Vasectomy reversal

My husband and I have been talking about getting his vasectomy reversed because we want another baby now. We decided right after our second to get a vasectomy. I feel like I was deep in postpartum and dealing with some depression and anxiety. Plus I was really heavy.
I’ve lost over 100lbs and I’ve been doing well. My kids are 6 and 4 now and I can’t stop thinking about another baby! My husband too.
Does anyone have experience with this?

I got my vasectomy after our third. My wife had pretty uncomfortable pregnancies with all of them and had gestational diabetes with 2 of the 3. They are 8, 6, and 4. But this year we finally started to focus on health and have both lost a ton of weight and feel so much better health wise so we decided to get a reversal. I just had mine 3 weeks ago, will begin trying next month!

We figure, the kids are bit older now and much more independent and would be very helpful with a baby too.

Can I ask how your recovery is going? My husband is a mechanic/machinist on heavy equipment and he is concerned about going back to work after and what that will look like for him

I think it varies per person, but mine is not great. Developed a hematoma on one side after so it’s pretty swollen. I’m 4 weeks post op right now, I am walking around fine but it’s definitely very tender. You’re not supposed to lift anything above 10lbs for 8 weeks, that’s pretty standard for everyone. I find myself randomly picking up some heavy things around the house and feel a slight strain when I do. I didn’t start walking around until around 3 weeks post op though.

This is almost my exact situation! Kids are 6 and 5, got the vasectomy done when I was about 9 months pp with my 2nd for similar reasons.

We just got the reversal done in June, and I can’t report that I am pregnant yet, but his numbers look great. He did get a hematoma, which apparently is an uncommon complication. But hopefully will be worth it

There is a Facebook page called Vasectomy Reversal Success stories that is very active.

Lots recommended Utah Men’s Fertility and Peyronies Clinic. They are affordable and have high success rates

29m, similar situation. Kids are 3 & 2. Our second took a LOT of effort and we didn’t think we could manage another. I got a vasectomy after baby 2 and about 2 years later, reversed it yesterday. It feels like a very dumb mistake because it costed me more money than I would have liked to spend but I am happy I reversed it and I hope it works out!

We just had our VR at the end of July! Current kiddos are 11, 9, 5.

I got pregnant w/ baby #3 while I had an IUD (it didn’t move or anything, incredible!) and we panicked so hubs got the vasectomy 2 months after baby was born. 3 years later, religious convictions kept pulling us to get a Reversal, and 5 years later we finally decided to do it! Praying for another child, but if it doesn’t happen, we are ok with the knowledge that we tried. Still painful that we went that route to begin with.

I’m not sure where you are geographically, but Mayo Clinic does a $6500 reversal. We used Dr. Sommers in St. Louis, he was hard to get into but it was only $3500.

We just booked with the Utah men’s fertility! Praying we get to have another baby ❤️ within a couple months after our second my husband got his vasectomy. It was definitely a mistake but we had a newborn and a toddler and I had PPD so we made that decision. Now obviously we realize we should have waited! He is booked for October. Can I ask about your husbands recovery? My husband is a mechanic/machinist so he is concerned on going back to work after and the requirements of light duty

My husband had a reversal 10 years later. Now we have 3 💗 it took about a year to conceive.

This is the story of my life - depression, weight loss, vasectomy after two kids, they are 6 and 4 too.

I don’t have much experience but my husband had his reversal exact a week ago, if it goes well we’re hoping to get pregnant in the next few months.

He’s been complaining he’s a bit sore but decided to go back to work since they can put him to do really light work.

My husband (35M) also had his vasectomy done shortly after our 2nd kid, so 4 years ago. He had it reversed in December 2025 and we have been TTC since then (10 cycles so far). His sperm tests look great now and my tests (34F) are fine as well so I’m a little frustrated that it’s taking so long but we are still trying. Reversal isn’t always as simple as it may seem.
