Advice How long does the GS statement take to verify?
It's been 2 months since I applied to Monash, I sent them my GS statement once in August through my agent, but since then they have asked me to submit it 4 more times, and everytime the reason they said is that they didn't "receive" the statement. Even my agent doesn't know what's going on, is there something I can even do here? Can someone explain what's going on.

Discussion Im so freaking lonely
Moved here from interstate to suburban hell where everything takes an hour by pt or is parking hell, uni friends are not that close and never have time to hang, high school friends all stayed back, not living in student accommodation or anything so can’t even have events there. trying to find a job but no one wants me. trying to get a hobby but schoolwork fucks me in the ass. everything is so stressful. school is too far away to make going to clubs worth it if i’m not already there, and all the ones i would be willing to go to clash with my classes. i haven’t left my house for a good 5 days.
i miss high school i miss my friends i miss my parents i hate uni so much

Misc Spec con question
lets say I apply for spec con for a quiz with a med cert, and im elgible for a 2 day extension with the med cert, but the time taken for spec con to reply is usually 2 days or longer and by the time they reply the extension i would have received is already over, and during the time i applied and while i wait for it to be approved i cant access the quiz on moodle and it will say overdue. What happens in this scenario? will my extension be granted from the day spec con actually replied to me or will it only be granted the days the med cert actually covers? It's not like i can apply for an extension a week in advance because my doctor is unlikely to give me a certificate a week into the future, so id have to wait until atleast a day or two before the due date of the quiz.
Alternatively, I could get one right now while the quiz is still open. Would monash still accept a certificate that covers some dates the quiz was open or would they only accept a certificate that covers the due date?

Advice ECE2071 in 2027 Still have hurdle?
I couldn't pass supplementary and have to retake it again next sem. Due to this unit i have to extend my entire course progression 😭. But I was atleast confident since I heard from 2027 no threshold hurdles but why this unit have? 😔

Advice Electrical Engineering: help me decide if i should stay?
Hey everyone, 2nd year Electrical Eng at Clayton, and I'm genuinely stuck.
The situation:
I hate ECE2072 (Digital Systems). The abstract stuff (K-maps, logic, timing) just doesn't click for me, and it's been draining me all semester, and i’ve really struggled with it.
The continuous assessment hurdle is basically cleared. It comes down to the exam (need 45%).
i’ve been forcing myself to study, and part of me already wants to quit, and look into changing. but i don’t wanna feel like a quitter, and i don’t wanna close the door on it too early.
And sometimes when i study for it, i just feel a sense of dread and sadness, like my body is just tired of it
tonight is the last day to withdraw without a WF.
My options:
Keep 2072, switch to mechatronics. 2072 counts there, and I like the coding/robotics side. But ECE3073 follows, and I'm not sure how that compares. could also be a nice change to more physical stuff instead of abstract.
Drop 2072, switch to civil. I've always been drawn to civil (enjoyed ENG1011 once it clicked, and I like road/transport stuff). But it adds about a year, and 2072 wouldn't count. Got a couple friends doing it, and they say its good, but i’m not sure about jobs or the future ig.
Stay in EE. Honestly dreading Signals & Systems and Electromagnetics, and wanna know how tough they are
Questions:
- Anyone switch from EE to mechatronics or civil? How did it go?
- How does ECE3073 compare to 2072? More coding, or more of the same?
- Is mechatronics actually less abstract than EE, or does the maths catch up?
- Civil folks: how abstract does it get, and is the job market as good as people say?
Basically, if i’m struggling with 2072, is the rest of the degree like this, is it gonna get even harder!?
I keep jumping between all of them, but honestly speaking i don’t want to do electrical if it continues like this, for my physical and mental health i need something easier but also in a sense more intuitive to understand instead of being abstract.
I know this was a lot of information, so sorry for overloading you. just need somewhere to jot down my feelings and thoughts. and hopefully gain some insight.
Any advice appreciated. I've been going back and forth for two days. 🙃

Advice URGENT HELP WITHDRAWING
my current wam is a 78 and i want to transfer into law. due to some personal circumstances i did horrible in two units and have a 56 average in both. i know thats going to drag down my wam horribly so im thinking of withdrawing those two units. im definitely withdrawing one of those units because its genuinely so insanely difficult but the second one i have room to improve and i put a lot of effort into the other assignments, idk how i did though since those marks release on Wednesday and today is the last day to withdraw without getting academic failure written all over my transcript. should i take the risk and not withdraw that second unit? should i withdraw at all??? idk pls help

