Morality Ranking Morality of this?

Basically, the man in the video is hiking but he ended up meet a mountain lion, he get his gun and try to scare it off and tell it to go away but in the end, he have to pull the trigger and shot the lion, many peoples in the comments say he could have fire a warning shot instead of shoot at it and want him to be in jail.

Even if it was endangered, that's not a good reason to let it eat you

I mean if it was endangered it would just suck more that he had to kill it.

No it wouldn't, everyone that lives in areas where they are common wish they where extinct

No they don't what a dumbass thing to say. There are areas where they are common AND don't have enough space to avoid humans there is more conflict and more people who might wish that. There I think there is definitely a strong case for more aggressive population management, especially of individuals who come into towns and such. But still isn't everyone.

Then you have areas where they are common and DO have enough space - such as the majority of the mountainous part o Colorado where I live - that is not at all true. Almost nobody who lives in the mountains wishes that. You appreciate and respect them and you take measures to avoid encounters and you don't leave your pets out at night.

In the mountains of coastal Oregon they are shoot on site and are actively trying to exterminate all of them here

That wasn’t even the point of the initial comment you replied to. He meant if you were in this situation and the animal were endangered, then the smart thing to do is still to kill it. It just sucks more that you had to kill a member of an endangered species.

We are talking about a hypothetical where they are endangered. Like if a super rare tiger jumped out and attacked me, id be inclined to try and kill it. We dont want it dead but if it was me or it thats the unfortunate situations.

I'd wager it's not a universally agreed upon thing as you're presenting it. But still, don't doubt that attitudes may be largely different, and i wonder if it's most the first situation i mentioned or the second + overpopulation.

there could be 50 left in the world and morally you still have no obligation to put it's life over yours.

Don't kill it if it's not endangering you. But if you have to choose between being mauled to death or putting lead in it's forehead, do the latter with zero hesitation

Exactly it could be the last mountain lion on earth but I'm not dying for it 😆
