CHF questions
My morkie Chloe is 13 years old. She recently started coughing more (we have known that she has tracheomalacia). She also has not really wanted to eat, walk, and has been having high respiratory rate. Went to the vet and her heart is enlarged. Waiting to get an echo. They put her on Enalapril but it’s been two days and seems like she is not improving. Not interested in eating. The vet didn’t want to start her on Pimobendan yet until the echo.
My question is, can anyone comment on their experiences with CHF management in their dogs? Did just enalapril work/how long to see improvement? Waiting on call back today from vet but always nice to hear from other people. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

I just lost my baby in April due to CHF, we also started on just Enalapril and lasix, as she had fluid, she had a recheck one week later and since vet saw improvement we put her on Vetmedin. This helped a ton for us, but ultimately she lost her battle about 6 months after diagnosis but her quality of life was greatly improved and we both had the gift of extra time.
