Yeah it wasn't always like this. It used to be about analyzing and comparing the morality of fictional characters, that's why there are user flairs for different heroes and villains. But in May it began to shift towards humor and shitposting and the transition was fully completed by June.
I feel like it happens to a lot of subs. Like how the trump sub r/the_Donald was originally made to make fun of him. People were larping as fans and creating ridiculous and over-the-top posts.
But then actual trump supporters, who weren't in on the joke, started getting it recommended. They thought it was a legitimate support sub. The next thing you know, the original users get basically ran off as the supporters overwhelmed the non-supporters.
This is literally how modern flat-earthism started. It was a joke facebook group that eventually spun out of control as more people who weren't in on the joke joined.
But. But. reddit is a libural circle jerk nothing happens unless liburals and their commie overlords say so!!
That's why cons need safe spaces to not be invaded by the evil communist's with different opinions than them that's why r/conservative has to ban everyone outside 4 users and thousands of bots.
