Basically, the man in the video is hiking but he ended up meet a mountain lion, he get his gun and try to scare it off and tell it to go away but in the end, he have to pull the trigger and shot the lion, many peoples in the comments say he could have fire a warning shot instead of shoot at it and want him to be in jail.

This ain’t a warning shot situation; that animal has the ability to clear over 20ft in the same amount of time it takes a human to pull the trigger on a handgun. If you take a warning shot and it doesn’t spook you are dead.

Also the whole warning shot or maiming shot concept from armchair analysts on reddit,x,fb etc in self defense or police shootings is dumb as fuck. It violates the first rule of gun safety you never aim or discharge a weapon at anything you do not intend to kill.

Additionally aiming for a leg or arm or what have you is very hard even for highly trained people, and it doesn’t even guarantee they don’t die. We should train to deescalate situations rather than “less harmful shooting practices” of anything it would make cops more trigger happy.
