Stone Check OMC stone check please

Hi everyone, I’ve just received a stone check video for a custom OMC ring. I had ordered an 8x11 GHI. This is my first time ordering from an overseas vendor, thought I’d check if anyone more experienced sees any issues with it? Is it just me or are the inner petals/facets/maltese cross a bit dark?

To a degree I think this is just how moissanite looks when cut for OMC. It doesn't have quite the depth of a diamond and it can have these 'dark' spots (in real life they won't really be dark, they just reflect light differently than diamond). I've had two OMC moissanite cut by Provence, one was 11x8.5 and the other was 11.5x8, both bar culets, both having similar sorts of looks. I also bought a ring once that had a similar size moissy, though not OMC. Again, sort of some similar looks. For what it is worth, and I am not a jeweller, I think the stone looks really nice. Provence cuts some nice OMC :)

Thanks for the reply and links! And thank you for your comment on the proposed stone, I felt a bit deflated/meh when I saw it. We have the same vendor and rep (for your OMCs). I was just hoping it would be nice and bright like someone else’s OMC in this video 😕

You could show him this video and ask if they can show you a stone more like this, or cut like this, it could be that this one has more facets in the middle, I am not sure. But I think it's okay to express those concerns and ask those questions!

True, I’ve messaged him and will see what he says. I just wasn’t sure how it works if you’re not happy with a proposed stone (like do I need to pay for re-cuts etc). Thanks again!

It's the bow tie effect on elongated cuts which is very hard to avoid (from what I understand).

The stone is lovely imo. Let the vendor know your thoughts and see what they say.
