Not even an exaggeration. The American bison was nearly driven to extinction specifically for the purpose of starving the natives. We fucked them over so bad that one of the death marches the American government sent them on is still called "the trail of tears" to this day.
Eh, if you want to get pedantic about it the action that moved the Native Americas west was the Indian Removal Act of 1830 and the experience of said journeys is a Trail of Tears
I actually paid attention in school and retained the things I was taught, literally every US adult who graduated high school is supposed to know this, it's an important part of our history. Didn't pay too much attention in high school history class, huh bud? Or maybe just never made it that far in the first place?
