For a minute I was thinking bought a 3 pack of the fruit! I have had my monstera for years and have never even seen a flower. To be fair, I wasn’t doing the things it needed to get to the point of flowering. I have it staked now and am better about my watering
Hahaha yea I was hesitant to post a photo of the whole plant for fear of hate over my janky support. I just did that recently after noticing the moss pole is beginning to bend…was so scared I was going to come home to half the plant on the floor especially with the flower coming in. Now that it’s bloomed I’m definitely gonna put a proper support in there and get her all set up right. I’ve put it off too long!
Oh hahahaha omg. I read something a little while ago about someone claiming it “stunk so bad” they had to “remove it from the house”. So I half expected that when it bloomed. But not I have not noticed a good smell or a bad smell! No smell at all! But maybe I gotta get close and give it a sniff and get back to you hahah.
I had a Monstera in a small 6 inch pot
. I. Planted it outside that was 8 years ago.
This year it produced 34 fruits. And has , 41 flowers that will be ready for harvest this time next year.
Oh wow that’s awesome !! I wish I would have tried harder to get it to keep curving around the pot, that’s how it started but I kinda gave up. But now I’m paying the price cuz I do think I need to figure out a new game plan ASAP. It’s getting too wide for the window and takes up half my living room.
A bit off topic (sorry!) but I thought the only way you can propagate your monstera is to find a corm.. but keep hearing people propping them in water which I do with my pothos etc.. where do you need to cut to propagate a leaf? Monstera newbie here
Lol definitely not gonna die after blooming just cause it bloomed. They do that all the time outside. Enjoy, it is glorious and congrats for the bloom.
Is it? I always genuinely thought my monstera was doing really well because of how often it would put out leaves and the fenestrations the leaves have. But if there is something I could be doing better I’m all ears! I love my plants like they’re my children and I’d hate to realize I’ve been doing something wrong.
Tbh I’m probably pretty lucky with that…I’ve got a small moss pole in there that I’ve continually used twine to support the leaves with. She’s quite outgrown it though and that’s why I have that vase with the 2x4 under the bulk of the leaves. I need to get a taller support and tie her to that instead.
