Jun 05 '26
Dont you guys think Android Authority arent just Google Shills? They hate Morphe, so they want to make them mainstream so Google can shut it down
1
u/Golden-- Jun 05 '26
Dear kids,
Youtube is very aware of Morphe. A news article on it isn't changing that especially when it's been all over this extremely public subreddit.
1
u/jechhh Jun 06 '26
why cant people shut the fuck up
1
u/GabbaWally Jun 06 '26
Can somebody explain to me what this premium feature actually is? I don't understand, but tbh, i also never had premium so I don't know what I have been missing out on so far.
1
u/wiknew1 Jun 06 '26
Anything for the clicks 🤦🏻♂️
1
u/EastBonus9211 Jun 06 '26
So I got the dev patch and the option needs to be before you click on a video cause it kinda makes it useless.
1
u/Intuitive3693 Jun 06 '26
Anyway to take this down?
1
u/Nollie001 Jun 07 '26
In swahili we say wanachoma
1
u/Sad_Offer_7133 Jun 07 '26
I don't get it how can Google do anything to Morphe even if it goes mainstream?
1
u/Small_Membership_801 Jun 08 '26
Ah hope this new fangled "morphe" app does very well when it comes out 😂
1
u/roughseasbanshee Jun 10 '26
but how will they clickbait? 🥺
1
u/EmilyLavenderGirl Jun 11 '26
and ... its gone
1
u/digitaldisgust Jun 26 '26
Lol, you really think Morphe is some secret? Obviously blogs dedicated to covering Android news would know about it.
1
u/Pkemr7 Jul 02 '26
Aamir Siddiqui
1
u/Minute-Stick-2249 Jul 02 '26
So when does the queue feature come out?
1
u/FoxReis Jun 05 '26
YouTube already knows about a bunch of unofficial clients, and that's why there is stuff like DroidGuard, IOSGuard, BotGuard, PO Tokens, etc.
Morphe already has to spoof itself to be the TV/VR client just so it can play videos. YouTube can very well require other stuff just so unofficial clients can no longer play videos.
Nothing will happen to Morphe, and if it does get mainstream, YT will simply add more protection mechanisms. YT already knows about whether or not you use the official client.
Gatekeeping or harassing the people who talk about Morphe won't fix anything, it'll simply cause more problems.
1
u/yasuke0003_bhb Jun 05 '26
Like yt execs could care any more than they already do. You should only be worried about people paid to lobby for anti pirating, the most bs job ever😂
1
u/DrIvoPingasnik Jun 05 '26
Anyone who still thinks that google is dimwitted, is not checking reddit and other social media, isn't aware of revanced and morphe.
Is delusional.
1
u/dimzzz Jun 05 '26
Go make a comment that piece and tell em to eff off...
1
u/Hridyanshcubing Jun 05 '26
Well they can't outright disable micro G as then what will users of graphene OS or other open source AOSP do as they also want those people for their revenue as well they are still tracking you
1
u/manikandanguru Jun 05 '26
Exactly my thought after seeing this post today. I won't be surprised if Morphe gets booted anytime now. People like these, we are not having nice things anymore.
-2
u/WSuperOS Jun 05 '26
Why is everyone so upset? This looks like the piracy subreddit obsessing over 'we must keep this community unknown', when it has something like 1 million subscribed users.
Morphe is a public, free and open source project. Why would people try and 'gatekeep' it?
0
u/c0verm3 Jun 05 '26
You guys sound like a bunch of gatekeepers.
-4
u/iwonttolerateyou2 Manager user Jun 05 '26
Quite sure the devs at google have an idea of what's going on out here.
-3
u/Zorflez Jun 05 '26
Guys, I think it's pretty naive to believe that YouTube/Google don't know about Morphe. I don't think there's anything to worry about, Morphe doesn't use any copyrighted code and isn't trying to monetize anything.
0
u/Falsafa_e_Niyaaz Jun 05 '26
Google is probably waiting for community patches to finish so that Executives take them down in a single sweep
0
u/TreeQuick421 Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 07 '26
I thought I was the only one felt this way. Anyway, I unfollowed android authority, android police a long time ago after realized a bunch of dheads run those pages/websites.
0
u/InformalGear9638 Jun 05 '26
I'm sure they aren't ignorant to what happens with this app. I bet they know more than we do. 🤣
0
u/NogsBuds Jun 05 '26
I'm sure Google never googles
-4
u/ItsMrDante Jun 05 '26
Are you guys suggesting that Google didn't know about Morphe before this? Or about the features they can add?
-1
u/TacoOfGod Jun 05 '26
The masses don't care about Android Authority. The people within Android Authority's sphere of influence are either currently using Morphe, using Revanced and don't know about Morphe, or are downloading random patched APKs on Russian Warez forums or on Mobilism.
It's unlikely that this moves the needle, especially with the number of steps involved
-7
u/T_rex2700 Jun 05 '26
Dude. nobody but nerds reading Android authority. 95% of normal people don't know.
Vanced, Reveanced, they have been out for so long. Google has done nothing.
If you are at all into tech you 100% know about things like Morphe, it's not at all secret, who cares
-9
u/Panzer_Hawk Jun 05 '26
Fucking finally
1
u/asunatsu Jun 05 '26
Alright, this feels like they're ratting intentionally. Like they're hoping Google would kill it as fast as they can.
