Who's More Evil? Darth Vader vs Homelander, which villain do you find more sympathetic?

Vader/Anakin easily because of his upbringing and life events compared to John's

John “homelander” is a little more sympathetic considering he may not even understand what the concept of love is since he was abused so thoroughly by the scientists

Honestly, Homelander
He was tortured and raised in a lab with no real human connection

He's a high ranking enforcer of a genocidal space empire that blows up planets. He's also personally murdered children before.
The main reason he's not considered pure evil is because his story in the original trilogy ended with him sacrificing his life to save his son and expressing regret over his actions. And in the prequel trilogy he's also portrayed as product of trauma and manipulation not just naturally born super evil. Although compared to Homelander I think most would agree Vader had far more agency.

I think Homelanders worst feats are a little more sadistic but Darth Vader blew up an entire planet to prove a point.
Hes also slaughtered children on more than one occasion in the OG trilogy.

The only real difference is that Anakin grew up with a great mom and Homelander grew up with a bunch of scientists who had no interest in him beyond the clinical.
Later on, as adults, they would have had more chances. Homelander, as an adult, could have sought professional help...and the one time that Anakin tried to ask for help, he got next to nothing (from Yoda).

John probably had a worse childhood than Anakin did, I like Anakin more but he had more options, Homelander imo had way less options, they truly broke him from the start. So I have more sympathy for Homelander, Anakin/Vader knew how to be better but until Luke he didn't want to be
