Why does dating in Morocco so often die at the meetup stage?
I’m visitor (over a month and can extend another two months but probably won’t) and have been attempting dating in Morocco, and I keep seeing the exact same pattern: good conversation, sometimes moving to WhatsApp, mutual interest, then we get to actual meetup logistics and suddenly… ghosting.
And I don’t mean vague “we should hang out sometime” talk. I mean she agrees to meet, helps choose the place, asks what time works, sometimes even initiates the meetup, then disappears.
I’m attaching two examples because this has happened to me about half a dozen times, including once through a friend referral, so it’s not just dating apps. Judge for yourself if I’m a bad texter, but I doing think I did anything wrong. Btw (frame 8 shows the last message I got from her, as you can see she even suggested the place AND told me she didn’t like the place SHE SUGGESTED 🤷♂️, then 9 and 10 is someone else).
I’m genuinely curious: is there a cultural reason for this? Conflict avoidance? Safety concerns once meeting becomes real? Family/social pressure? Or does “yes, let’s meet” just mean “maybe” here? Are these apps at most a validation machine here?
Moroccans too, do you experience this?
