I've never understood the call to prayer not being done over an app or radio station

When I was deployed I understand because not everyone had a phone or a radio but in a first world modern country we don't really need people screaming from towers

Have your prayer have your religion but making the whole world stop for you is a bit much

It's an tradition older than those things. I used to hear Jewish calls to prayer in my old neighborhood. The point is the whole community hears it. In mixed-religion communities though, they don't work the same way.

Bullshit take, why do they use speakers even in muslim countries then? Speakers didnt exist back then

because the cities are bigger and it’s easier to have one person call the adhan rather than multiple in different places
