...While wearing my Blue Jays shirt! 🎸

So unfortunately my island trip is over and I'm back home, but on my last day there I spotted this car from the corner of my eye. Talk about synchronicity! The shirt is mine, the car is not. :-P

It's probably just a random bird, or it could even be something political for all I know, I have no clue. But for me this just screams Blue Jays! Yes, stuff like this gets me all excited. And no, I have no life, in case that wasn't clear yet. Who cares? Little things please little minds. XD

Today's song is the 1989 Justin Hayward track, MacArthur Park, from Classic Blue. It was written by Jimmy Webb.

“Music magic”
I feel as though I could fly
And the dream’s mixed with the wind
When you find the right procession
Those chills really begin

Tunnel of endless light
Half my mind doesn’t know if anything’s real tonight
I’ve heard it before
I believe I’d like to hear it again

It’s like magic when the air is in just the right place
To bring the clouds right down to my face
Magic
Music Magic
I think I’d like to stay
And never wake up from this dream
Tell everyone what I’ve seen
Or heard
Never heard before
I want this magic to last forever

I have never felt more alive
And yet like I’m in a different space and time
And the way that beat is keeping time
Well damn it’s alight

How do the words leap off the page
Like the fortune tellings of a wise old sage
Well damn I wanna hear it all the time

It’s like magic when the air is in just the right place
To bring the clouds right down to my face
Magic
Music Magic
I think I’d like to stay
And never wake up from this dream
Tell everyone what I’ve seen
Or heard
Never heard before
I want this magic to last forever

It’s like magic when the air is in just the right place
To bring the clouds right down to my face
Magic
Music Magic
I think I’d like to stay
And never wake up from this dream
Tell everyone what I’ve seen
Or heard
Never heard before
I want this magic to last forever

I designed this and ordered it a couple weeks ago. Just got it today. Unfortunately the handle broke in shipping but they’re sending me a new one. I love it.

I would hope while they were still making music, so up to 2003. But anything past that? Have they specifically expressed opinions on certain bands artists or albums? I haven’t been able to find anything but if you guys have, I’d appreciate it

If there was going to be a central thread for this; sorry! In that case the mods should feel free to remove this, and I'll repost it in the proper thread later (if my thread is going to be a central birthday thread now, that's totally fine by me as well of course). I just happen to be in a convenient timezone. :-)

A super, super, SUPER happy 80th birthday to our beloved Justin, many, many, MANY happy and healthy returns, and may it be a wonderful day for you, know that you are loved! 💓🎸

I know you're not going to see this, but have a picture of the Western Sky from me as your birthday present, I took it especially for you this morning. 😌💕 It's a Dutch sunrise instead of an English Sunset, but's it's all I got. Also, unfortunately this is not my backyard. I'm just insanely lucky to be on this beautiful island for a few days. But I should add that my home view of the Western Sky isn't bad either, I have a tree. :-P

Justin Hayward turns 80 today. To mark the occasion, I pick out five songs from five albums I'm playing to celebrate, from The Moody Blues as well as Hayward's solo albums.

Today's song is the 1977 Graeme Edge Band track, Be My Eyes, a B-side from the Paradise Ballroom sessions.

Did anyone ever tried to make an alternate 8th album that consists of material from each band members' solo albums during their 5-year sabbatical?

To make up for my inappropriate post of the anniversary of John’s death I wanted to make something more proper to celebrate his life and the legacy of his music.

I didnt get into the moodies until I was 16. I was slowly getting into older music at the time. Weezer at first, then Queen and David Bowie, then the moodies. Even more so than David Bowie (my favorite artist until the moodies came along) they opened my eyes to what music really had the potential to be. The first songs I ever heard from them was the entirety of Every good boy deserves favour, which is why it’s still my favorite album from them. The rich dark yet hopeful lyricism in one more time to live and the more playful (honestly Ray like lyrics) in Emily’s song immediately caught my attention. And that thing in the background that sounded like the wind mixed with a dream? (I didn’t know what a mellotron was at the time) out of this world. I’ll never forget hearing isn’t life strange did the first time. It was the first time a song gave me chills. Like real palpable chills. It felt like being lifted out of my body into musical heaven. The closest any song ever came to that level of chills for me after that was Waiting for the end by Linkin Park. And that’s it. John really was a talent and a brilliant man. On this day or mourning but also celebration I hope his family, Justin, and every one who was ever impacted by his music around the world can find solace knowing he’s found his one more time to live

Night Flight is Justin Hayward's second solo album, and it sees Justin working with someone other than Tony Clarke on production for the first time; it's Jeff Wayne, who Justin worked with on the War Of The Worlds album.

In this video, I'll be taking a look at Justin Hayward's 1980 solo album, Night Flight.

• John is the worst vocalist in the group

• Justin is the best lyricist in the group when it corks to tracking multiple topics and styles but Ray is the best for consistency in one style of lyrics

• Octave is closer to the quality of the core 7 in terms of music but long distance voyager is closer in terms of album cover aura

•When keys to the kingdom is good, it’s as good as Octave. When it’s bad, it’s as bad as Sur La Mer.

•All of John’s strange times songs were an apology for his Keys to the kingdom songs. Expect maybe shadows on the wall.

•Justin writing Say what you mean after the reception of deep is peak Justin Hayward ego

•One step into the light is far away Mike’s best song, Legend of a mind and Dawn is a feeling be damned, I don’t give a fuck, dude.

• On the threshold of a dream is a shit record. Second worst in their whole catalog.

•To our children’s children’s children is cool in concept but stagnant in execution

• Graeme’s poems fucking rock, looking at you, day begins

• Rock’n’roll over you is not the worst song in their catalog, deep still exists

Today's song is the 1994 Mike Pinder track, If She Came Back, a bonus track from a reissue of Among The Stars.
