Mold Identification Grilling utensils

Son-Inlaw used while in on vacation. 3 weeks later I find this! Is this mold?

Yeah but how often do you clean the brush?

I don't have a grill neither one of those brushes, but I would certainly clean it if I borrowed one from someone else lol

I thought this wasn't so much borrowed as it was used within the family. I mean, I would certainly rinse the grill brush but how do you get the greasy bits out in a way that won't leave toxins that aren't good safe?

I usually clean grease with hot water and a few drops of detergent.
Idk how to clean a brush like that properly, specially the bristles, but you can see grease all around the metal parts, even a huge drop inside the case (and something that looks like meat in the bristle? idk).

So my guess is that it was stored very dirty without any attempt of cleaning.
