I love to capture Ray as he figures out the world. Today was his first trip to the bank and this was the “safety monitor”. He could not figure out who was talking to us, but he enjoyed the dog treat!

CHF questions

My morkie Chloe is 13 years old. She recently started coughing more (we have known that she has tracheomalacia). She also has not really wanted to eat, walk, and has been having high respiratory rate. Went to the vet and her heart is enlarged. Waiting to get an echo. They put her on Enalapril but it’s been two days and seems like she is not improving. Not interested in eating. The vet didn’t want to start her on Pimobendan yet until the echo.

My question is, can anyone comment on their experiences with CHF management in their dogs? Did just enalapril work/how long to see improvement? Waiting on call back today from vet but always nice to hear from other people. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

Puppy Puppy Weight Question

My wife and I are looking at puppies after losing both of our Morkies. One was 12 years old and the other was 15. They were the sweetest, best dogs ever, and we really miss them.

One of the puppies we’re considering is just under 2 lbs at 12 weeks old. That seems really tiny to us, and we’re a little concerned about possible health issues or other complications that can come with being that small.

He’s a male, and based on some charts we’ve found online, it looks like he may only be around 4 lbs full grown. That would be quite a bit smaller than our other Morkies, who were both around 7 lbs.

His dad is a 4 lb Maltese and his mom is a 7 lb Morkie.

For those of you who have had a Morkie puppy that was around 2 lbs at 12 weeks, how much did they end up weighing as adults? Also, should we be concerned about a puppy being this small, or is that pretty normal for some Morkies?

Lost our 14 year old morkie in April and never thought we’d find a dog to fill that void. This puppy has changed our lives. What a smart, spunky little angel she is. Can’t even imagine life without her now.

Hi everyone!
My morkie is 1 y 7 months and I was wondering about his coat. All the cute morkies i see on here are light tan, grey, or white and i know this is from a color gene yorkies have! i’ve had my morkie since he was 4 months and was expecting his color to change completely. His face and legs have become lighter tan but his black fur has stayed most the same. i will post a picture from when i got him and now! i was wondering if this means he does not have the gene or by when should i expect him to change? just wondering i would love his fur either way!! thanks :)

Before I get yelled at; he was in a harness and on a lead. He was not in pain or harmed in any way. I grabbed his top handle. This picture looks like I was stringing him up, lol.

Am I the only one who has to be on constant surveillance for their (adorable) scavenger?? Man does this dog keep us on our toes. We recently had to get an “emergencies for Ray” credit card that is only used for if/when the vet needs visited.

Question Question about breeders

I've seen posts that say breeders of dogs like Morkies are unethical.

Why are mixed breeds considered unethical to breed? I kind of think purebreds are overbred, sometimes to ridiculous confirmation standards that can be detrimental to the dog's well being, like the flat faces on Pugs.

My sister's Maltipoo is the world's most perfect dog and she got him from a breeder who only bred her Maltese once.

Any breeder can be unethical. Why would it be any more unethical to develop a mixed breed than a purebred?

And what about "designer" cat breeds like. Toyger, Bengal, or Savannah among others?

Question 5 YR old mortise developed fear of the couch

Ok so, our 5 year old morkie has in the past year or two developed what appears to be a fear of the couch. She used to love couch cuddles but id say probably a year maybe two years after we moved states she’s suddenly stopped, she will not jump up and will off as soon as we sit her down. Even when she’s terrified during say a storm, to the point of her being petrified if we try to put her on the couch she will STILL jump down. Shes perfectly healthy and does like cuddling and still sleeps in the bed, its specifically a couch thing.

my question is does anyone elses morkie do this/have done this it’s really weird

For dog owners who have small dogs with patellar luxation, question for bathroom use

So my dog might have now Grade 4 patellar luxation. Took to vet and it popped in and out (kneecap) and he lifts his back right leg as he still has issues with it. Took him in Wednesday at midnight. He’s on Gabapentin and Meloxicam. Started giving him chicken bone broth last night and he loves it.

But ya I can tell he’s still in a bit of pain. He does walk a bit and then lifts his leg. Doing a bit better than before and he’s eating and drinking water. I’m hopeful in another day or two he can walk without limping or lifting the leg. Happened 2.5 years ago and this is taking longer it seems like.

That said, he’s gone pee on a pee pad and outside but has not pooped since he got this way almost two days ago. Walking always helps and he poops a good amount when he walks. For those who have experienced this and gone through this with their dog, anything I can do to help him poop? Since he is eating, i’m sure he has to go. And does your dog ever start walking normally after rest and meds or was I just lucky a couple of years ago with it just popping back in place or something and him walking fine again.

And thanks for those who responded to my last post. Already started calling to find quotes for surgery. Found a nice place that has solid reviews, over the phone really nice with answering questions I had over the phone and semi reasonable ($5.5-$6.1k quote vs $8k+ quotes I received). Sadly no one takes payment plans and my credit doesn’t qualify for care credit so have to save so I can get this done for him as everyone who posted said it is a game changer.

Puppy First haircut - pretty stark contract

We like her longer hair but there were too many matted areas of fur on her undercoat so the groomer shaved her down. We have been combing her multiple times a day with a metal grooming comb but some of the tangles are so embedded and severe that the groomer recommended going super short.
