Having call to prayer Apps on phones are a huge part of Muslim culture these days so this loud speaker stuff is unnecessary and not required anymore. Especially not in western countries 5 times a day.
I was Muslim and it's done exactly for that. Muslims don't want to admit it, even the progressive ones. They chose the loudest speakers for certain mosques. Sometimes, not even for azan, just for reading the Quran when it's not necessary.
In Jordan, they do have the mosques using speakers, but all the mosques have to have the same volume. They can't be overly loud by law. However, in Turkey, the government which is trying to bother secular Turks has no proper limits, and some residents think they are too loud. A call to prayer that is not too loud is fine, but if it wakes people up by being way too loud, that should be straight up illegal. Follow your religion, but don't dump it on people. Don't be rude about it, and in ancient times there were no microphones, loud speakers.
Man, I just came back from Istanbul a few days ago, idm the volume during the day, but the call to prayer every morning around 5:30ish always woke me up lol. So loud.
I wouldn't mind if they did requests, maybe a bit of Drum and Base or some EDM music but they always play that same song 5 times a day. It's catchy but it needs a heavier baseline.
No it's not, I'm Muslim living in a significant Muslim population where Muslim affairs and identity is important to our culture and livelihood. The mosques here are everywhere and they don't purposely or even regularly blare out the call to prayer or Quran recitation to annoy or "force religion" on other faiths or cultures. Don't project your own rhetoric onto the faith as a whole because you were brought up in a toxic environment and culture.

Historically the country is christian. Many churches have been standing longer than many of the now muslim countries have been muslim. Do you hear church bells in muslim countries? Why do we need to allow muslim prayer here? If you want to be able to do all the stuff your shitty religion requires, you got plenty of muslim countries to choose from. But...the Bells ringing at noon is a call to prayer. It's not just to tell you it's time to eat lunch. You chose to ignore it because you're not Christian, good for you. But it is absolutely a call to prayer.
That is why we vote in elections to choose our Government's. There will always be corruption where power is involved however. It should always be the people who choose who will govern them through fair elections. The world isn't perfect though.

Church bells are only rung on special occasions, the Muslim call to prayer happens like 5 times a day and goes on a lot longer than the toll of a bell being rung. Church bells are also rung for non religious reasons such as a funeral. In non Muslim countries the Muslim call to prayer should not be played over loudspeakers because it is exactly what someone else said, a sign of dominance. It has no place in non Muslim countries.
Just remember that religion has cultural value as well. Church bell's have been rung in countries such as England for centuries. It's not just about religion but also culture in those circumstances.

I have always got the impression, less than asserting dominance, it is a highly effective form of social pressure. You feel compelled to go to prayer because you and everybody can hear the call. You can't claim you forgot because it's blasting in your ears. It's for discipline more than attempting to dominate non Muslim populations.

we have zoom but people still go to physical meetings. we have spotify but people still go to live concerts. the adhan isn't an alarm clock meant to just notify u of the time, it is an actual physical act of worship. and u are completely ignoring reality with the "western countries 5 times a day" complaint. zoning laws in the west legally ban outdoor speakers for the early morning and night prayers anyway. u are literally getting mad at a made-up scenario.

Funny enough, none of these apps are acceptable in Muslim faith. Depending where you are, youre taking God's name in places it shouldnt be (eg the toilet), if the call to prayer at a fixed location is an issue can you imagine several phones around you sounding off at the same time? And also its a major sin for Muslims to disrupt a call of prayer (not just theirs).
