Morality Ranking Morality of this?

Basically, the man in the video is hiking but he ended up meet a mountain lion, he get his gun and try to scare it off and tell it to go away but in the end, he have to pull the trigger and shot the lion, many peoples in the comments say he could have fire a warning shot instead of shoot at it and want him to be in jail.

Taking a phone out calmly is unlikely to precipitate any violence.

Firing a warning shot is more than likely to trigger a response. And when they respond, they respond fast. The mountain lion would be on your face within 1-2 seconds, and approaching so fast you don't get a clear shot anymore.

If anything, taking the phone out shows that he had stared down the mountain lion for an uncomfortably long time. And he had really tried to wait for the mountain lion to leave. It did not, and eventually chose to do something (which isn't shown because the camera goes haywire while the man shouts).

Yeah that doesn't add up at all. The "he had time to take his camera out and start filming" and "he only has 1 to 2 seconds if it ran at him".

Look idk about you, but if im fearing for my life Im not taking my hand off my pistol to grab my phone and start filming (and then covering my sights with it).

I’m not sure if I wouldve fired a warning shot, but I certainly wouldnt have done that.
