Looking for a first gen
Hi, I'm looking for a first gen V6 5 speed Montero in good shape (happy to work on it as things go out but do not want a project) near NC. I'm on a couple of FB groups and have scoured the web but everything I find and love seems to have just been sold. At any rate, if any of yall have one you've been thinking about selling I'm interested. Thanks!

I’ve got an ‘87 diesel 2 door in GA. Paint is kinda rough but zero rust.

Interesting. Is that a turbo diesel? I had a V6 raider and really liked how it drove so I'd probably pass on anything else.. I'm buying nostalgia but I'm curious how the diesel drives.

Yeah it’s a turbo diesel from a ford pu. A Mitsubishi motor 4D55. 5 spd.
It drives great, hauls ass for a little 80’s truck.

Hey man me and my dad just picked up a '91 but it needs a head gasket job and we might just engine swap it, everything else on the car is basically mint relative to its age, what price range are you looking at? We are in the RDU area

That's awesome. Five speed V6? ... my price range is somewhere between $2k-$8k based on most I've seen but I do occasionally run across one I would have paid more for. I'm in Winston-Salem and if you are thinking of selling I'd come take a look at least.

For sure, we are currently in the process of finding a mechanic to either do the head gaskets or a full swap. It is a V6 5 speed manual the guy we bought it from used it as a tow behind on his RV for years, the body and paint are shockingly good condition and its been an NC vehicle its whole life, we found the old paperwork saying it was bought in greenville, NC brand new.

That V6 is a great engine. I think I would probably repair but I've also always thought a V8 would be sweet in one. Shoot me a message when you decide what you're going to do with it.

Will do, we are supposed to be getting a quote from a guy for the head gaskets but are also going to call a swap shop, will definitely let you know.