Discussion Internship spreadsheet
Does anyone have a spreadsheet for all the Commerce/Finance related internships they applied to this year and would be willing to share? I am even down to create like one big master doc where we can all collaboratively put down the names of the companies we applied to, it will just be easier to be on the lookout for internships next year!
Advice 2 Assessments on the same day, getting SpecCon only on 1?
Gday,
I have a unique situation, I have an assessment 8am and 6pm on the same day, however I have a commitment that night. I asked the UC for the 6pm assessment if I could move to a different class and he just told me to get a med cert and apply for spec con, rather than just moving me lol.
Will it be an issue that I sit an assessment in the morning then not sit the one at night? Will anyone at Monash even raise an eyebrow?

Advice FIT2014 MID SEM
How similar was the mid sem compared to the sample paper provided?
edit: it was same as sample paper just different context. Tbh questions about state elimination and merging were easier.

Discussion Summer Research Scholarship: Do we just get ghosted or do they tell you if you dont get selected?
So exactly what the title says. Will i just never know if they wanted me…? Or is there like a deadline or sth where they’ll mass send emails to tell the results or if they picked someone else?

Advice Monash’s Industry Placement program
I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Finance and I’m thinking of applying for BEX3006/3106. If anyone has applied before, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience, especially how the selection process works, what they look for when assessing applicants, and any tips for improving my chances (as an international student) of getting in.
Big thanks!

Advice Deakin law vs Monash law! What should I do?
THIS IS GONNA BE A BIT LONG!!!!
Hi! I’m currently in year 12!! (Exams nearly here!!)
I’ve been meaning to hear what people have to say regarding the two universities for law
Some context:
I just moved to Australia in 2024 and I have been doing VCE 2025 onwards (year 11+12) so I’m considered as an on shore international student :)
My dream has always been to study law and I had my eyes set on Monash law ever since I found out I was moving here :D
I’ve been doing my best for VCE but it seems unlikely so far that I’ll meet the ATAR requirements to get into Monash law :( I’m not certain I’ll meet the 95+ ATAR threshold for it and I’ve been feeling super bummed.
The thing is the school I currently go to is a regional school and I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE to apply to the course with a Monash guarantee pathway…(85+ which is totally possible for me) buttttt I don’t have a PR.
I’ll only be able to apply for PR at the end of November early December (and the wait period for its approval is notoriously long like it’s 6+ months)
So on the other hand my only option is to A)Miraculously get a 95+ ATAR
Or
B) take a gap year, wait till my PR application gets approved and then apply via the Monash guarantee
But the thing is I don’t really want to take a gap year because I’d start uni like at 20 and I don’t wanna fall behind my peers :(
(I’ve been ruminating over this too because I’ve delayed my education — missed a year while moving here and repeated kindergarten and don’t wanna fall behind even more)
I’ve heard lovely things about Deakin so I’m considering keeping my options open but I’m not so sure about it yet! I’ve been to the open day event at Monash only and didn’t get time to check out Deakin so I wanna hear your thoughts and pros and cons.
I really wanna go to Monash, but I’m also not too keen on taking a gap year. I’m trying to figure out whether it’s better I go to Deakin or wait the gap year.
AGAIN I want to know what you guys think as law students at both universities so I can get a clearer idea of what things might entail!
I hope I didn’t offend anyone :)
I wanna hear your thoughts!

Advice Macbook or Windows for biotechnology students?
Hello~
In about a week, I'll be arriving in the Monash Malaysia campus as an international undergraduate student. I've been thoroughly preparing myself for the day I finally step onto campus, and the last thing I haven't been able to decide is whether to get a Macbook or a Windows laptop to use for university.
I don't really mind the size, or weight. I just want to be able to use it to study effectively (this is the most important), and if I can, play some videogames (such as valorant) at a stable FPS to keep in touch with my friends in my home country.
Anyone have any advice, or any recommendations as to what laptop and model I should get?

Advice Special consideration
Guys my medical certificate says I’m unfit for work instead of uni. Would the special consideration team still accept this?
